Spend a night in the country on a 3 & 4 generation working family farm...
We are a working family farm, raise corn, soybeans, winter wheat & alfalfa. We have one beef cow & 2 calves and a new purbred Arabian foal that was born April 16, 2009. Bill is the neighborhood "Mr. Fixit" man.
We are just 15 minutes from Mitchell, best known for the Corn Palace, but also has six museums including: Prehistoric Indian Village and Archdome, Dakota Discovery Museum, Pepsi Cola Theatre of Performing Arts- Local Talent, Starlite Drive Inn Theatre, 5 movie theatres, Cabelas, and Antique shops.
The Corn Palace Stampede, is the best PRCA Rodeo in the state.
August brings the annual pilgrimage of Harley enthusiasts to Sturgis; we're just a short days drive away. Later in the month, Dakota Fest outside Mitchell presents the latest in farm machinery, ag buildings and fall tillage, variety of crafts, horse and livestock demonstrations
The Corn Palace features top name entertainment (such as Trace Adkins and LeAnn Rhimes), carnival, and Polka Fest.
Here on the farm are horses, chickens, ducks, perhaps a tub of turtles. You may go on a trail ride through the surrounding country.
Walk down a quiet country road, pet, feed, ride a horse, watch cattle feeding, planting harvest or just sit in the shade and listen to quiet country sounds. There is also pheasant hunting (in season). Oct. 20 thru Dec.
The original part of our home was built by Billy's grandparents before 1900, after immigrating from Germany. Two bedrooms upstairs, (one the family room with the crib) downstairs part of the living room and master bedroom complete the area that 13 people lived in! Later the dining room and in 1950 the kitchen and bathrooms were added. In 2000, 3 bedrooms & 2 baths were added in lower level, Morning Glory room, Bird Room & Western Room.
