A lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Our room was wonderful - very spacious with the bedroom upstairs in the loft. This would be a perfect base for an extended stay for business or leisure travel. Make sure you eat at Mr. Friendly's New Southern right next door.

We came to Columbia on Master's weekend, not realizing that Columbia would be just about booked up that weekend as well! We lucked upon this Inn online, and took a chance - and I am SO glad we did. The bed was extremely comfortable, parking was great, and though as we walked in late Saturday night, we could hear parties next door on the college campus, it didn't bother us at all in the room. The staff was excellent, and the whole place was very comfortable. We will be returning to town for a wedding, and recommending the guests stay here! The parfait for breakfast was delicious - a great appetizer for going out for a big breakfast later.

The Claussen was the perfect place for a romantic evening. We stayed in a loft room with a spiral staircase and a four poster bed. It was quaint like a Bed and Breakfast but private like a hotel. I absolutely adore historic places and it was awesome seeing the old Bakery being turned into a wonderful place for guests to stay. I browsed a lot of hotels in town, including the Sheraton and the Claussen by far exceeded my expectations with cost, comfort and quality. Didn't think I would be successful in finding a place to stay that didn't have that cold hotel room feel. We will definitely be making more romantic getaways there!

We stayed here as part of a trip through the south that included Charleston and Savannah. We attended the South Carolina-Georgia Football game and stayed there that weekend. The room was a nice King room--very comfortable bed, spacious, the best shower of anyplace I have ever stayed, nice breakfast that is delivered to your room. The location is right at the 5 points in Columbia which is full of restaurants, bars, and shops. We ate dinner about 150 yds. away at Garibaldi's and it was outstanding. The best part of this place was the people that worked there. They could not have been any nicer. If we get to Columbia again we would stay here. I am giving it 5 starts because of the value. It is not a 5 star like a 4 seasons or Ritz Carlton.

Wonderful service, great building character, and fantastic location

We had a wonderful stay - the service of the staff was phenomenal - very personal. The character of the building was really cool, and very conveniently located to shopping & restaurants. Walking distance from USC's campus. Served complimentary cookies in the afternoon, wine in the evening, breakfast in the morning, and coffee/tea all day. We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again for sure if we were in Columbia.
