I took my two small dogs with me to the Lazy L and stayed 3 nights. They have a large fenced in dog run area - all of the grounds are nicely planted. Many different spots on their property to hang out, plus a small swimming pool. Staff are very helpful and friendly, the breakfast is great. You can leave your dog in your room unattended for up to 3 hours, unless s/he makes a lot of noise - they will call your cell phone. Lewes has many restaurants with patios that let you bring your dogs to dinner as well. I highly recommend it and will return next summer.

Great opportunity to travel with our dogs. The rooms were well appointed and so clean. It was hard to believe that it was actually a dog friendly B&B. I was amazed at how clean it was. The gardens were coming along nicely. We were glad that we took the cabin room, off-site, as it would have been quite noisy in the house with all the rooms full of pets...who could be a bit unrully. Our dogs were quite comfortable in the cabin; and enjoyed the large run area. Our favorite part of our stay included kayaking directly from the B&B on Willow Creek-a little costly; but how convenient. We were hoping to use the hot-tub; but it was not available. The free ice-cream also was not available. There is a beautiful outdoor fireplace, over-looking the creek, which would have been perfect for our late-April trip, but we just were not sure if we were allowed to use it or not. Otherwise, we had a really, really good time; and would definitely return.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Lazy L in August 2009, along with our 10-year-old Lab and our 3-year-old hound mix. What a great find! We stayed at the cottage on the dog run and thoroughly enjoyed it. The dog run is huge, with a screened gazebo and plenty of chairs for humans. The cottage itself has its own fence, so you can let your dogs out the front door without immediately letting them into the run (this also keeps other dogs from coming right up to your door). It's a small efficiency cottage with room for one large dog crate. Everything was immaculate -- a rarity in dog-friendly accomodations -- and the dog sheet to cover the bed was a nice touch. Innkeepers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their list of dog-friendly restaurants helped us find some great places. Breakfast was out of this world -- 2 courses -- and could be tailored to your dietary needs with advance notice. The grounds are spacious and allow you to have some privacy despite the number of people staying there -- there is always a quiet water view to be found. The property is quite secluded, but still a short drive to the beaches and into town. Great escape if you are looking for R&R nearby a quaint seaside town.

We recently returned from a winter weekend getaway trip to the Lazy L with 3 of our 5 retrievers (they have a 3 dog limit). We all had a very enjoyable time. We stayed in the very quiet, superbly clean, Flamingo room on the first level. It has a small, but adequate bathroom with a shower and a super comfy bed!!! There was also a fridge and a small sitting area in the room. Doggy linens (sheets/towels) are provided to help keep the furnishings clean and in good condition. We particularly enjoyed the large living area off of our room (shared with the room across from us) and were happy to have a doggy neighbor to play with. There was also an exercise area on our level, as well as a pool table, games, movies, kitchenette with dishes, and fireplaces. We didn't really need to bring anything but our clothes and personal items. They even had dog bowls! The entrance is easily accessible for anyone who has difficulty with stairs as the landscaping provides for easy access to a patio which leads to the water, yard, pool, hot tub, parking area and dog run. Despite being on the first floor, we still had a nice view of the water. I enjoyed walking the dogs around the property while my hubby stretched out on the couch and watched some tv. The dogs loved the dog run and all the treats at breakfast. It was so nice to be able to bring them with us everywhere we went...at the B & B and away. Besides a few stores in the town of Lewes, we were able to keep them with us the entire time, even for a meal at Cafe Azafran. There isn't enough room to write all that I want to say, but we highly recommend the Lazy L and hope to return in the future.

We knew as soon as we pulled in the curcular drive that we were in for a treat -- we drove through a lavishly planted lane. We were greeted and treated -- Sadie our rottweiler got kisses and treats. There is a landscaped secure dog run. Food & service excellent.

The Lazy L is a perfect getaway for people that don't want to leave their pets at home. Everyone was very friendly and made you and your pet feel comfortable. With the pool, hot tub, pool table and out door seating areas you didn't need (or want) to leave the Resort. We particularly enjoyed the free ice cream!

The people who worked at the Lazy L were very friendly and attentive. As soon as you arrive, they give you a tour of the house and a list of activities and restaurants in the area. The rooms were very nice, clean and larger than most B&Bs we stayed at. Dogs have full run of the house, which was nice because there are a couple of common areas that you can watch TV or play games if you didn't want to sit in your room. They also allowed you to keep your dog in your room while you were out as long as they didn't bother the other guests. The breakfasts were very good. They usually started with juice, fresh fruit and freshly baked muffins that were outstanding. Then you would get a hot pancakes, waffles or eggs. In fact, I could never finish everything they served us. Outside they had a large fenced-in dog run, which was one of the selling points that attracted me to this place. The pool area was nice, it had lounge chairs, umbrellas, a stereo and a BBQ. It was also fenced in, so you could bring your dog into the area (but they are not allowed in the pool itself). There were plenty of local parks and beaches that could take your dog. They also have dog friendly towns and restaurants. The only negative thing I could say about this location is the biting flies. I'm not sure if it was the time of year or not, but the flies were very annoying so I would recommend bringing bug spray. Also, do not use MapQuest for directions!

A well kept and comfortable resort type B&B when dogs are celebrated and dog owners are comfortable. The meandering tidal creek can be seen from the pool and from some of the rooms. Full breakfasts are a real treat! Very private location.

Staff was super-friendly and accommodating, making us and our pugs feel right at home! Upon check-in, they provided a list of dog-friendly beaches, restaurants, shops, etc., in the area... My one suggestion would be that, until they update the restaurant list, you be sure to call and check whether a place is open. At least one phone number had been disconnected, and a couple places were dinner-only (when we were looking for lunch). All-in-all, though, a fabulous weekend!

I just returned from 2 days at the Lazy L. It's a wonderful place to get away, and since they are extremely pet friendly, you can bring along Fido too. The area is quiet and perfect for relaxing, but yet your within minutes of beaches, restaurants and shopping. My golden had a wonderful time - receiving such a welcome and playing in the dog run. They will give you info on other places in the area where Fido is welcome. This place is very clean for being so pet friendly, and the decor is a really nice beach theme. There are many amenities in-house if you don't want to go out. I got a flat tire one evening, and they were quick to lend a helping hand with that. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if they have a dog, and I'm going to check my calendar now to see when I can go back!

We found Lazy L on the internet and decided to book a reservation. My husband, I and our dog Chablis arrived to be greeted by Joanne and Debbie, the Innkeepers. The rooms were spotless, the breakfast was wonderful and we were able to bring Chablis with us for breakfast if we wanted. I would definetly recommend staying at the Inn. This was Linus's (our beagle) first vacation, because I was care giver for my mother and unable to leave the house. She past away in Aug. We decided to get away, taking Linus with us. He really enjoyed the B&B and the other dogs he met, plus the ocean. The B&B gave us names of pet-friendly places. It was a great vacation.

We made our first trip to the Lazy L on the recommendation of the Washington Post. We were seeking a vacation spot just a short drive from Washington where my husband could unwind after the bar exam, and also reconnect with our beloved Lab who'd he missed spending time with while in school and studying. We've been back three years in a row now. The Inn is lovely and well-kept, the rooms very comfortable and Joanne and Debbie are so sweet and knowledgeable about the area that you'll immediately feel like a local. Being dog friendly, the Lazy L tends to attract dog people, a warm, happy bunch. Its always a pleasure to be in the company of your fellow guests over breakfast (which are so large, filling and delicious that you may not be hungry again until dinner).

We have a puppy (our first dog) and wanted a little vacation where we could bring "Dolly," a Bichon Frise. The whole experience at the Lazy L was wonderful! My husband and I traveled together, along with my parents, and stayed for 2 nights. We took the Cape May Ferry. The grounds of the Lazy L are lovely – very well kept; the dog run (really a dog park) is huge; the innkeepers very friendly and welcoming; the rooms clean and well-appointed; the house’s many common areas include a 3rd floor lounge with a panoramic view of the property to include the creek and gardens. Interacting with the other guests and dogs was a highlight of the visit. The breakfasts are delicious also. I highly recommend the Lazy L for a fun getaway with your dog. The area beaches are really nice too, and there are several restaurants that are dog-friendly. I can imagine visiting the Lazy L in any season for a wonderful getaway vacation. We will definitely come back to visit the Lazy L with our dog, Dolly.

We have a 10 month old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who had never seen the ocean and we wanted him to experience it this summer. Our dog trainer suggested the Lazy L at Willow Creek and what a pleasant surprise it was! A perfect place to relax after a long day at the beach. All the "creature" comforts were there, from shampoo and conditioner for our pal Leo to all natural breakfast treats. The humans especially enjoyed the free ice cream.

My Fiance and I had a wonderful, relaxing, dogcentric visit at The Lazy L. The grounds are lovely and well kept-for you AND your dog, the staff helpful yet not hovering, and best of all, even though our Boston Terrier had to stay home, we had plenty of fabulous, well behaved, dog visitors to the Inn to interact with. Quite frankly, that made the stay so much more memorable-Kentucky the Beagle, and Willis the Cavalier were sooooo cute! A newly engaged couple had two of the most engaging mixed-breed dogs(can't remember their names)and the Inn keepers even helped the young man set up the proposal scene at the beach in Lewes with the dogs dressed as a Bride and Groom. Now that I would have liked to have seen. This Inn is also very tidy, and the beds were very comfortable. The pool area was very nice, as were the lounge chairs by the creek option. If you have dogs or even if you don't, I would stay here. Woof!

I stayed here for a week with my son, his friend, and my young Golden Retriever. I felt very welcome and relaxed with having my rambunctious puppy (well, 18 months old) in the room. I never thought I would have been so at ease in such a setting but I did. The breakfast was a highlight of the day for me and my son. The dog run was so large it is bigger than my own backyard; it is also clean, well-maintained and scattered with some dog toys as well. My dog behaved surprisingly well, with a few exceptions when she barked upon hearing dogs in the neighboring rooms. There were ample opportunities for my son and his friend to entertain themselves, including the pool, the communal TV, which they hooked video games up to, and a pool table. The other guests were all very nice and friendly. The staff and the two innkeepers, Debbie & Joanne, were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. I would stay at the Lazy L again and again, and so it seems would their other guests, as there were at least three other couples who have stayed before.
