The Shelton's hospitality was matched only by the beauty and quiet atmoshphere of the Garden House B&B. My wife and I have 3 teenage boys and needed a brief "Couple" getaway. All stars in every category! Congenial hosts, fellow guests -- the epitome of gracious, southern hospitality. Beautiful house, with porches, veranda, and series of gardens. And the food -- oh, my -- perfection.

The purpose of our short vacation was to explore the Upcountry of South Carolina, specifically Greenville with its revitalized Central Business District. We stayed at the Garden House in Simpsonville, a short drive down the Interstate from Greenville. The Garden House lives up to our expectations. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable, spacious, attractive, and private. The breakfasts were different each day (we stayed for four nights) as well as delicious and filling. We didn't "run out of gas" in the middle of the day which allowed us to further explore Greenville and surrounding communities. The yard is a one of a kind beauty, meticulously cared for by Roy. While our stay was enhanced by the facilities it was made even more so by Frances and Roy. They are gracious hosts and most interesting conversationalists. We won't hesitate to schedule another stay.

... when not expecting much after having stayed at some many hotels before and than you step into this wondrful place! Never thought that business trips could become that nice ... well at least as far as accomodation is concerned .... and not just the room itself ... it's the overall atmosphere / the "feel at home & getting spoiled" feeling starting from the place itself (house, rooms, garden etc) and definitely not stopping with Frances & Roy's warm welcome & magnificent way of looking after you (that includes a breathtaking breakfast every morning) .... unfortunately I was pretty busy on that trip so I could not spend enough time at teh Gardenhouse .... yet enxt time I will ......

We so enjoyed our host's hospitality, our lovely, comfy room, awesome food. We frequent B&Bs and this one is a real "stand-out!"

Upon seeing the formal garden, followed by a more natural scape, we knew we had a great place. Francis & Roy have created a warm & welcoming escape where no detail is overlooked. The house is lovely and comfortable. We highly recommend The Garden House.

The Garden House is a beautiful Victorian home which was renovated in the early 2000's. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton live on the third floor, leaving the first and second (very spacious) floors for their guests. I was able to experience the new living room TV, which Mr. Shelton noted had a 60' screen. I stayed at the Garden House for 11 nights during a two week trip to the Greenville area. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton are truly kind and friendly hosts who strive to make their guests feel comfortable. I thought 11 days worth of breakfast would push Mrs. Shelton to her limits, but somehow she managed to make me a new, delicious breakfast creation every morning. She is an outstanding cook.

Frances Shelton is an outstanding innkeeper. Everything exceeded my expectations. The inn is a palace and Frances will make you feel at home the instant you walk in. But, don't think you'll be able to remain on your summer diet. Frances will provide you w. a sumptuous amount of delicious Southern hospitality. And that's all there is to it! Leeds Levy

Our overnight stay at the Garden House Bed and Breakfast was one of our best stopovers at a B&B. Beautifully restored house and war, friendly hostess. The house and gardens are truly lovely.

My husband had never stayed at a B & B before. What a wonderful first time. Roy and Francis were wonderful and full of local information. We were very comfortable being around both of them. Our room was wonderful with a full bath, and to say that the breakfast was great would be an understatment. A walk through the back garden in back was picture perfect. We intend to go back soon. As previous guests have noted in their reviews, Roy and Frances have fashioned their Garden House B&B into one very outstanding B&B! We enjoyed every minute! We shared champagne on the back porch in the late afternoon, overlooking Roy’s incredibly manicured garden. (Frances was gracious to offer her real glass flutes to replace my traveling plastic flutes!) Our beds were so comfortable, breakfast was a beautiful feast and visiting with Roy and Frances was inspiring. Their home is so beautifully decorated that I thought they might have hired a decorator. I’m in awe -- Frances did it all herself! I might also add, the house was so clean that there wasn’t a spec of dust anywhere! After I saw how adorable this B&B was, I longed for more time at the Garden House B&B so I could curl up on every one of the precious porches and enjoy the peace and quiet offered there. We will be back!

Garden house innkeepers enjoy their guests & show it with fantastic breakfast, served family-style. Frances loves to discuss her garden. Her 68-year-old husband will tell you his adventures on the AT at age 60!

Personalized service sets this quaint Inn apart from many others. The Gardens were amazing!

We made "last minute reservations" and were able to hit a window of opportunity to have the room we wished. The Property is absolutely charming. Well lit rooms, VERY QUIET. Soft music and a very receptive welcome greet you upon arrival. Very spacious so that you can have privacy if you choose or indulge in conversation in the public spaces. The B&B has typical "Southern charm" and the place is simply a joy to rest and refresh at. Wonderful tall pin oaks and a bird sanctuary on the grounds are an added bonus. We peered into other unfilled rooms and each has it's individual charm and theme. The gardens and grounds offer tranquility and relaxation should you choose to be out-of-doors. Simpsonville is close to Greenville and is a very typical old southern town that "time is passing by." So, you can have a great relaxing stay and still have all the amenities of our hectic day to day pace, near by. (Free wireless, if for some odd reason you need to be connected on vacation.) The food was ample and very good. Fresh seasonal fruit, pastries, great coffee, etc., etc. How can you go wrong? We plan to return there again.

My husband and I just stayed for one day, but it was well worth it. We are never able to get away and I haven't been away from our six year old EVER!! Would do it again soon if we ever get the chance

The innkeepers (Frances and Roy) are very accommodating. From cleanliness of the rooms, fantastic meals, relaxing walks through the garden, information on local sightseeing and general conversation we couldn't have asked for a better B&B. We have stayed at others before and never felt like we were family. Thank you.. If in the area again we will certainly look into availability at the inn.

We enjoyed our stay at The Garden House. Our room and the expansive bath were immaculate and well-appointed for our visit. The guest areas were beautifully decorated and inviting for guests to relax and read, watch television, or enjoy the gardens. The hosts were friendly and very helpful in tips and information about local places to eat and visit. We would certainly choose to visit again at The Garden House.

What a great experience staying at this B&B was. It exceeded our expectations for our 1st anniversary!

The Garden House was all we hoped it would be and more. The room was very comfortable, the bed was ENORMOUS, we had long soaks in our claw foot tub, and we enjoyed a view of the lovely garden. Frances and Roy are the consummate hosts, and we were fortunate to be able to spend some time with their son Frank, who was visiting after his second tour in Iraq. Frances is definitely not a Continenatl Breakfast type of hostess, and we feasted on creamed eggs, baked french toast (made from bread she baked herself), and egg souffles. There was always beer and wine available, proper pots, cups and saucers for our tea, and our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. We will definitely make it a point to visit The Garden House the next time we are in South Carolina.

What a beautiful place. Roy and Frances are great and this place is just right for any occation. This was a belated honeymoon and this will be a great anniversary spot.

Beautiful grand home and gardens with modern amenities. One of our favorites.

My husband and I live locally but chose this as an escape from our reality for a night, and it was more than worth it. The innkeepers are extremely friendly, and even helped us find a place for dinner that evening (offering to make a reservation for us as well). The entire house (inside and out) was immaculate, and the furniture was simply beautiful. Breakfast the next morning was amazing, and never did we feel rushed through our stay. I look forward to many returns to this Inn, and will be recomending the Inn to friends and family.

My husband and I stayed at the Garden House over Labor Day weekend. The house was just beautiful. Tastefully decorated, with beautiful antiques. The bedrooms were big, clean and very comfortable. They all had a bathroom. Frances and Roy were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. My husband said he has never slept so good away from home, which is amazing! We will definately stay at the Garden House again on our next trip down to see our kids and grandkids.

This bed and breakfast is first class. The rooms are elegant, clean, roomy and very comfortable. The breakfasts were great. Roy & Frances were interesting and fun to talk to. The highlight of this inn is the outside grounds. Roy is a professional class landscaper. The flowers were gorgeous. Would recommend this inn for your next stay.

I will definitely stay here again. It was a very pleasant business trip. Wonderful library to seat a small group for business meetings. All of the bedrooms are great, especially the ones on the back of the house away from street. The owners are wonderful and make you feel right at home. Beautiful grounds immaculately maintained.

My new husband booked this Bed and Breakfast as a surprise for me. We arrived at 11PM and both Frances and Roy were waiting. A table with candlelight was set up on the porch upon our arrival where we had a light dinner we had brought from the reception. It was dark and I couldn't see the beauty of the garden but I could smell the rosemary and gardenias. The room was wonderful, the bathroom luxurious and the next morning the breakfast view of the garden was spectacular! Roy and Frances are gracious hosts and we will surely visit this B&B again.

The price of our rooms were very reasonable, Frances is a very polite individual, the rooms were decorated very nicely and the landscape was well done.

this is the best b&b that i have ever visited. not only was our room beautiful with great views of the garden, but Frances spoiled us with an elegant breakfast on the back porch.she even let us choose what time to eat

My wife and I stayed there after I returned from Iraq on my first deployment in 2005, and had a wonderful stay. The proprieters are warm friendly people that make you feel at home. The town had the small town feelign to it while having everything you could need nearby with Greenville a short distance away. All the amenities you could ever ask for or want. I recommend this location to all my friends and will return to this B&B again.

For our October honeymoon, I organized a surprise trip through the Smokies to the Atlantic coast and back to St. Louis. This B&B was by far the best of all my wife and I encountered. Roy & Frances are very friendly, knowledgable, and hospitable! The Inn is wonderfully warm and cozy. The gardens are beautiful. This B&B will certainly be on our list for our next trip east!

My stay was so wonderful with my only regret being that I could not stay longer. The house was beautiful and clean and the rooms spacious and quiet. Roy and Frances were great hosts and fixed a delicious hot breakfast. The gardens are beautiful. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stay at Bed and Breakfasts as often as possible for a more unique experience.The pictures surely do not capture the beauty of this home or the gardens!This was by far the most lovely, spa-like retreat experience we ever had.We felt completely at ease as guests in the home of Roy and Frances-unfortunately we could only stay one nite-I was ready to stay!! Don't miss this experience!

We were wanting to getaway for the weekend and just relax and were able to do just that. Frances and Roy's house was very lovely and our bedroom was spacious and the bath spectacular. We were able to sit on the veranda and view the lovely garden or just look out from the bedroom. Frances fixed very nice breakfasts with homemade bakery items and the other items were top quality. It is also close to Greenville SC where we discover the shops of downtown along with a Fall Festival. Highest recommendations as a great place for a couple to spend a night or two.

An almost missed opportunity. On Thursday night we stayed in Greenville at another B&B but were unable to confirm for Friday night and found this "Gem", instead. We were so glad we did!!! For the second year in a row my association's executive board has held our summer retreat here and I do mean TREAT. Frances and Roy cannot be more gracious hosts. The accomodations are simply beautiful and breakfast on the verandah can't be beat. They are within walking distance to a wonderful restaurant for dinner. The whole experience is awesome. I look forward to our next stay!

We stayed at the Garden House on a couples' weekend, and couldn't have had a better time. The rooms were well apportioned and comfortable, the food was delicious, and Roy and Frances could not have been more perfect hosts. We were very close to all there was to do in Greenville and the surrounding areas. I can not say enough good things about our experience at the Garden House. We will definitely be back!!

A BEAUTIFUL home with gracious hosts! Frances and Roy are lovely people who helped us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. Our room was gorgeous...just as we pictured in our minds' eye. Frances' suggestion of a quiet local resaurant just a couple blocks down the street (a lovely little walk) offered a fantastic dinner. Upon rising, Frances served yummy breakfast in the dining room: fritatas with fresh bits of herbs and cheese, as well as fresh fruit salad and breafast rolls and danish. YUM! Our experience and the Garden House Bed and Breakfast was OUTSTANDING in every way! It is experiences like these in life that make giggle with delight...Kudos to Frances and Roy!

One never knows how the "real" B&B will compare to the information provided. In this case, the actual was even better than advertised. Beautiful grounds, lovely accomodations, outstanding breakfast; great hosts. Truly worth the trip.
