Built by an original Welsh settler prior to 1720 the house was added to in 1740 and completed in 1791 to create the overall traditional colonial appearance. The oldest part of the house, the "old kitchen" conveys much of the colonial charm and history of the house. Title deeds can be traced back to William Penn in 1681.

Many homes date from pre-revolutionary times through the Victorian era. You will find some tourist activities in Germantown as well as many historic and cultural sites downtown. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED, preferably on internet since we are not usually home during the day to take phone calls.

The John Kindig House Bed & Breakfast is a plaster over clapboard farmhouse. Built in 1864 by John Kindig on land purchased in 1792 by his grandfather, the property was used as a diary farm for a time and remained in the Kindig family for most of the 19th century. Today the house is a tasteful blend of antique furnishings, original artwork and up-to-date accommodations.
