    A Magical Place

    March 30, 2013

Truely magical! This historic home is beautiful in every respect, and our hosts were the best! A great place to go for a quiet read or stroll around their extensive grounds, AND the great Ashley River plantations are only a half an hour away! For us the Linwood Inn was a great find and we'll definitely be coming back. Three cottages on the grounds also provide accommodations for families or persons desiring a longer stay in lovely Summerville.

    Delightful Escape

    January 21, 2012

Our first visit to Linwood was a delightful surprise. We entered The Cottage walking through the hedge trimmed brick path into the screened porch with an overhead fan, antique door knocker and surrounded by English gardens. I felt a bit like I had walked into a fairytale. The Cottage has antiques and little pieces sprinkled throughout the home, sometimes discovered when least expected. The gardens have a few surprises tucked in here and there as well. Last Christmas, we stayed in the Historic Home B & B and Mr. Peter surprised us with a small Christmas tree in the hall outside our room for our 8 year old. Miss Linda supplied a basket of decorations for him to decorate the tree himself. The Shelbournes have a gift of hospitality while allowing privacy for their guests as well. A sweet, luxury break from the routine for this Michigan family.
