About

We are a stately bed & breakfast Inn located on 190 mountain view acres with six romantic Victorian style cottages (with pet-friendly available). For your romantic getaway weekend or as the ultimate wedding venue, experience the award-winning Red Horse Inn! Each cottage has a bedroom, bath, kitchen, living room with fireplace, decks or patios, color TV and AC. Three have sleeping lofts and whirlpool bath tubs. Two cottages have private outdoor spas. There are also six romantic rooms in the main Inn. We are located off the Scenic Route 11 within minutes of some of the finest SC parks. We are in the middle of fox hunting country which takes place in the fall to early spring. Our area boasts golfing, tennis, antiquing, sporting clays, hunting and fishing. The Flatrock Playhouse and The Peace Center offer professional performing arts productions, or our guests can simply relax and consume the refreshing mountain views from rocking chairs on the porch. My husband Roger and I are former advertising designers and old house restorers, now full-time hosts. We supply a breakfast basket with muffins or croissants, fruit and juice, coffee and all condiments.

Secret Hideaway

5 on April 25, 2016

My wife and I had knowledge of this facility for more than 10 years and decided to go and check it out on the 20th. Being married for 24 plus years, The Red Horse Inn was the perfect location for our getaway! Really enjoyed it.

Great Anniversary Getaway!

4.6 on April 24, 2016

We stayed in the Springhouse Cottage and loved the privacy and intimacy this setting provided. We really enjoyed the information provided by the staff for the self guided covered bridges and waterfalls tour in the local region. We will be back.

best honeymoon

5 on April 16, 2016

We were looking for a place for our honeymoon and this was perfect! The view and grounds are gorgeous, the room was beautiful and so comfortable! We would wake up lazily, have a relaxing breakfast then either walk the grounds on one of the many trails or go for a drive to another of the small towns not to far away and have a wonderful lunch or dinner. I would and do highly recommend the red house inn to anybody looking to relax and get away from normal life

Beautiful Anniversary Weekend

5 on April 07, 2016

This was our first visit to The Red Horse Inn and I was extremely impressed. Roger and Mary were wonderful hosts from our first meeting until the moment we left. Our room (The Dovecote) was even more beautiful than all of the pictures we'd seen. The inn is situated on acres and acres of breathtaking land and is such a peaceful environment. My husband and I enjoyed every minute celebrating our anniversary here. Thank you again Roger and Mary for making it one of the best for us!!!

Outstanding resort at the foothils of the mountains

4.0 on April 02, 2016

The only reason my review is not "outstanding" for all categories is that this website did not allow me to choose that option. Needs to be fixed because Red Horse Inn is definitely outstanding on all categories. Very tranquil and relaxing setting, We will definitely be back.

Excellent Spot for a Weekend Getaway

4.8 on March 24, 2016

My wife and I spent a great weekend relaxing at the Red Horse Inn and exploring around the towns of Landrum, Tryon, and Saluda. The room was very clean and well appointed and Roger and Mary were very friendly. Our in-room breakfast of quiche and muffins was delicious and nice to enjoy at our leisure. We will definitely be back, and we highly recommend this inn to anyone who is looking for a place to get away and relax!

Stable good

The Red Horse Inn delivered a romantic, quiet and peaceful stay, which surpassed my expectations.

Always one of our favorite places!

4.8 on March 01, 2016

From the moment you arrive, you feel special, secluded and at peace. The owners, Mary and Roger, are just wonderful. The cottages are beautiful and well-decorated. The views are beautiful. It is so nice you don't have to get dressed to go to breakfast because it is already provided in your, and dinner can be delivered to your room as well (which affects the quality ever so slightly but it is still marvelous). If you are looking for a place to relax and be at peace while relaxing in a hot tub overlooking the mountains, this is it!

Lovely Getaway

3.8 on March 01, 2016

My husband and I were looking for an overnight getaway on Valentine's Day and The Red Horse Inn was absolutely perfect! The owners are very friendly and helpful and run a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. The cottage we stayed in was really lovely, quiet and private, which is exactly what we wanted. I would recommend The Red Horse Inn to anyone looking for a quiet getaway for any occasion.

Beautiful place, a perfect getaway

Queen - $245 - Detailed woodworking dominates the decorating of the Huntbox Cottage. Dark wood tones and leather look wing chairs provide the feeling of warmth and cozy comfort. Stone-like tile floors are covered with deep red oriental rugs. The upstairs loft provides a leather-like sofa bed, perfect for snuggling or stretching out with that great novel you've meant to read. The theme of the 1066 Normandy battles decorates the fireplace mantel and adorns the bed pillows. The overall feel of the cottage reminds one of an old English library. The whirlpool tub in the spacious bathroom adds that extra special touch to this already luxurious cottage. This cottage can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. Bring your dog for only only $25 pet cleaning fee.

The private deck off the bedroom provides the perfect resting spot after a long day hiking in the mountains, walking the trails or antiquing in town. It is our special cottage, as the deck leads to your own private outdoor spa. This two-person jetted spa is the perfect place to view the stars at night! The spacious deck also provides two luxurious lounge chairs. Quiet and spacious, the Springhouse lets you sleep feeling luxuriously pampered on our king-size “Tempur-Pedic®” mattress. The blue and white color scheme is carried throughout the cottage with decorator chintz pillows and toile wallpaper. The pair of blue velvet high-back wing chairs in front of the fireplace offer quiet repose. Morning glories tumble down the walls of the bedroom, adorning the white four poster bed... it seems natural that morning glories grow outside the bedroom window. From the bedroom you can watch the horses graze in the pasture or doze in the barn. Outside you can inhale the view and delight in the pond filled with Japanese koi, enlivened by the sound of the gurgling fountain. Or, enjoy the relaxing warmth of the spa hot tub on the deck, very romantic! This is the best, most luxurious place to view the stars at night or enjoy the view during the day. When you lay your head down at night you will find yourself pleasantly inspired by the beautiful writings of love and romance artistically inscribed on the parchment-like walls. The spacious whirlpool tub in the bath is complemented by plush oversized towels. Sunrise from the front porch is awe-inspiring and sunset from the deck off the bedroom is a reverent experience.

Queen - $210 - The Stables Cottage is unique among South Carolina bed & breakfasts. This upstairs accomodation is great for a romantic adult getaway, but it's also one of the best available luxury pet-friendly cabin rentals in the Blue Ridge Mountains area. When considering cozy cabins, NC pet-friendly travelers and SC travelers agree: The Stables Cottage is perfect for romantic anniversary vacations and all great weekend getaways, Southeast-style. The Stables Cottage has four lovely gables with soaring ceilings, one of which houses the lovely queen size four poster bed with sheer fabric, making it just as suitable for romantic winery getaways! From the bed you can view the fireplace and sitting area, complete with TV with DVD player. Another gable houses the kitchenette. The bathroom fits luxuriously in the last gable and is complete with a large shower stall, sink, vanity and plenty of room to lounge.

Sheer fabric drapes from the beams create an ethereal and romantic atmosphere. Decorated in all whites and beiges, the brass bed rests its head against a bank of three windows that capture the mountain view. Two cream colored wing chairs sit in front of the fireplace, the perfect place for enjoying your in-room breakfast left for you in the kitchen closet. Aviary Room

King - $180 - The Aviary Bedroom hosts a lovely Oriental flavored triptic of birds in flight. Blue and yellow toile, plaids and stripes give a bright and cheerful feel in contrast to the stately aviary prints. A cozy fireplace sitting area is the perfect place to enjoy reading about the fifty waterfalls for which the area is known. Two window seats look south over woodlands and distant pastures while the remaining two overlook the fish pond in the garden courtyard. A lovely view of the mountains can be enjoyed from the windows in the bath before taking that long soak in the whirlpool tub.

Manger Room

King - $175 - The Manger Bedroom is decorated in soft beige toile and petite checks reminiscent of France. The bank of windows above the King size bed looks out onto the garden courtyard. Two comfortable chairs are perfect for viewing the fireplace or watching TV. And of course, the whirlpool in the bathroom offers the relaxation one needs at the end of the day. Has potential of having two twin beds.
