Great views from this cabin. Love the trails & delicous muffins. This was our third visit and our second stay in this cabin. The owners are a delight and very helpful.

Always enjoy the stay at the 9E. It's off the beaten path, no intrusions, and great sleeping! The supplied farm fresh eggs and home made muffins are great.

Scenic, comfortable, friendly, lovely ranch!

A great spring get away; loved the longhorns, mini horses, horses and chickens as we walked among flowers and pasture, ponds and more of God' beauty!

Another restful weekend

We have be sharing this slice of space between heaven and earth with the Bohls for over 12 years. We try to make a visit at least annually. The really neat thing about 9E is that there is nothing to do...if you don't want to do it! This trip we never left the property...except for dinner. We usually visit Smithsville, or Bastrop during the day, but this time the weather was perfect for lying under the tall pines and listening to the wind move across the land...so we did. There isn't a more relaxing place on earth! We love the Eagles Nest and have stayed there all but one time. The place is super clean, private and with a view that just won't stop! We miss Joan's cooking, but the farm fresh eggs were a delight along with the muffins. I can't tell you all the wonderful memories we have at 9E, they are just endless. In Bastrop you can find an assortment of restaurants to meet any taste's desire. Antique shops are plentiful in Smithsville and in the spring Bluebonnets are everywhere. I know we will be back...it's at the top of our list when we need to push the pause button on our hectic lives. You should too...and visit 9E!

Daisy cottage was superb

The Longhorns and mini donkeys greeted us when we arrived. After they wondered off a few deer even came to visit before sunset. We had a very relaxing and peaceful visit. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place. Connie Elliott

Definitely recommended this place to friends and family. Very nice cottage, beautiful views and peaceful. Enjoyed my stay very much. Kent and Joan seem friendly and down to earth. Also the eggs they leave from their chickens are some of the best I've ever had.

Great cabins, beautiful property

4.2 on January 21, 2015

Stayed at one of the several cabins at 9E over the weekend (Lone Star). The smallest of their rentals, it was quite charming and very rustic. I really enjoyed the privacy (although this cabin in particular is a bit too close to the property drive in and out- you are very aware of everyone coming and going). Eagles nest is at the back of the cabin section of the property and would be my recommendation for future rentals- though Lone Star was very nice in it's own right. There isn't a full breakfast served, but fresh eggs (when the chickens are laying) and homemade muffins were set out in the cabin, which were quite nice- but this was explained before renting, so no surprises there. The kitchen is well stocked with all needed equipment (and then some). Coffee and tea are provided as are a couple of water bottles. The bathroom (for Lone Star) is very.. efficient (it IS a cabin!). My only issue is the sulphur smell to the water. The owner mentioned that the cabin had been vacant for a couple of weeks, so that can be an issue sometimes. She had used some chorine tablets prior to my arrival, but the water hadn't run enough to get it out of the pipes. The smell was mostly gone by my 2nd day there. I was very kindly offered a discount for future rentals due to the inconvenience- a nice touch by the owner, though I really didn't feel that I was inconvenienced at all by this small thing. The property itself is quite beautiful- there are many acres of hiking trails to explore and some very nice pastures and woods within the property, with lots of wildlife. I saw several deer running through the woods while hiking in the afternoon. My favorite spot was a particularly beautiful pine tree "grove" (small forest?) in the middle of the property. Very nice spot close to a lot of things to do, or quite nice for doing nothing as well. I would be glad to go back.

Friendly couple and beautiful setting
