In December of 2011, my wife and I planned a personal vacation to Charleston SC. It was "bucket list" location as my wife called it and although we had friends who provided us with some insight into what to do, we were on our own for where to stay. We found the most wonderful Bed and Breakfast at 106 Beaufain St. Vista Anne Grayson (a proper southern woman if ever there were one) is the Innkeeper and an unbelievably gracious host. We knew nothing of her BB in advance and found her via on-line search, literally accepting on face value the words of other reviewers and we were not disappointed in any way! The BB is magnificantly maintained with beautiful, comfortable, warm rooms. The piazza is a GREAT place to hang out in mornings and simply relax, read the paper, eat breakfast, etc. The breakfasts were a light fare of fresh fruit (hand selected by Vista of course!) and fresh pastries, plus coffee, tea and juice. We found this perfect as a starter for the day - not too heavy and delicious. Vista knows the city incredibly well and was able to provide us with tremendous guidance during our stay of three restful nights. Charleston was perfect ~ a walking city if there ever was one. We walked everywhere and felt safe and free to explore at will. Our trip coincided with the start of the their official holiday season and we were able to take advantage of the open air farmer's market in Marion Square (open weekends year round) and see some really neat activities. We will be back of course ~ there is much more to explore! Thanks to Vista for the wonderful stay and for making us feel so welcome to a city new to us but steeped in fine tradition. ~ New friends from Maryland.

    Innkeeper Response
Your review touched my heart...mainly because I have been thinking about you, your stay here, and your independence in navigating around every day. It was such fun to see you exploring and even finding hidden away places that even I didn't even know about! It was also nice to see you both unwind, relax and enjoy all that was "just waiting for you". I could never ask for more wonderful guests than you two and I sincerely hope you come back here again. You have such busy schedules that taking the time to write a review for me means that much more. Love to you two and your wonderful family! Merry Christmas!!!!

We wanted a nice anniversary getaway, and had never been to Charleston, though it is only 2 ½ hours from home. We chose Beaufain Street Bed & Breakfast for its balance of good reviews, value, and location, and are SO happy we did. This charming B&B is an excellent choice for those (like us) who are interested in feeling at home. The house is lovely – homey and elegant, with the most gorgeous green bedroom I’ve ever slept in. The bed was comfortable, warm, and inviting in the October weather, and the house’s port nightcap was delicious. All the rooms have elegant, old world charm, yet make you feel comfortable whether you are eating, reading, or just relaxing. The delightful and knowledgeable proprietor made us more then welcome, and quickly became a friend. The house is a convenient walking distance from all the downtown attractions, so we didn’t have to drive much. We’re looking forward to seeing more of Charleston, and to staying in this lovely place, again soon.

With my love, Vista....and thank you again for taking the time out of your busy life to write me a review. I appreciate it more than you know!

This was our first trip to Charleston - and we could not have made a better choice of a place to stay. Vista (the Innkeeper) was very helpful with navigating a new city. The location was perfect for touring historic Charleston and very comfortable. Should we return to Charleston, we will definitely stay here again! Thanks for making us feel "at home", Vista!

    Innkeeper Response

If you want to experience Charleston as the invited guest of a gracious Charlestonian, go straight to 106 Beaufain Street. Two friends of mine and I recently stayed at Vista Grayson's B&B and, almost immediately upon arrival, we felt like we had known her forever. The architectural features of the house are simply lovely, and her home is beautifully decorated. The rooms are absolutely meticulous, and the beds are comfortable. The visually appealing breakfast served on fine china presented us with berries and melon that were sweet and fresh. Along with delectable pastries, there was a nice assortment of yogurt flavors. We would have loved to have lingered with our new friend Vista over her beautiful dining room table with just one more cup of coffee, but there was so much to see in Charleston. The battery, museums, art galleries, restaurants, etc. are within wallking distance of 106 Beaufain Street. This B&B has a wonderful porch upstairs off the guest bedroom, which is the perfect spot to eat, read or relax. It's obvious that Vista strives for excellence in offering guests a memorable B&B stay. Vista, we left Charleston quite satisfied, but a little sad that we had to leave you. You're the ideal hostess and a terrific person. Marnie, Mary Ellen and Carolyn

    Innkeeper Response
Marnie, Mary Ellen, and Carolyn. Thank you for the outstanding review. Having you here was a joy and renewed my love for this magnificent city. You'all did so much while you were here it put me to shame! Your close friendship with each other was obvious and loving. It made me want to be a part of it forever. It was a blessing and so much fun for me to have you stay here. I will always remember your laughter together and your genuine appreciation for the every little things I do to make staying here pleasing for my guests. I hope to see you again next year. With love to you three lovely new friends, Vista
