The Holekamp House Bed & Breakfast

We called to tell that we would be late after 10 pm. John was waiting to greet us and carry in our luggage, Next AM breakfast was wonderful. Mary printed out her recipe for us. We cannot waited to go back. It was our first stay in Sears Kit House

The Holekamp B&B was outstanding!! Clean, fresh, and spacious....our innkeepers John and Mary were fantastic hosts! The breakfasts were some of the best we ever had. They were very helpful and gracious and we will return one day....hope it's sooner than later. :)

Great stay in Comfort, much like Fredricksburg used to be! Quiet great shops and dining, walked everywhere from B&B! Breakfast was awesome along with beautiful deer coming up to area. Old school hospitality!!! Tom & Kerrie

Had a great stay here. We wanted to stay in Fredericksburg but every place was booked. I'm glad we found this gem because it was well worth the drive. The rooms were spotless, breakfast (and fresh baked cookies) were delicious and Mary & John were fabulous hosts. We will stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at Holekamp House B&B and it was very relaxing. Our room was spacious and well decorated; the house itself was very quaint. Mary & John were a wealth of information, from the history of the house itself and its first inhabitants to places of interest in Comfort as well as the surrounding communities. From what we were told, this is one of the few true bed and 'breakfasts' in the area. The food was delicious. We will definitely return! jkmsnrnc

I stayed at the Holekamp House between a conference in San Antonio and the trip home. I arrived late the first night, but found a gracious welcome despite the hour. The one full day I was there was peaceful, quiet, relaxing. Breakfast was as always delicious (this was my second visit) with lovely presentation. My room was clean and comfortable; it was overcast in the morning and I spent several hours on the front porch swing, reading, enjoying the moment.

A beautifully restored home in the Hill country with gorgeous decor, hardwood floors, and a porch swing. Each room has its own personality and were even more fun in person. A short 20 minute drive to Fredericksburg and other towns for shopping. The restaurants in Comfort close early so plan accordingly. Loved seeing deer in the evening and hearing the birds in the morning. John and Mary were wonderful. Mary made scrumptious breakfasts and the presentation looked like it was straight from a magazine. Mmmm! John was a wealth of knowledge and gave ideas of things to do. Really enjoyed visiting with them after breakfast. It is obvious that Mary and John love what they do and are definitely doing it right! Definitely adding this treasure to my favorites list.

We spent one night and we were very pleased. The room was comfortable and well appointed. Really liked the front porch swing! Breakfast was excellent and our hosts were very gracious.

The house is beautiful. We loved staying here. There are deer in the front yard every evening. We stayed in Otto's room and very much enjoyed the private patio area. The room/bathroom could use a mirror and maybe some sound insulation, but that was the only negative I found. The town is tiny and closes up at 5pm. Make sure to schedule meals accordingly.

Our stay at the Holekamp House B&B was wonderful! John and Mary were the perfect hosts and the breakfasts were great. Comfort is a great place to stay, within easy driving distance to locations around the Hill Country, and the Holekamp House fits the bill perfectly!

John and Mary Straley were born to be Innkeepers!! Their hospitality, attention to detail, and sincere kindness exceeded all of my expectations! Their home is beautiful and well maintained. I did not encounter one problem, which is exactly what I hope to experience when I travel! The guests at Holekamp House were delightful, and made my stay all the more enjoyable. We certainly enjoyed our stay and would look forward to staying there again. Very comfortable bed. Wish there had been a tub instead of a shower.

We stayed the weekend of August 5th and it was perfect! Historic home beautifully restored and renovated to include all the necessary amenities and the AC worked great! Huge rooms, sparkling clean with gleaming hardwoods. The breakfast was wonderful and ample, Mary even shared her recipes! We liked that it was adults only and no pets and the hosts were friendly and live in the home. The location was perfect, 20 mi. to Fredericksburg and a little less to Burney and Kerrville. About 2x that to San Antonio etc. Jo-Alice and Mark

The house and hosts were extremely nice! I enjoyed the atmosphere greatly. The food was amazing and very rich. Enjoyed the company the family provided. Very knowledgeable about the area. The actual house was very quiet. At times it felt as if we couldn't talk, but besides that the stay was amazing!!

We enjoyed our stay and John and Mary are the reason. Engaging couple that truly have a passion for their guests enjoyment.

If you're wanting a B&B where the breakfast is as good as the bed then this one is for you. We stayed 3 nights and I'd have paid separately for any of the breakfasts we were served. They were great tasting and looked like something from the cover of Southern Living.

We just returned from our stay at Holekamp House and I just can't think of where to start to say how wonderful our trip was. Mary's food was beyond exceptional and the portions were huge - no need for lunch when eating breakfast here! We stayed in the cabin and it was much larger than what I had expected. Off the beaten path but still in the middle of everything - you just can't go wrong with Holekamp House. Thank you John and Mary!!

We were looking for a quiet place to get away, see surrounding cities and sights, comfortable and affordable. A grand old home that says "Welcome"! We found it all plus great food and super nice host and hostes. Can't wait to go back.

Beautiful bed and breakfast centrally located in the Texas Hill Country. Rooms were lovely and immaculate. John and Mary were wonderful hosts, and took great pride in making sure that guests have a memorable experience. Breakfast was an experience in itself, and the evening desserts were to die for. It was a little further from the shops than I expected, but it was only a 5 minute drive and the other amenities made it well worth it. I frequently spend weekends in the Texas Hill Country, and this B&B is well situated to explore all the small towns in the area. I am sure I will go back again and again.

My husband and I went for a anniversary and it was WONDERFUL! We stayed in the cabin. The breakfast was GREAT and Mary & John were great Host! I will be going back and would recommend it to everyone!

We enjoyed a delightful 2-night stay at this b&b in December 08. The hosts went out of their way to make our visit comfortable. The breakasts were wonderful and the evening desserts decadent - enjoyed with the other guests in the parlor with a log fire in the big fireplace. Recommended!

Beautiful big rooms; warm and inviting; perfectly cooked breakfasts. John and Mary went out of their way to accommodate us! We'd return anytime.

We stayed in the Cabin and thought it was amazing. Decorated beautifully, it was the perfect place to stay the weekend and enjoy the quietness. The breakfast was awesome! We even cook one of the breakfasts at home (she gave us the recipe to take). I highly recommend staying here for a great weekend (or longer) getaway.

My sisters and I enjoyed a two night stay at Holekamp and we all were quite pleased. It is just what B&Bs are supposed to be. It is not overdone with decor and the breakfast is completely homemade and generous. We enjoyed our host and hostess and will definitely return.

A truly inviting and relaxing home with equally charming innkeepers. The furnishings were not only beautiful, but comfortable as well with large, antique laden rooms and luxurious bedding. This rare find is full of history and hospitality and is well worth taking a detour off the main highway to experience.

This was our first bed and breakfast stay anywhere and it was fabulous! It will be hard to find another place as grand. The King's Room is very large and beautiful. The hosts are gracious and the food is delicious. Definitely returning soon.

My fiance and I had the most outstanding stay and we enjoyed every minute! The dessert that is served each night was fabulous and so was the breakfast that is served each morning. We were engaged the same day we stayed in the Otto's Vineyard room. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. We met so many nice guests during our stay and our innkeepers were the most wonderful people we've ever met! We want to say thank-you for the best and most comfortable stay of all time!

My wife and I have stayed at over 40 B&B's here and abroad and this is a memorable one. The Inn is beautiful and innkeepers' John and Mary gone to the max to restore the inn. And they treat their guests like royalty. Huge rooms, gourmet breakfasts and coffee and sumptuous deserts every night. Don't miss this one!

Dec. 7th was my 56th birthday and My wife and I wanted to stay somewhere special. We wanted to stay in the Hill country and do some antique shopping. I found this place on the Web. and decided to give it a try. Boy were we glad we did. What a great place to stay. The house was grand and the room was fantastic. We stayed in the Otto Vineyard room and it was better than I could have hoped for.The service and food were out of this world. Unfortunately John and Mary were unable to be there because there son was in the hospital because of a car accident and they had to be with him. Our prayers are with them and their son. Mary's sister Becky was taking care of the house and she did a fantastic job. Hat's off to you Becky you were a wonderful host and you cooking was just heavenly! Thanks again for a wonderful get away. We will be back and will tell all our friends about this place. Donald and Joyce Strauss

We decided to stay in Comfort because nearby Fredricksburg was booked, and we are glad we did. Holekamp House B&B was quite enjoyable. Fresh cookies in our room when we arrived, hot cake for dessert before bed, and a wonderful breakfast made for a delicious stay. The house has plenty of history and the Innkeepers have many books and photos describing the history of this old Sears mansion. John and Mary were very accommodating.

When I ran away for the weekend and wanted to stay some place differnt I never in my wildest dreams thought I would find this gem in the hill country. I have been to a few B&B but this place was better than I could have ever dreamed. The food was better then anything I could have gotten at a dinner. The bed was like sleeping on clouds and becuase the B&B was located in a neighborhood it was so quite. Mary and John are the sweetest people. I originally planed to stay one night but loved it so much I call and said I wanted to stay an extra night. They were kind enough to keep my room which I was greatful. I plan to be back so I can use the B&B as a base camp to go shopping in the antique shops. This is a five star B&B worth looking into.

My husband and I were given a 2 night stay at the Holekamp House as a gift. We had never heard of this B&B, but now we cannot stop talking about it. GORGEUOS & PEACEFUL are the two words that best describe the ‘home.’ The attention to detail was amazing! Mary and John thought of everything; from bath salts in the restroom, games in the den, to complimentary drinks/snacks. I was most impressed with all the beautiful furniture and decor, my husband was thrilled to find that the home was equipped with wireless internet. The evenings were spent with other guests at the desert hour where we all enjoyed wonderful conversations and excellent desserts. In the mornings we awoke to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and enjoyed superb breakfasts. We are so looking forward to visiting again. Thank you for a wonderful experience Mary & John.

This was our first B&B to ever visit/stay at. But it will not be the last time we visit the Holekamp House. It was FABULOUS! We celebrated our anniverary by taking the trip and staying at this wonderful B&B. The owners are wonderful, caring and attentive to your every needs. But they also let you come & go as you please. We had plenty of privacy and space in our room. We loved it so much, we are booking our next trip right now. Staying at the Holekamp House is a tremendous vacation!

My daughter & I found the Holekamp House by chance we called and booked our room while we were driving through Texas Hill Country last week. We decided to take a large detour on a trip between Austin and Houston. We are so glad we did. I spoke with Mary on the phone and she said Anna's Room would be waiting for us when we arrive. Our room was bright, clean and ornately decorated. The house as a whole had an innate charm that welcomed us immediately. Even the front walk and porch had a Rockwell-ish charm. (Even the cat sunning herself on the front steps) We were eager to check out the local area and John looked up some outdoor activities for us and recommended the Kerrville State Park. Just a few minutes away we were able to kayak and swim as well as explore the beautiful grounds where the deer walk right up to your car. Our breakfast the next morning was fantastic. We had stuffed French toast that was similar to bread pudding, the fresh fruit and cream was delightful. This is a very warm and charming place. You cant help but enjoy your stay.

We stayed at Holekamp House before my husband was deployed to Afghanistan,and again when he was home on leave. He is home safe, thank God, and we're going back for a 3rd stay at Holekamp House. Looking forward to Mary's cooking, the beautiful house, and John & Mary's hospitality, as well as the great people of Comfort.

The owners are wonderful, friendly people who do their best to keep you in comfort while not interfering in your vacation. The breakfast is incredible and the dessert in the evenings is fabulous!

What a great, last minute trip! WE celebrated our 8th anniversary here. We enjoyed the Holekamp house, as well as Mary & John's hospitality. Desert was delicious & the rosemary eggs for breakfast were a special treat. Comfort is a nice town with good people & not too far from Fredericksburg or San Antonio. We stayed in the King room & had the upstairs to ourselves. There were snacks & drinks to compliment the evening. Fresh baked cookies were in our room waiting when we arrived. The bed was large, comfy & the linens were crisp & smelled wonderful. It was a delightful stay & we certainly recommend this great B&B.

My husband and I stayed here one night on a getaway to the hill country - we wished we'd stayed here longer! We stayed in the cabin, and it was very relaxing!! Mary and John are genuine and graciuos hosts and we enjoyed our conversation with them as much as any other part of our stay. They went above and beyond in paying much attention to detail in ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay for their guests! They really thought of everything when furnishing and supplying the cabin. Mary is a wonderful cook; her desserts every night are to die for and the full breakfast is delicious and very satsifying. Holekamp House is HIGHLY recommended to anyone traveling through this area of the state!

My husband, my Mother, my Sister, & I stayed at Holekamp House in June of 2005. It was my Mother & Sister's first stay at a B & B. They absolutely loved it! We had the entire 2nd floor to ourselves. The entire weekend was so relaxing and John & Mary were wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful and the cooking was the best! Mary makes the most wonderful cakes---my Mother is still telling all of her friends about her weekend there. My Sister and her friends are planning some weekends for relaxation and antique hunting. It's the only place to stay when you are in the Comfort area. My husband and I always stay at B & B's when we travel. Holekamp House is our favorite in the state of Texas.
