As you turn into the Fort Wood historic District you are presented with this majestic Victorian Romanesque mansion built in castle-like proportions. It is rich in history and situated on top of a former Civil War Fort. This 13,000 ft. historic mansion tells of its history as you walk from room to room. From the original Mayor's Library to the Ladies Withdrawing Room, guests can get a glimpse into what Victorian life might have been. From Interstate 24, take Highway 27 North (Marked "Downtown Exit) then exit onto Fourth Street exit 1C. (Marked "Aquarium Exit") Continue on Fourth Street for 1.2 miles, passing Market Street, UTC Roundhouse gym and a Civil War Cemetery. Turn right on Palmetto Street at the brown and white Fort Wood Historic District sign. Continue on Palmetto Street one and one-half block to Vine Street. Turn left on Vine Street and left into the parking area.
