We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight at the Bloomsbury Inn. Katherine and Bruce are great hosts and the house is spectacular. If you are passing through the Camden area, be sure to book a room at the Bloomsbury.

Our stay exceeded our expectations in every way. The beautiful interior of the home, huge rooms, wonderful breakfast , and most of all the warmth and southern hospitality of Bruce and Katherine made this an unforgettable experience for my wife and me. We certainly plan to return.

We were looking for a pleasant layover on our trip down South and happened upon the Bloomsbury Inn - all I can say is wish we had more time there. The house is amazing, our room was fabulous, and Bruce and Katherine were the most gracious of hosts. The pictures do not so it justice, and the hospitality was beyond words. Do yourself a favor and go!

My wife and I have stayed at lot of B & B's in the Carolinas and the Bloomsbury Inn has set the bar for us. We had a couple of requests of Bruce and Katherine before we even arrived, that was to drop off our luggage early and to maybe have a late night snack waiting for us when we got back from a full day at an event in the area. The Browns where very gracious and did not hesitate in for filling both our requests, with warmth and smiles, I might add. Along with the personal attention, the Bloomsbury Inn has been doted on buy the Browns and their attention to detail makes it very easy to transport you back through time to the 1800's with all the elegance and luxury for that period of our Country, and at the same time provide for all the modern conveniences that any luxury Hotel would give. They have stuck a great balance with comfort and charm. After a great night’s sleep, we arose to a gourmet breakfast made by Katherine and Bruce, and enjoyed the company and conversation with other guests of the Inn and the Browns. These are the things that set apart memories of making new friends and discovering the colorful tapestry of life or just another overnight stay. When you spend a little time with Bruce and Katherine you quickly find out their devotion to the service of others and Country and they make you feel special and pampered at their 5 star Bloomsbury Inn. We had a delightful stay at Bloomsbury Inn and plan to return and take other friends. It is located in the charming and historical town of Camden SC and is a wonderful example of 19th century South Carolina architecture which has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail. Kudos to Katherine and Bruce for their hospitality, cuisine, and appreciation of their exquisite home.

I can't speak highly enough of our experience at Bloomsbury Inn. The innkeepers definitely went out of their way to make sure our experience was absolutely perfect! Everything from the greeting to the evening social to the phenominal one-of-a-kind breakfast and a personal farewell made us feel like we were clearly the most important guest they ever had. The home is absolutely beautiful and it was truly a pleasure to share in the history of such an architectural marvel. We'll definitely be back to Bloomsbury Inn and can't wait until our next stay!!!

We have been to Bloomsbury Inn several times and we absolutely love it! The home is immaculate and outstanding in every way. Breakfast and social hour meet our highest expectations and Bruce and Katherine are most gracious.

We went for a little Valentine's get-away and were completely spoiled! Lovely home, quiet and charming. The room was large and comfortable, the evening was pleasant and breakfast was delicious. We will be back!

We are in the process of relocating to Camden and decided to familiarize ourselves with our new community by staying in the center of the historic district. We chose the Bloomsbury Inn based on Tripadvisor reviews and are pleased to add to the long list of accolades for this wonderful property. The inn has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by the owners, Katherine and Bruce Brown. The furnishings are exquisite. The grounds are beautiful and the porch is graced by the sweet cat, Miss Kitty. Katherine and Bruce hold an evening social, serving hors d'oevres, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. The coffee service on the landing by the guest suites is a nice touch. The crowning glory was the remarkable gourmet breakfasts cooked and served by the hosts. Our fondest memories come from our conversations with Bruce and Katherine-- their wealth of knowlege regarding local history and the history of the home and its occupants added a wonderful rich layer to our experience. You won't be disappointed at the Bloomsbury Inn!

A fairy tale come true, when I am 90 on front porch reminiscing over my life I expect it to be in top 5 memories. It is perfect for men and women as it has history for men and ambience for women, the hosts are attentive to all your needs . They have thought of everything. Don't miss this! and the food is impeccable, especially breakfast!

Stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn while visitng my son at Camden Military Academy. What a delightful experience at the Inn and with the Innkeepers. Bruce and Katherine made us feel right at home. The inn is just so ripe with history and the grounds, even in winter, were beautiful. can't wait to return in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The Bloomsbury Inn and camden are a wonderful destintion.

Last night, a colleague stayed the night. It was a fantastic experience. The husband and wife are so very friendly and cordial. We had wine and some tasteful homemade snacks. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and large. For breakfast, she TOTALLY outdid herself. Katherine is an amazing chef.

We stayed at Bloomsbury Inn during the weekend of the Colonial Cup. The weekend was a a Birthday gift for my husband and we had another couple join us. The Brown's hospitality at Bloomsbury Inn made our weekend absolutely perfect. Ms. Katherine's breakfasts were scrumptous and amazing! The Inn is simply charming, no detail forgotten. It is immaculate, the rooms spacious, the warmth and friendliness of our hosts made our stay one that we will always remember. We had a wonderful weekend, thanks!

We stayed here for our anniversary and it was amazing from out beautiful antique room don't worry the mattress wasn't antique to the beautiful grounds and the breakfast was to die for! The service was great to owners were super friendly I would defiantly recommend Bloomsbury Inn to anyone

Recently visited in October 2012 and this was a destination event with several of the guests regular visitors and nearly as enjoyable as the hosts. Bruce and Katherine hold a social hour or two at 530 and provides a great chance to try some wine and get color on the local area. Camden is a beautiful town with an extraordinary collection of homes and plenty to do in the area. Local restaurants provide some great options for foodies ranging from the local bbq spot Hancocks to up-scale dining. Downtown is Camden is compact but fund with antique shops, cafes, and nice people. Bruce and Katherine are absolutely gracious and charming and the Bloomsbury Inn is stunningly preserved and fun to relax.

From the charm of the home to the excellent service provided by the hosts this has to be the best B&B at which I have ever stayed. The food is award winning. Bruce, Katherine and Miss Kitty pay attention to all of the details that make a guest fee welcome, pampered and "at home". Wine on the porch each afternoon is a wonderful way to wind down after a day of activities. There were also excellent suggestions for things to do, places to see and restaurants to try. I cannot over-recommend this B&B as a destination. It is a home away from home! I will definitely find a way to return. Michael Ash

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. What an amazing home, town, history, and innkeepers.!! Would recommend you to everyone!! My wife and I had an enjoyable stay at the Inn last week and thoroughly enjoyed what a B&B should really reflect in a a quick get-away or vacation. Bruce and Katherine are first rate hosts and do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The afternoon social was a in a true southern setting and was one of the highlights for us. The tour and history behind the inn was fascinating and a pleasure to experience. This was only our second visit, but it will not be our last one. Thank you.

This is my third visit to SC and each time I have stayed at the Bloomsbury. You will not find a better place to stay in that area and Katherine/Bruce make you feel at home.

How do you describe a truly wonderful, relaxing, and incredible weekend! When you drive up, it’s like stepping back into time! This magnificently restored home is beyond description. You can tell that the Innkeepers, Bruce and Katherine Brown, have put their heart and soul into creating a unique Bed and Breakfast with the warm hospitality and the charm of the South. The evening social on the “veranda” was perfect, especially listening to Innkeeper Bruce Brown talk about the history of the house, of Camden, and of the issues of that time. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, and spotless. And breakfast was a gourmet delight! Innkeeper Katherine Brown made an exquisite breakfast from many items gathered from local farmers or that she made from scratch…the old fashion way! We would highly recommend the Bloomsbury Bed and Breakfast experience to everyone! We definitely look forward to our next opportunity!

Brought the ashes of my mother to her final resting place outside of Camden and stayed at Bloomsbury Inn for the weekend. Wonderful accomodations and Bruce and Katherine could not have made us feel more welcome, even inviting our daughter to join us for breakfast each morning; she was staying at another hotel. The reviews are spot on! I had no idea where to stay in Camden and fortunately found Bloomsbury. This is a gorgeous home with superb hosts. My only regret is that I could not stay longer than one night, I would have loved to have more conversations regarding the history of the locale and the fascinating lives of the hosts. If I am ever in the area again I will be staying at Bloomsbury Inn!

My husband and I stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn last month and had an absolutely delightful stay! Our host and hostess made us feel right at home as did their darling porch kitty, Miss Kitty Stray (just one of the many photo-ops at the home!) Breakfasts were scrumptious and enormous. Since breakfast is our favorite meal, we could not have been happier. The wine and cheese hour was so welcoming, and we felt like we were not guests but part of the family. The tour of the house and the history was absolutely fascinating. Bruce had so many details about it that you felt like you had been in the house during its amazing history. The yard is so lovely, and the house is beautifully appointed. Chocolate chip cookies and a chocolates on our pillows were perfect finishing touches. Heartily recommend this Inn.

I stayed at the Inn in July 2012 for one night and had an early morning start the following day so missed the normal breakfast and house tour. I was delighted with my stay and will return on my next trip to this region. The room was lovely, well appointed and the bed comfortable and great for a restful night sleep. I made use of the available wi-fi and enjoyed greatly the evening meet and greet with the hosts and my fellow guests. What a delightful couple they are - well educated, well traveled and well suited to welcoming travelers from far and wide. Having to leave before 7am, I was met with a wonderful to-go breakfast and coffee as well as a goodie bag to sustain me through the day. The extra mile! I also enjoyed the company of the cat on the porch - a delightful feature!

We had such a wonderful experience that it seems folly to use words to describe our stay. We enjoyed stunningly interesting conversation, we delighted in beautiful and delicious breakfasts, we were treated thoughtfully and kindly, and the home and room in which we stayed was lovely beyond compare. There aren't enough stars!!

My wife and I received a 3 night romantic stay at Bloomsbury for our 30 th anniversary. I was skeptical about entering and staying in someone elses home, but upon our arrival at Bloomsbury we were kindly greeted by Bruce who helped us with luggage and escorted us to our room. And yes the breakfasts that are prepared by Bruce and Katherine are over the top. Bruce and Katherine are two of the kindest warm hearted people that I have ever met they made us feel as they had known us for years. We stayed 2 nights in June - 1st time in Camden which is steeped in history... Bloomsbury Inn was a welcome haven of tranquility, comfort and relaxation - from the time Bruce met us and helped with our bags, to the aperitif offered to help us relax, to the huge comfy bed, to the sumptuous breakfasts - we felt thoroughly looked after and welcome in this beautiful home. This was a spur of the moment trip to visit my uncle and I am now so thankful that there was room at the Bloomsbury Inn for me. While I was the only person occupying the room, Bruce and Katherine graciously allowed my uncle to attend the 'social time' with me as well as joining me for breakfast the following morning. The breakfast was fresh, wonderful and more than plentiful. If you walked away hungry, it was your own fault. I stayed in the Sally Chestnut room and loved it. It was very large and comfortable in every way. I must note that I only rated a 3 star for cleanliness because it met my expectations for clean. The entire Inn was very clean, but that's what I expect at any establishment I choose to stay. So, I'm not sure what would cause me to rate any place higher than that and that's a good thing. Because there are clear reasons why I would rate something 'okay' or 'unsatisfactory' and this Inn is better than that. Every room was tidy and I didn't notice any dirt or dust at all. I'm planning to go back to Camden in a couple of months with my husband and will definitely want to stay at the Bloomsbury Inn!

Traveling from the northeast to the southeast is a change not just in weather but in culture. Bloomsbury Inn offers the best in southern hospitality. Gracious hosts open their beautifully restored home to those of us who are in need of peace and quiet. The outside surroundings invite you to sit and rock on the porch or find a quiet seat in a flowering garden. Katherine's expert hands produce a delicious gourmet breakfast while Bruce shares historical details of the house and the Camden area, including delicious restaurant options. Five o'clock beckons guests and innkeepers to come together for interesting conversation along with fine wine, cheese and crackers. Each guest room is lovingly detailed and very comfortable. We also enjoyed delicate port provided in the privacy of each room. The bathrooms are Italian tile original to early 20th century representing the colors popular at the time and including fine bathroom essentials. Actually, we even love the beautiful Deneen Pottery mugs, which can be purchased to remind one of the lovely memories of an Inn stay of the highest quality. My husband and I went to Bloomsbury Inn for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Bruce and Katherine have done an outstanding job with the house. The breakfast was great, and the hospitality was superb. We enjoyed our stay at this bed & breakfast better than any other. We plan to go back.

Our recent stay in Bloomsbury Inn was the ultimate B&B experience! From the warm welcome on the front veranda to the fond farewell in the grand hallway....the experience was devine and left us wanting more!! We arrived in time for the evening social, where we enjoyed lively conversation with the Browns and the other guests. The entire home is beautifully decorated and lovingly prepared with the guests' comfort in mind.. The chocolates on the pillows were an added treat, and the linens were devine!! The gourmet breakfast was delicious down to the last drop of their wonderfully blended coffee which was enjoyed while Bruce gave a well researched history of the home and its owners . The Camden area is entrenched with Civil War history which made Bruce's talk even more interesting!!! Before our departures, we all enjoyed the top to bottom tour of the home followed by a stroll through the beautiful gardens. This is when we saw the original kitchen house and carriage house., both restored to their original state. The innkeepers have thought of everything to make their guests' stay more enjoyable! We applaud Katherine and Bruce's hard work at making their dream of owning a B&B a reality, and we're very happy to have enjoyed a short visit with them

My cousin and I went on a girl's getaway for the weekend and stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn. I was relaxed, refreshed, and felt like a queen. Bruce and Katherine were exceptional host/hostess, they made our stay there comfortable, welcoming and I didn't want to leave. The inn is clean, organized, and well taken care of. The food is amazing and I truly enjoyed the evening social hour on the front porch getting to know one another. I will be be back to the Bloomsbury Inn in the future.

We have stayed in B & B's all over the U.S. and can honestly say we have not found a nicer one than the Bloomsbury Inn. Not only was the home beautiful and impeccably decorated, but Bruce and Katherine went above and beyond the expected. They were so helpful from the moment we drove into the drive and Katherine greeted us on the porch, to our last goodbye after Bruce gave us a tour of the house. We salute you "Colonels Brown." Our neighbours recommended Bloomsbury to us. It's not far from Charlotte NC where we live. We were only there one night, unfortunately, but it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Mary Chestnut room which was truly beautiful. The whole Bloomsbury property was gorgeous! Loved the social hour, the breakfast was to die for, the commentary about the House and Civil War over breakfast was very informative and the tour of the house and garden was fantastic. It was not a night at a Bed and Breakfast - it was a Wonderful Experience!

Bloomsbury Inn is definitely the "cream of the crop". The inn is beautiful, the hosts gracious, and the breakfast delicious. The tour of the home and gounds was very interesting and a wonderful review of southern history. Bruce and Katherine have done everything in their power to make a visit to Bloomsberry feel like you are "coming home".

We stayed at Bloomsbury this past weekend while taking in the NASCAR race in Darlington. WOW what a nice get away. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere, great host and hostess, knowledgeable about the history of the plantation house (even gave us a history tour), really made us feel at home. Katherine and Bruce really have it going on, if you know what I mean!!!! OMG, almost forgot the best part, the gourmet breakfast. Outstanding! Thank you Katherine and Bruce for a wonderful weekend. And now I know what a jib door is!!

Our visit to Camden was wonderful in large part to the exceptional hospitality, comfort, and charm of Bloomsbury. The Browns quickly made us feel comfortable, our room was quiet, huge and comfortable, filled with antiques. Wine and a wonderful breakfast were outstanding. We would drive to Camden just to visit Bloomsbury.

The best Bed & Breakfast have ever stayed. The couple who own it are friendly, helpful, and great host and hostess. I only wish I could visit monthly and it like a weekend in paradise.

A lovely and relaxing B&B in a historic 1849 Plantation home. Very friendly innkeepers, Kathleen and Bruce Brown, both retired USAF officers. Four lovely guest rooms on the 2nd floor, each with a full private bath. Lovely common rooms and expansive front porch for relaxing. Tasty breakfasts according to my wife. (I had to leave early each day and missed breakfast, but Kathleen packed me a to go lunch as a convenience.) Innkeeper Bruce Brown provided an interesting history of Bloomsbury, the family who built it and the families who have lived there. He also led us on a basement to attic tour of the home, the original separate kitchen building, and the shaded grounds - over 400 azaleas, roses, live oaks, and Spanish moss. Interesting history in and around Camden. Highly recommended.

Bloomsbury is everything the website says and more. Katherine and Bruce are the perfect hosts, and make every guest feel as welcome as special friends. Their home is beautiful and well taken care of, the food is always fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared and presented, and we love the afternoon socials on the porch (and Bruce's stories!).

Bloomsbury Inn cannot be beaten for the Inn itself, the town of Camden, and the marvelous hosts Bruce and Katherine. We have been there 3 times for one week stays, and Bloomsbury feels like our own Southern Family and home. Love it!!!

This was our second time to stay at Bloomsbury. Bruce and Katherine are wonderful hosts and their home is absolutely beautiful. A perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or have a romantic getaway!

Definitely the best B&B experience we've ever had. You turn in the driveway and enter another era. You can just feel the history as soon as you set foot in the door. Although it is a grand historic home, it has been so cleverly modernized we never once got the feeling we were trading off modern conveniences for the privilege of staying in an old home. The hosts are wonderful. Not a detail is left out, neither in service, food, nor or comfort. They make you feel as if it is your home, too. Their full tour of the house & retelling of it's history is worth staying there all by itself. The restaurants our hosts recommended were all top notch, and we marveled at how reasonable Camden's dining are cost-wise. We are probably jaded as to the quaintness of the town itself, since we already live in a history & horses small S.C. town. The town did not thrill us as much as we'd have liked. The site of the Revolutionary War battle of Camden is a disappointing, and while Historic Camden, a restoration village on the site of the original settlement tries hard to please, it is very minimal. However, Camden itself is so close to Columbia that we could see staying there without feeling as if we are marooned. We definitely plan to return to Bloomsbury for an overnight or weekend getaway. The Inn itself is the lure. You cannot do better!

Reception at 5:30 - 6:30 not to be missed. Bruce and Katherine wonderful and gracious hosts. Generals Room warm and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and the best presentation I believe I have ever experienced; both food and Bruce's resitation of the house and family history!

The Bloomsbury Inn is a spectacular Bed and Breakfast. Bruce and Katherine are the perfect hosts. The inn was very beautiful. The room was comfortable and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was delicious and served with flair. We enjoyed our stay and would return in the future.

I recommend this inn highly - Bruce and Katherine do a wonderful job to ensure their guests have a great experience. I was recently in Camden for a seminar and it was nice to come back to the inn and be able to relax like I was at home. The food was incredible. I wish I had more time to take in the sites of the town that has much to offer!

Bruce and Katherine were fantastic! Their home is wonderful, but I expected that. What I didn't expect was the cooking. I've stayed at the four seasons and other 5 star hotels, but you will not eat as good as you do at Bloomsbury. The food was all organic, fresh, and homemade. I was blown away. Bloomsbury is a gorgeously restored and meticulously maintained B&B where you will instantly feel a part of Bruce and Katherine's family. Katherine is a five-star chef, and her breakfasts top most of the luxury hotels we have stayed in - both in terms of deliciousness and creativity. Bruce's stories make you feel as if you are living the history of this spectacular home. But it is the attention to detail that really makes Bloomsbury memorable: spotless rooms with their own climate controls (highly unusual for a B&B), power strips in every room, lovely décor throughout the house with Bruce and Katherine’s tasteful collections on display, beautiful dining room table place settings for breakfast, wine and hors d’ouevres (different every day) in the afternoon on the porch, pitch-perfect landscaping, knowledge of all things South Carolina (including great Charleston tips) and fascinating conversations with two people who define gracious southern hospitality.

What a wonderful atmosphere the Browns have created at Bloomsbury. Southern hospitality with over the top service and dining. If anyone is planning a trip to or near Camden, a stay at Bloomsbury is a must.

Bruce and Katherine made my business visit extremely enjoyable. From the welcome and wealth of information about the area to the cocktail hour and thoughtful additions of nightly treats in the room, it made you look forward to returning every evening. We always stay in Select Registry Inns and they have always met or exceeded our expecations. We feel that this Inn was a great value for all the amenities and personal care given by the inkeepers (Bruce and Katherine) who reside there. Their historical knowledge of the Bloomsbury Mansion will walk you through time and leave you wanting to know more of the stories which Bruce can provide. Sit on the porch of an evening, close your eyes and you can almost hear the creak of harness and saddle leather with the occasional saber rattle. Enjoy

Finding this jewel of southern charm and hospitality was indeed our good fortune! Katherine and Bruce are the consumate hosts attending to each and every detail of our stay. I joked with Bruce about rose petals on our bed and after dinner, voila, rose petals! My husband and I visited Bloomsbury Inn last weekend and we had an unforgettable stay. We have stayed at many B&B's and Bruce and Katherine are the most hospitable hosts we have ever encountered. From the scrumptious breakfasts to the wonderful conversations, our stay could not have been better. They go above and beyond and make their guests feel at home. We were originally drawn to the Inn because of it's historical ties to Mary Chestnut (famous Civil War diarist). I was absolutely thrilled to learn that we stayed in the very room they believe was hers. It does not get much better than that! Bruce took the time to take us on a house tour, which was very interesting, and much appreciated. The Inn was immaculate, beautiful, romantic, and overflowing with charm. We plan to return as soon as we can. We feel as though we now have friends in Camden, South Carolina.

Fabulously renovated historic southern plantation! Innkeepers are retired military colonels. They are very warm and social and are very educated in the history of this home and all its past owners. The complete home tour is fasinating all by itself. Breakfast was delightful! Home-made biscuts and fig jam are to died for. Large rooms (ours was 20x20) all with private baths. Bed was very comfortable and the place comes with all the extra & amenities you can think of. We highly recommend if your in the Columbia, SC area or on your way to Charleston for a getaway you need to stop and enjoy. Miss Kitty will greet you at the door. She's a stray that's never left...she knows a great place when she finds it. You will too, enjoy!

What a wonderful experience! The home of Bruce and katherine is beautiful and the landscaping certainly is inviting as you circle through the azaleas and step back into time. After a long two day drive from Texas we had the opportunity to unwind at Bloomsbury. The evening social was a great time to visit with our hosts and the other guests. The accommodations were pleasant and the morning breakfast followed by a tour of the grounds with our host Bruce were very enjoyable. An exceptional B&B. I had lived in Camden during my High School years and knew the house as an unkept, overgrown old house back in the 70's. It is amazing what the innkeepers have done to the home. My stay was very short but very enjoyable. My room was welcoming and comfortable. The gourmet breakfast was excellent. My only reqret is that I did not have time in my stay to sit on their huge front porch in one of the rocking chairs to enjoy the peace and quiet.

From the moment of arrival when Bruce assisted with carrying the luggage up to our room to the 5:30pm social hour with wine, cheese, and assorted crackers and cold cuts, it was easy to relax and enjoy the conversation about Camden history and the fascinating restoration of this beautiful home. The delightful breakfast included a fresh fruit parfait, baked biscuits, and assorted "surprise" dishes from a cheese/mushroom quiche and other flavorful fare. Bruce assisted with booking reservations at local eateries on a nearby lake and in Camden town. Rooms had climate control and the bedding was comfortable. A decanter of port with glasses was on a nightstand. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the history lessons about the home (and an optional post-breakfast tour by Bruce) and the local attractions and historical Revolutionary War sites. We highly recommend this delightful Inn and its gracious innkeepers.

Although we only stayed one night at Bloomsbury, we left wishing we had more time to stay longer. Bruce and Katherine were most welcoming and their home, very comfortable, beautiful to look at with history and curios at every turn. Bruce was most interesting with a keen knowledge about the home, Camden and South Carolina in general. Katherine spoilt us with the most delicious breakfast - one I don't think could be topped. We would definately go back and recommend Bloomsbury to anyone heading to the Camden area.

This property is so much more than your typical B&B. Consider Bloommsbury as an historical field trip. The house has been lovingly and impeccably restored to near mint condition and the property is very representative of southern antebellum architecture and charm. But as they say - "the devil is in the details" and the inkeepers, Bruce and Katherine Brown, make Bloomsbury come alive with their stories of the property's rich history. Most B&B's give you a comfortable stay in a pleasant environment, but Bloomsbury gives you something else if you're a history lover. I left feeling enriched and connected to the house as well as Camden. Be sure you allow ample time for Bruce's "tour". It's well worth it!

What a wonderful, beautiful, jewel in the inland of South Carolina. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights celebrating our anniversay and we had such a remarkable time. From the quaint town to the grandeur of Bloombury everything was perfect. We relaxed, read, fed our souls and had such a great time celebrating life together and with the innkeepers Bruce and Katherine. We loved our stay at Bloomsbury Inn. What made this B&B different from other B&B's was getting a tour of the home/grounds and learning its fascinating history. I really enjoyed the canteloupe soup for breakfast along with the strawberry french toast. Nice touches in the room was piano music (cd), candy, cookies, Civil War books, white plush robes, small flat screen TV and bottled water. Katherine and Bruce are wonderful hosts!

My wife were traveling home to NC from Houston where we learned that her cancer had returned; both were in a deep, deep funk! We met our sons and their wives in Camden to go to the NASCAR race at Darlington the next day. After 10 days of testing and bad news and nearly 2500 miles of car travel, Bloomsbury provided a welcome and much needed respite. Upon arrival, we found the grounds to be pristine; inviting weary travelers to step down and come on in for a visit. A quick tour proved that the grounds were only the finery on the package; our accomodations were right out of the days of the pre-War of Northern Agression era. We felt like we had been transported back in time from the reality we had faced over the past 10 days to a more gentile day and time. Our hosts, Bruce and Katherine, were warm and friendly--remeniscient of the old South. Bruce filled us with stories of Bloomsbury and the families that had owned it, making the home literally come alive in our minds' eyes while Katherine prepared a breakfast and provided snacks on the veranda that were fit for kings and queens. Our children gifted us with bed & breakfast.com gift cards for our 40th wedding anniversary. This gave us the opportunity to seek out a B & B not far from home since we only had 2 days to be away. My husband & I had the best time at Bloomsbury Inn, starting with Bruce greeting us in the driveway & helping us with our luggage. The social hour was a great time of interacting with other guests & friends of the Browns. We have a great appreciation of our military and this interested me in choosing Bloomsbury Inn since this is Bruce & Katherine's background. Katherine & Bruce treat their guests royally! 150 years of history, but with 2011 service -- enjoy a relaxing visit.

We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn in mid-April 2011. The place is incredible. The 1850s mansion has been immaculately restored and is filled with interesting antiques and other unique things the owners acquired from around the world during their time in the military. The sleeping rooms are very large and comfortable (ours was the largest at 20 x 20 feet), and all have 13 foot ceilings, private baths, antique furniture, individual temperature controls, and year-round fireplaces. Breakfasts were fantastic gormet affairs served by the owners in a nice dining room with white linens and fine china and silver. And every afternoon was a social hour hosted by the owners that included wine, cheeses, spreads and assorted crackers served on a beautiful wrap-around porch overlooking the gardens. The owners were very gracious and took considerable time to interact with guests, offer dining and sight-seeing tips, and explain the history of the property and the surrounding area. Considering everything you get and all the history and ambiance of the place, the Bloomsbury Inn is a steal. If you go, don't forget to check out the famous Pearl Fryar Topiary Gardens just 20 minutes away, as well as some the very best steaks in the entire state served at the Mill Pond Restaurant, also about a 20 minute drive from the B&B.

Bruce and Katherine are the perfect hosts. The menu is constantly changing and creative, and they are the type of folks that you look forward to spending time with. Never intrusive, but always there to serve any need that arises.

Bruce and Katherine go way beyond run-of-the-mill hosts with everything they do, and always with a gracious smile. Even when surrounded by storm damage cleanup they cheerfully provided a wonderful weekend for our friends and us. The place is beautiful and very well kept, breakfasts are delicious and beautifully presented, and the afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres on the veranda with Miss Kitty are perfect. We'll be back next year and as long as we can make the trip!

The sterling reviews of Bloomsbury are an accurate reflection of the experience we had there. We stayed because of the proximity to the Carolina Cup Steeplechase, but this place is a destination in itself. Immaculate setting, beautiful grounds and innkeepers in Bruce and Katherine who are textbook definitions of gracious hosts. True gourmet breakfasts and an evening social hour that makes going out to dinner afterward seem superfluous. We have stayed at hundreds of outstanding B&Bs all over the world, and this one ranks well into the upper echelon. We recommend it with complete assurance that you will love the experience.

From the moment we arrived to the time we had to say goodbye, Bruce and Katherine have thought of everything. I have stayed at many places all over the world and this is my most favorite by far. Camden is a wonderful southern town and it's townspeople are enjoyable, welcoming and cultured. A trip to Bloomsbury should be on everyone's destination location. My wife and I have stayed here many times and this is a place we will continue to come for many years to come. The rates are incredible because the service, amenities and property should be many times what they are charging. This is a world class property.

We were on our way back to Pinehurst NC from The Masters tournament in Augusta, GA, and decided to stay over in Camden. What a surprise awaited us at the Bloomsbury. I just stood there with my mouth open, in awe at the beautifully restored Southern plantation home. And to top it off, Katherine and Bruce greeted and took care of us as if we were long lost family! What a treat!

The Bloomsbury Inn is a wonderful B&B; truly elegant and gracious. We can't remember ever staying in a better one, and we've stayed in many all over the world. It's as good as they say it is in every respect.

Came up to Camden for the night for a wedding and just stumbled upon the Bloomsbury's website the day before. Was lucky to get the best room in the house with less than 24hrs notice. When we arrived, Mr. Brown came out to our car and greeted us and helped with the bags. He was a charming and humorous host throughout our stay. The Inn was simply lovely in every respect and at an unbelievable value. Having recently stayed in some boutique hotels in NYC, the room at Bloomsbury and service we received could have easily cost ten times what we paid if it had been in a city. The Browns host their guest on the porch for an evening social which we were very disappointed to miss due to our previous plans. The porch was great and one could easily spend hours relaxing out there. The breakfast was top notch and Mr. Brown lead a basement to attic tour of the house and grounds explaining the history and their efforts at restoration. It was a real treat. If I ever found myself traveling through Camden again, I wouldnt hesitate to spend another night at the Bloomsbury.

Gracious hospitality and worldly experiences are the innkeepers’ forté. We immediately felt at home upon arrival and enjoyed talking to the innkeepers about their military careers, learning about the house’s interesting history and how they acquired it, over a glass of wine. Snacks, coffee and tea were available outside out room which was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed. The gourmet quality breakfast was filling and accompanied by a nice hot applesauce soup. We needed a place to stay outside of Columbia SC and Camden was a nice place to stop for the night. We would go back and also recommend it to others.

The rave reviews given to the Bloomsbury Inn that I read before going there were all perfectly true. All of our high expectations were met and exceeded. The rooms, food and hospitality were outstanding! Many surprising extras only added to our comfort. Would recommend to anyone.

The Bloomsbury and the Browns were a delightful interlude in our busy lives. We very much enjoyed the hospitality, the grounds and scrumptious breakfast. We will hope to return in the near future.

Where to begin? More than we ever expected..........the genuine hospitality offered by Katherine and Bruce is enough to make the stay worth it. Stories of their amazing careers (and you must press them for it because they are humble to the core) alone could keep you on their front porch sipping wine and munching on goodies for hours on end. They made reservations for us at a nearby restaurant that undoubtedly had the most fabulous cobbler that I have ever tasted. From the start, Bruce's storytelling ability entices you with the informational tour of the house that he gives after Katherine has presented you with one of the most scrumptous breakfasts ever. Word to the wise: do not skip the tour. All in all, gorgeous home, amazing hosts and that to-die for breakfast will keep me looking forward to my return. Do not look any further...you have found your bed and breakfast.

We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn recently and enjoyed it immensely. We typically do not stay in B&Bs due to some experiences from years ago but there was not a hotel in Camden and we read the excellent reviews of this one. We were not disappointed! Everything about this place adds up to a very restful and extremely educational experience. The room had every amenity to suit our needs and was quite spacious. The bed was comfortable and we did not hear a peep from anywhere else in the house during the night. We even had our own thermostat to set at our desired temperature. The mansion is chockful of history and impeccably maintained. The grounds are beautiful, even in the winter months. We were served wine and delicious light fare the evening we arrived and the breakfast was more than satisfying. Our hosts, Bruce and Catherine, could not have been more gracious and were willing to accommodate any special dietary requests. They are a very interesting couple with extraordinary life experiences, yet very down-to-earth. They made us feel right at home. We sincerely hope that we will be able to return for another visit in the near future!

My husband surprised me with a night at the lovely Bloomsbury Inn for my birthday during the holidays. It was a peaceful getaway for both of us. There were plenty of modern amenities in this historic home. Our stay was as comfortable as being at home with every convenience necessary, but better because we were transported to another place and time. Bruce & Katherine are gracious hosts with lots of stories to share from their service in the Air Force and in academics. Katherine is superb cook! I felt like a princess at breakfast as she served several courses of southern cuisine. There wasn't a detail that wasn't addressed. The house was beautiful at Christmastime. Camden also had several great restaurants to choose from for dinner plans. We have plans to go back...and soon!

We made a last-minute call in hopes of reserving a room that night due to impending bad weather for our drive home. When told we were meeting friends for dinner, Katharine warmly encouraged us to invite our friends to join us for a cocktail at the inn. From that gracious offer things only were better and better: the website did not do justice to the lovely garden bed chamber we enjoyed, a coffee bar upstairs to jumpstart the morning, a special breakfast including fluffy biscuits and apple soup before the entree, and then a history, architecture, and travel filled tour of the house and grounds with Bruce. The camellia sasanquas in November almost rival the azaleas of spring. Well worth a visit any time of year! The only way to improve your visit is to stay longer!

I stayed at Bloomsbury Inn one night during a 10-city booksigning tour, and it was a peaceful and delightful respite. Bruce and Katherine were warm and welcoming, with wine and cheese on the wide front porch the highlight of the evening. Our stay at the Bloomsbury Inn made the perfect ending to our Southern vacation. Our hosts, Bruce and Katherine, were wonderful guides who escorted us back in time to the mid 1800s and brought alive the lifestyle of the antebellum mansion. An unforgettable experience.

We met Katherine and Bruce in a B&B in St Augustine in January and thought what nice people they were and that they had a B&B but couldn't quite remember where and while perusing the member directory of South Carolina B&B association the proverbial lightbulb came on and voila there was the name of the Bloomsbury Inn in Camden S.C.!!!!!! I called for a reservation and my husband and I were very pleased to see them again and to stay in their beautifully appointed home where we enjoyed warmth and serenity and a scrumptuous breakfast the next morning to send us on our way back to Florida. I would recommend their home among one of the most comfortable we have visited and am looking forward to a return.

We have stayed in many B & B's across the country and this was one of the top ones. Bruce was a great host and shared a lot of information about the inn's history on out guided tour. The rooms were comfortable and not stuffy, and the porch is to die for when relaxing after a long day on the road. Breakfast by Katherine was delicious. We will surely be back when we are in that area. All in all one of the largest and best B & B's we have stayed at yet.

Wow what an experience. Bruce and Katherine run their bed and breakfast with military precision. I have never enjoyed a stay more. I warn you not to be late for breakfast as you won't want to miss a thing. I would have to rate our experience a 10plus. If you are in the Camden area it is something you can not miss.

I am in the Air Force and currently separated from my family. My wife and I missed our 15th wedding anniversary, so I decided to bring her to Bloomsbury. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Bruce and saw the other guests relaxing on the huge front patio. Our room was amazing with so much character and all this neat stuff - even the stuff had stuff inside! The social hour was nice with wine and appetizers. The best part was the breakfast the next morning! Katherine served the ladies first and then us guys. Tea, Coffee, juice kept coming. Very creative serving of apples, homeade sausage, and baked french toast. As we ate, Bruce gave us a vivid story of the house and the history of the owners from the Civil War to now. Then we toured the estate and saw how much renovation was done to restore the home to what it used to be. Overall, a great time and my wife was all smiles!

The Bloomsbury Inn is a fantastic place for a weekend escape! We went there for the 14th annual Camden,SC , bluesfestival and actually spent most of the time attending the music in downtown, exactly one mile from the Inn. The public areas in the Inn are very nicely furnished and the wide wrap-around porch has plenty comfortable rocking chairs. Bedroom had a comfortable bed, individual temperature control, private bath with nice amenities,good shower (plenty hot water) Bathrobes and slippers were provided, nice Turkish cotton towels. Could not get the TV to display captions,perhaps the wrong remote. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, more than we could eat. Afternoon tea was served with fine red and white wine and delicious hors d' ouevres. The Innkeepers were knowledgeable about the area,the Inn's history, restaurants and other attractions. An informative tour of the property was offered at the end of our stay. We will be back! inn

This is my second stay at Bloomsbury and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The house evokes the loving care Bruce and Katharine put in to renovations and continue daily. Upon entering you feel yourself start to unwind and slow down. The rooms are the most comfortable, the breakfast over the top, but I think it is the atmosphere that makes the stay so enjoyable. You won't find anyone more gracious than these inkeepers. Bloomsbury is truly a beautiful southern lady and something to behold. Cheryl

Bloomsbury definitely gets 5 stars!!! The house and grounds are beautiful. Our room was very comfortable & the decor was incredible. The house is filled with treasures from around the world. The inn keepers are very personable & it is obvious that they love their work. The afternoon wine & cheese social on the veranda was such fun. We meet the other house guests & some friends & neighbors of Bloomsbury. As Bruce told the history of Bloomsbury & gave the tour of the house you could almost invision yourself being a part of it.. Last but not least ,the gourmet breakfast was excellent ! Yes , it was a great weekend!!! Check it out. You can't be disapointed.

We spent two delightful days in this historic house with the most charming and informative hosts, Katherine and Bruce. The rooms are large and comfortable and the furnishings reflect the owners great taste and long period of collecting. Breakfast was amazing. Wine and canapes on the balcony each evening together with the stimulating conversation with Katherine and Bruce was a perfect way to round out the day in beautiful Camden.

We just got home from our stay at the Bloomsbury Inn and we can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. First and foremost, the inn keepers, Bruce and Katherine were so lovely and such interesting people. They made us feel so at home the moment we drove into their driveway. "Home, is where the heart is." Bruce and Katherine Brown opened their home, which is an historic piece of South Carolina, as well as U.S. History, and have made this Antebellum retreat a joyful experience.This was my first B&B experience. Every comfort, without being intrusive, meals that one would hope to find at the finest restaurants and social graces with humor to boot. The Brown's truly have not only a wonderful business in Bloomsbury Inn, but this is because they understand something very important, that service and comfort are for the greater good of those whom you serve, the customer. Our weekend stay was absolutely over and above my expectations. The food was delicious. Katherine shared her special tips on preparing the chocolate gravy that was served so I could prepare it for my family. Every room passed the white glove inspection. It was warm and welcoming in every aspect. The Inn Keepers took time to meet our every reguest. I really enjoyed just sitting in the parlor sharing and listening to stories of Bruce and Katherines adventures from around the world. They are very knowledgable on the history of Bloomsbury and shared that after breakfast as we toured their home from top to bottom. I recommend this inn to anyone, especially if you need a nice quiet place to just relax and feel at home.

We love staying at bed and breakfast inns. This inn was the best we have seen in restoring it back to the period it was built. The innkeepers were very knowledgeable in the history of the inn. The breakfast meal was excellent. The grounds were beautiful.

The Bloomsbury Inn is best B&B we have ever experienced from throughout the US. The historic home is restored to better than new condition, the Innkeepers are professional and interesting to talk with, the grounds are beautiful, and the location is perfect. Bruce's history lesson was an added plus and Katherine's cooking is first rate.

We were looking for a one night stay for our anniversary...and the Bloomsbury was AMAZING. Our hosts were gracious, the accommodations were spectacular, and they even added special touches, such as rose petals on our bed. We will surely return!

We stayed at The Bloomsbury Inn for two nights while exploring the area for schools for our son and a possible move. Bruce and Katherine could not have been more gracious or helpful, right down to a "old home" remedy for a wasp string! The rooms, the decor, the meals, the conversation, the information, every little tiny details was delightful! We'll be back!

I have stayed in many B&Bs and have to say that Bloomsbury Inn is the VERY BEST thus far! Bruce and Katherine made us feel very welcomed and we were treated like royalty! I highly recommend visiting this beautiful home!

I've been to many B&B's throughout the East and this one by far is the best of the best. The home is beautifully decorated, very clean, and Katherine is a wonderful cook. IF I am in the area again, I will without a doubt stay there again.

Over the past several decades, we have stayed in many dozens of B&Bs. For a few years, I even contemplated acquiring one and becoming an innkeeper. However, after staying at this establishment, there is no way that one could ever hope to compete, or even to come close. Everything was perfect, your needs are anticipated, and the hospitality of the innkeepers cannot be surpassed. I'm not aware of any major tourist draw to Camden, but any trip there just to stay at the Bloomsbury Inn will be a great trip. George and Marjorie
