The Applegate Inn represents the apex of comfort in Lee, Mass and surrounding communities. The Inn is a lovely New England mansion with dining room serving breakfast, large living room with fireplace and sunroom for gatherings with evening wine/cheese and a pool. The proprietors, Len and Gloria, are very social and convey an inviting and relaxed style that is welcoming to their guests. This inn is the best accommodation for nearby attractions such as the Jacob's Pillow Summer Dance Festival and Tanglewood. Don't miss it!!
My husband and I stayed at the Brook Farm Inn while in Lenox seeing two shows at Tanglewood. It was lovely! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was different each day and was delicious. I would highly recommend visiting this in on your next trip to Lenox, Ma.
Brook Farm Inn has been a popular Destination in the Berkshires for my husband and I for many, many years. Phil and Linda retired in July of this year, but rest assured that Angela, Robert and John are keeping up the traditions that the Inn is noted for: great breakfast and conversation with the staff; quick and thorough cleaning by housekeeping staff, great choice of rooms and suites, lovely gardens and pool. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH BROOK FARM INN! Elizabeth Tedoldi
The Federal House Inn was an exceptional find. We were able to stay just one night, unlike most others in the area. The proximity to Stockbridge and Tanglewood made it a treat. The grounds and the lovely, large room made it a wonderful stay. We were also impressed by the wine and cheese at 5 pm and the breakfast the next morning was simply sublime!! Definitely planning a return stay!
Everything about staying at the Applegate Inn is easy. From having our reservation ready to getting snacks to leaving at the end... it is all smooth. The people there are friendly and helpful, and never overbearing. We also lucked into a beautiful day weather-wise, and were able to enjoy the pool and yard.
My wife and I stayed in this sweet painted lady for two nights while visiting the Berkshires for theater and sightseeing. The staff was exceptional. Chris, Mel, Jen, and Kelly were the best! It was our anniversary and the ladies assembled a beautiful freshly picked bouquet of flowers and drew a handmade card for us and delivered it to our room. The B&B is right in the heart of Lenox which is one of most charming towns in the region. Breakfast was delicious too! Highly recommend staying at the Rookwood Inn!
My wife and I have stayed at this Inn three times with our friends and it has been the best - Especially morning breakfast - The food is great. In the afternoon we sit by the outdoor pool or take a dip - Really nice. The interior of the Inn is really interesting - Antiques and beautiful books everywhere. The Inn keepers are the best.
We booked late and so received the only available room - in the garret (mansion - 3rd floor). It contained a comfortable bed and an ample bathroom but was not well lit. The shower was not very effective and the air conditioner of an old style and noisy. The public rooms were interesting, particularly the library of this 18th C house. Overall I would recommend a stay in this house but not in 'The Goodwin' room.
This was our second stay at the Federal House Inn. As before, Brian and Kolleen were delightful, friendly, helpful innkeepers. Their staff keeps the Inn spotless--no small feat for an old house. They, too, are sweet, friendly, and efficient workers. We had the Skylight Suite, which we love--two bathrooms and double beds for two women. Plus a little sitting room. The breakfasts were deeeeelicious! Wine, cheese, and crackers are available every afternoon at 5:00. Brandy available, too. A truly pleasant place to stay--worth every penny!
Brook Farm Inn is beautifully appointed and conveniently located just down the road from Tanglewood. The rooms and the grounds are charming and meticulously maintained. The morning breakfast served in the dining area was delicious. Our room was tiny but lovely. The only problem is that for people with mobility issues, the stairs are very steep, especially the staircase to the third floor.
We stayed at the Stockbridge Country Inn during the 4th of July weekend. We were greeted by the innkeeper who was delightful. Our room, the Ben's Suite was so quaint and cozy. The breakfast and service was beyond what we expected. All the other guests were friendly. It was a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.
This was such a nice place, it's a huge old house right outside the center of town, very close to tanglewood. It's in a neighborhood with other houses so it's not a "farm" exactly but we loved it. We didn't eat onsite, but I'm sure that's great too. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. I'd go live there if I could afford it.
I surprised my wife with a night just to get away for our anniversary as a spur of the moment idea and we were both pleasantly surprised, the inn keeper and owners were very service oriented and made sure we were comfortable. Let us upgrade the room and we're very informative.
Lenny and Gloria were very gracious hosts. Pam gave a complete tour at the beginning of our stay. Ann Marie cooked great breakfast. The warm outdoor pool was delightful. There is a well kept 9 hole golf course literally just across the street. There is a list of local restaurants with the type of cuisines invluded. A large library with books and movie tapes. Just a wonderful place to relax!! Richard & Elizabeth (May 2015 visit)
as usual, The Birchwood made the weekend the best--beginning with the gourmet breakfasts and moving onto the at-home feeling when sitting on the huge front porch, reading. Ellen has her pulse on all local activities and her recommendations for our anniversary dinner were spot-on. We have never had a disappointing time at the Birchwood
With just one evening to get away, we chose The Federal House and couldn't be happier. The Inn is lovely, the grounds, beautiful and the service, spectacular! We enjoyed wine and cheese upon arrival on the front porch, meeting a few other guests and taking in the evening and sharing dinner ideas. The room itself was clean & bright, the only drawback (we stayed in the Crabtree room,) being the mattress. We found it a bit uncomfortable, but not enough to deter us from a future stay. The best part was the incredible delicious breakfast in the morning. Honestly we found it more delightful than the very pricey meal we had the evening before at a different establishment down the road from the Inn! Overall The Federal House is one of our new favorites and we cannot wait for another chance to visit!
Very lovely inn and warm and gracious host. Breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious. Only criticism is that the bathroom/shower were very small. Potential guests should just be aware that there's not a lot of room to turn around in the bathroom. It worked out for us but might not work for anyone of substantial girth.
Three days and two nights in an elegant establishment. Hosts were there when we needed them, generous offerings of wine, cheese, chocolate and brandy in the evenings, and a breakfast that made you want to get out of bed! Everything was so pleasant, we could overlook the spring snow! Very helpful hosts gave us pointers on how to best enjoy our time in their neck of the woods.
Outstanding property with friendly and knowledgeable owners and staff. Building and grounds in impeccable condition with true pride of ownership evident throughout our stay. Tasteful and comfortable rooms filled with antiques and wood burning fireplaces. A real treat and definite return venue! Michael and Daria, Cape Cod
