We were looking for a quiet spot, well located to do various one-day-trips to the magnificent countrysides and villages north of Madrid, that we knew from the years we lived in Madrid 25 years ago, and Camino de Soto exceeded all expectations from the start. Not only the rooms with all their charming details made us feel at home, Ian and Juan Carlos were great hosts, always helpful when we needed it. Ian is an excellent baker and surprised us every morning wih a new creation at the wonderfully decorated breakfasttable. And the taste of the dinner they prepared for us is still on our tongue. Next time we have to stay longer . ( Sorry for possible mistakes, english is not my native language )

After spending the first part of our visit in and around cities, our stay at Camino de Soto was a wonderfully relaxing change. The home is beautifully decorated and the luxurious room gave us an amazing view of the scenic landscape. Ian gave us great suggestions as we planned our itinerary--he even gave us a great lead for buying soccer tickets in Barcelona. We took advantage of his tour guide skills and explored places we would never have found or been able to reach on our own. If you go, be sure to splurge and have Ian and Juan Carlos prepare one of their dinners for you. Delicious!

I usually don't have high standard for B&B, but Camino deSoto was different. We loved the beautiful room with cute staircases to the loft, and every single rooms in the house. The view was outstanding! Especially after staying in hustle bustle of the big city, it was a treat to have gorgeous view from our own room. Meals that Ian and Juan Carlos served were amazing also. We really want to go back Camino deSoto sometime soon in the future! The whole place was really clean (they even iron the sheets!) which we really appreciated. Thank you Ian and Juan Carlos (they are very charming and amazing people)!

We stayed 2 times already in this B&B close to Madrid, and both times we had a great stay. The place is only a 40 mins drive from Madrid town and in a very quiet area, with splendid views towards the "sierra". Ian and Juan Carlos are great hosts and will make sure that you feel comfortable and have all you need during your stay. The rooms are nice and clean, especially the "la pedriza" one, a huge suite with the best views towards the mountains. We enjoyed waking up with birds singing and a delicious breakfast waiting for us. We also booked dinner one night which was delicious too, but Ian and Juan Carlos will also give you tips where to dine around the area. We hope we wil be back soon!

Our stay at Camino de Soto was our top travel experience so far. The villa itself is beautiful, the views are stunning and Ian and Juan Carlos are superb hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and the service they provided outdid anything we have come across in any other setting. Fantastic breakfasts, helpful travel tips, tours and taxi-ing. We will be back.

Everything about our stay here was simply amazing. The villa is beautiful with stunning views but above all the service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for Ian and Juan Carlos and they went out of their way to ensure that our stay was everything we could have wished for and more. We WILL be back!

We are a 65 + couple who travel quite a lot and like to stay in special places and have a chance to meet and communicate with local citizens. We enjoyed our 3 day stay in Camino de Soto. This was the final "leg" of our relatively short trip to Porto - Guarda/Belmonte - Salamanca - Madrid area. It was a perfect choice and we enjoyed the warm hospitality of Ian and Juan Carlos. They were kind enough to offer us administrative help prior to arriving. Since our trip had been mainly to cities it was nice to stay in the countryside and enjoy nature. Ian's cooking is great. Lovely breakfasts and an excellent dinner. We really recommend this place for those driving with a GPS. You do need a car here!

The room was great and the hosts the best - they made us feel welcome. The location is outside the city and a perfect location for daily car trips or staying local in the villages around the area.

We only stayed for one night at Camino de Soto but we felt welcome at once and we were impressed by the friendly host. these people have a good taste and pay attention on almost everything, but at the same time know how to keep one's distance. we also had diner and it was delicious. we can highly recommend the chicken with prunes an the warm garbano salad. we used this place as a last stop on our little holiday in central Spain before flying from Madrid. It felt as the best choice. we certainly would return to this place, also for a longer stay. Muchas gracias!

Beside the wonderfull house and it's warm atmosphere, lush garden with pool, stunning backyard views, tasty breakfast, four o'clock delights, personal guide information, several species of birds passing by all the time, etc..................., there is one other thing that is probably the most important. Ian and Juan Carlos are two people that really "enjoy" hosting people. It's not a job for them. The moment you enter the house they make you feel, and they wan't you to feel at home. They offer you all the opportunities from A to Z, and it's all up to you. No obligations, no stress and all at a level of excellence. Exactly like a good holiday should be, Spain at it's best spiced up with a flavor of American fluency and openness. Are you a silent type? No problem! You want a good conversation or an everyday talk, they are "the" specialists. You weren't there yet? What are you waiting for? Dirk and Kris. While on the way to Eastern Europe my wife and I decided to stay in Spain for a few days. We are from a very large city, so we wanted to be away from the crowd in Madrid. The Camino de Soto appeared from the photos and info online to be a good alternative. When we arrived in Madrid Ian picked us up at the airport (for a reasonable fee) and took us to the B&B which the pictures can simply not do justice. The home is immaculate and beautifully situated with a stunning view of the mountains to the north. Ian and Juan Carlos have meticulously planned and graced the grounds with 100-year old olive trees and a variety of other plantings. The house is as comfortable as being at home. We arranged for Ian to cook a few evening meals and were not disappointed. Besides wonderful entrees, Ian made artisan bread which was superb. He is quite the chef! We also opted to have Ian take us on a couple of day trips to Toledo and Segovia. We found, to our great surprise, that the mountains to the north are unexpectedly picturesque. Ian is also a knowledgeable guide. It was like taking a trip to a friend’s house in another country! We will certainly return in the future and have nothing but the highest praise for Camino de Soto and its owners. ¡Muchas gracias!

My friend and I spent almost 2 weeks in total at this lovely bed and breakfast. The owners were very courteous, friendly, very helpful and willing to assist us with travel to other locations and basically ensuring that we enjoyed our vacation. Inside is immaculate, beautifully decorated, comfortable and relaxing. The location is stunning with a great mountain view in the heart of Spain’s countryside. The breakfast was excellent with homemade bread, attention to quality and prompt. Service was phenomenal, the owners are very helpful in giving you maps and suggesting interesting places to explore. Highly recommended!!!!

In looking for a B&B in Spain just outside of Madrid my wife Noreen and I were lucky to have found Camino de Soto. After speaking with the owners JC ( Juan Carlos) and Ian we were convinced just by their attentiveness to our e-mails, that we made the right choice, and after arriving at the location which is absolutely spectacular we were conviced. The location at the foot of a magnificent mountain range is breathtaking. The accomodations are spacious, clean, accessible, user friendly and comfortable to return to. The location is not far from Madrid, there is public parking in the town of Tres Cantos a few miles to the south and a train to Madrid just across the street from the public lot taking you right into Central Madrid. Once again we cannot express how lucky we were to have found this wonderful spot and hope to visit again.. Bob and Noreen L.

We have enjoyed our stay so much and can recommend to everybody else to stay there. The house is pretty and located on the mountain side. There is a lovely garden and a pool. Our room (La Pediza) was beautiful and very clean and we had a stunning view on the landscape just from the bed. The bathroom is also very pretty and clean. The owners of Camino de Soto are terribly nice and caring. Breakfast was gorgeous! The house is situated between Madrid City and the mountains in the North of Madrid. The owners prepared a folder for the guests which contains a lot of proposals for sightseeing trips in the area. The mountains are not far and also the city of Madrid is not far away. There are also many other interesting little old cities to visit. Also you can do a lot of hiking and there are great routes in the mountains for biking. It is possible to go by train to Madrid down town. The train station is about 10 min. by car. Also by car you need only 30 - 45 min to go to downtown Madrid.
