Knittel Homestead Inn

The Knittel Homestead Inn is a very nice and quaint B&B. The decor is perfect, everything is immaculate inside and out. Breakfast is always delicious. Very nice place to stay.

We have been going to the Knittel for about 5 years - usually twice a year and have always found it to be superior! Carmen and Steve are wonderful hosta and the breakfast is absolutely to die for. We will continue to go there on a regular basis!

My husband & I stay here a few times a year. We enjoy this little getaway and consider this B&B our "home away from home", whether we are in town visiting family or just sneaking away for a little R&R.

We had a wonderful relaxing two days at Knittel Homestead. I loved how all the rooms were decorated in a special theme. The innkeeper could not have been nicer and the breakfasts were delicious. Would love to go back another time.

Wonderful place to spend our anniversary. Great attention to details and a wonderful bed, double bath, and awesome breakfast! Snacks and drinks were in the cozy common area, along with a coffeepot which was set to brew at 7:30 each morning. Everything was very clean and decorated with great care.

My husband and I spent a fun weekend at this B and B. The owners certainly have an eye for detail in room design and food. We enjoyed having wifi available. The "night life" right down the street was also fun. We will probably return to this place.

We had a fabulous anniversary weekend at Knittel Inn. The room was beautiful and we were impressed with the decorations and attention to detail. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the Knittel Inn from the owners, Carmen and Steve. The inn was in walking distance from some of the local hangouts and it was fun to meet some of the residents of Burton. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were fortunate to spend 5 days at the Knittel Homestead Inn. Comfort and peace are to be found in abundance at this jewel of a B&B. Meals are a culinary dream and Steve and Carmen are delightful hosts. We stayed in the Paris Apartment and hated to leave when our vacation was over. Comfy bed and linens, front porch is a great place to put up your feet and read a great book, lots of character and charm in the decor and the oversized tub with complimentary bubble bath was great! Burton is a great small town and is just a short drive to a multitude of things to do in the area. Overall, the Knittel Homestead Inn is perfection!

My wife and I stayed for the weekend and loved every minute. Steve and Carmen were wonderful host. The room was relaxing and was wonderful down time for the wife and I. The breakfast was something to look forward to every morning. Would recommend for anyone looking for a place to enjoy time together.

We had a wonderful visit. The Bungalow in the Washington House was comfortable and the Inn Keepers, Carmen and Steve are great! Steve makes great pizza. You got to try it! Breakfast was Awesome! The town of Burton is quaint and quiet. We ate German food at the Burton Cafe. Wonderful!

Hubby and I had such a relaxing and wonderful birthday weekend here at the Knittel Homestead Inn, from the beautifully decorated and comfortable room to the elegant dining experience at breakfast. The moment we arrived we were welcomed by our gracious hosts Steve and Carmen, who made us feel like family. I highly recommend staying in and enjoying their home made pizza for dinner, it was the best! You will not be disappointed!!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day(s) at the Knittel Homestead Inn. It was easy to find and very welcoming. Our room, the Bungalow, was spacious, charming and well appointed. Our reservation included breakfast which was terrific both days we were there. The Innkeepers, Steve and Carmen, were a lot of fun and Carmen kept a lively conversation going amongst all the guests during the meal. The pizza that we were served the second evening we were there was delicious, too... we enjoyed it in the common area of the house with a bottle of delicious wine on a checkered table cloth. The White Horse Tavern, a block or so away had good, cold beer. We spent the days exploring south central Texas and the evenings relaxing in the very peaceful environment of the Knittel Homestead.

The guest house has very cozy and private rooms. The bathroom was huge. And breakfast was a gourmet treat.

We have stayed at many Bed & Breakfast places around TX. Most of which did not impress us enough to make a return visit. This place was different! We noticed and appreciated so many little thoughtful touches that we found here. There were umbrellas available by the door that we took advantage of our first morning there, as it was raining, and our umbrellas were in the car. It was nice to get to eat in the beautiful dining room and meet other couples that were staying there. The food was warm and delicious. Our server, Carmen, entertained us with stories of refinishing the beautiful staircase in the home there. We were very pleased with our stay at Knittel Homestead Inn and hope to return someday :)

Steve and Carmen Finn make Innkeeping look easy! Whether sitting on the wraparound porch enjoying the peace and quiet or relaxing in one of the perfectly appointed guestrooms, your experience with the Knittel will not disappoint. The facility is an ongoing labor of love externally...but the interior is absolutely perfect. The 3-course gourmet breakfasts were delightful and the conversation warm and enjoyable. Although Burton is not quite up and coming yet, there is a quaint little pub with an acordian player who served with John Wayne and a restaurant owned by a chef previously with the Four Seasons restaurant in Dallas. We highly recommend the Knittel Homestead Inn and will be returning with family!

Had a very enjoyable stay at Knittle. Hosts were very friendly and warm. Room was excellent as was the bed. Very clean; had wi-fi connection. Very quiet. Very good value from Groupon.

Beautiful Bed and Breakfast, which is right in the middle of Houston and Austin, so there are so many options for places to go and things to do. The room was gorgeous and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary here, and it was beyond our expectations. The Innkeepers Steve and Carmen are delightful and full of great stories, and delicious recipes. Although most places besides the Inn in Burton only take cash, there is an ATM within walking distance. We met new friends and became a part of history, and we loved every moment of it! -R&M F. We stayed in the Lodge room and loved it. The hosts were very gracious, very informative, and very nice. The food at breakfast was also great and we ordered one of their homemade pizzas and loved it. We got all of the rest and relaxation that we wanted. I would definitely recommend you try out the Knittel Homestead Inn. We will certainly be back, and will try out one of the other rooms :-D. Oh yeah, and the beds were more comfortable than any hotel mattress I have slept on.

We stayed at the Knittel B&B for our anniversary. The food was excellent (full breakfast and yummy snacks), the rooms were so comfortable-both cozy, elegant and functional (did I mention a huge bathroom with bubble bath included?). The hospitality of the owners was very warm. The town, while close to some fun activities, was still a getaway and very relaxing.

The Knittel Inn is an immaculate, warm and cozy bed and breakfast! The food is delicious, and Steve and Carmen (the owners and hosts) are so very gracious and accommodating!! There is so much loving attention to detail in every aspect of this inn...it is a real gem!! I would recommend it to anyone (and already have)!!

The hosts are kind and provided great service. We loved our spacious room- Audrey's Attic- and hope to go back another time to stay in one of the different rooms. It was nice getting to know the other people staying there as well. We found fun things to do in the neighboring cities and had a nice, relaxing, escape from the big city.

We visited for a quick girl's trip. We loved every aspect of the Knittel Homestead Inn. The accomadations are beautiful, comfortable,and very clean. Steve and Carmen are extremely hospitable. We felt very relaxed and refreshed there.

We are a couple that wanted a getaway to de-stress. From the time we first arrived at subject inn we loved it. The accommodations were top notch, the exterior of both, the main house and the Washington House (the house we stayed in) were very impressive. We stayed in the Flora Room, it had five large windows (with shades) which gave it a wonderful sunny atmosphere. The first morning of our stay we took a leisurely walk around town and then went to the main house for breakfast. We were in for quite a pleasant surprise, as we entered the main house, we were very impressed with the beautiful interior of the home. The breakfast was phenomenal, Steve and Carmen (the innkeepers) were fantastic!! They provided a wonderful breakfast that you would have to experience yourself in order to appreciate. Words alone cannot properly describe what an enjoyable, all-around wonderful stay this was for us. Bottom line, service, food, accommodations, atmosphere, all made for an excellent, relaxing stay. I highly recommend The Knittel Homestead Inn.

We have stayed at the Knittel Inn 3 times and plan to go again this summer. We go to the concerts at Round Top and then stay here. It's great.

Hubby and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Burton is a small town with a population of 359. We live in Houston and this was a beautiful change of pace. The Bed and Breakfast was truly magnificent. Carmen and Steve are great Innkeepers and they complement each other well. We enjoyed a glorious two day stay and hope to be back! My girlfriend and I made a quick getaway to Burton, TX to the fabulous Knittel Homestead Inn! Our stay was wonderful. We were welcomed graciously by the Finn's. Breakfast was superb! I loved the fact that you could order in room service for dinner. An excellent B & B!

We got married at Knittel Homestead. Steve and Carmen did everything in order to make our wedding and stay just perfect. The wedding was easy and we didn't have to plan anything. we stayed at knittel homestead inn in october 2009. i had had a terrible fall and had to have emergency surgery, after which i was not well enough to travel for a number of days. steve and carmen were so wonderful to my husband and me during our stay. they not only fixed breakfast for us, they fixed us dinner which they brought to our room. i cannot imagine staying anywhere else where i would have been treated with such concern and kindness.

Located in lovely little town, quiet neighborhood. We stay during antique week and it's perfect spot, close to shows. Carmen and Steve are warm and friendly and have done an amazing job with their property. Breakfast is high class! Wonderful place to stay.

You can sit and relax on the wide front porch, go for a walk in the quaint town of Burton, shop in Steve's Antique Barn, or just relax and sleep in your cozy room. I will go back!!!!

We have stayed at Knittel Homestead five times and each time has been AWESOME! Carmen and Steve are impeccable hosts and make our stays so enjoyable. We look forward to the fantastic breakfast each morning and are amazed at their hospitality. The rooms are so very comfortable, sparkling clean, and beautifully decorated. We love sitting on the porch of the Washington house in the evenings. It can be pouring rain and it is still a treat to just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. While antiquing at Round Top was a washout with the two-day rain storm, our B & B made our trip worthwhile. The rainfall on our attic rooftop made for great sleeping and breakfast around the table cozier. We booked this b&b b/c the one we usually stay at during Round Top was already booked. This one was more expensive but ended up being totally worth it. The rooms were comfortable and the in room bathroom big enough. The real treat was the hot cooked served breakfast on china. It was nice to have a gourmet breakfast and to be waited on, too! We will definitely return!

The Knittle Homestead is understated elegance in the main house while the house in the back of the property has been renovated to make the four rooms quiet and comfortable. For shopping, there is an antique store on the property as well. Breakfasts are excellent!!

Knittel Homestead is a perfect quiet getaway from the big city hustle and bustle. The service, rooms, breakfast, and hosts are excellent. Sitting on the front porch, visiting with friends is an excellent adventure.

My wife and 2 grown daughters and a boyfriend were all in town for a family reunion - what an oustanding visit we had, capped each evening with quite, restful, sparkling clean accomodations presented by Steve and Carmen. The rooms are simply perfect! They have done such a fantastic job of restoration and decorating. My wife and I stayed in the "Lodge" room and I was delighted with the outdoorsy atmosphere. The Finn's attended to every detail and were wonderful hosts. We can not personally speak for the breakfasts but reading through several years worth of comments from guests, we feel comfortable stating the breakfasts are "delicious!" Carmen even made us a "short" pot of coffee the night before we left. Looking forward to the opportunity to visit again!

This is a wonderful B&B that I would recommend to anyone. The Isabella room that we stayed in was beautiful from the tastefully adorned room to the antique claw foot bath. There is nothing nicer than relaxing in the wooden rockers on the huge second story wrap-around porch on a quiet Burton afternoon. The morning breakfast fare was wonderful, better than you could find in most any fine dining establishment. The inn keepers were wonderful people who were full of interesting stories about the rich history of the Knittel Homestead.

The Knittel Homestead Inn has become our secret getaway. If your interest is in antiques or Festival Hill music activities or gourmet French food or just pure relaxation, this is a refuge for you. Our favorite room—-there are six--is the Bungalow room, which is adorned with beautiful mission furniture and Arts and Crafts décor. A close second is the Paris apartment, which, with the slightest imagination, could face out onto the Champs Elysees. Steve and Carmen Finn are the innkeepers. They are wonderful conversationalists, who live by the credo, “Strangers are friends whom we have not yet met.” They have extensive knowledge about architectural decoration, and have amassed an interesting collection of antiques in a barn on the property. As for breakfast, you will not go hungry or dissatisfied. Breakfasts are made from scratch and we were offered imaginative creations every morning. For dinner, noted chef Andre Delacroix, offers the best of French fare at his Brazos Belle Restaurant, which is located across the street from the Inn.

We stayed in the Isabella room for two nights and were blown away by the beauty of the room. The service and friendliness of Steve and Carmen exceeded expectations. The room was definitely big enough and the bed was very comfortable. We had access to the wrap around porch on the main house and the views and scenery were breathtaking. We definitely will be staying at the Knittel Homestead again and highly recommend anyone looking to stay at a bed and breakfast to stay at the Knittel.

The restorations they have done on these homes is phenominal! The rooms are very well appointed, private, large & felt like home. Steve's breakfast is worth the visit in itself... what a masterpiece!! Although we now live in the area, I'm looking forward to another visit to their lovely home. This jewel is not to be missed!
