My husband and I stayed here in March 2011 and what a surprise! Our bedroom was so well presented, tastefully decorated, clinically clean, and spacious. Bottle of wine gift nestled in our towels on the bed. Our hosts, Ana and Ken could not have done more for us. Every Ando tour Ken recommended we did and they were perrrrrrfect! Ken being a miner even took us out to one of his mines and we met his two workers. The restaurant recommendation was inexpensive and very good. Everything we needed was in the frig and even freshly baked cookies on the table when we got 'home' from our excursions. They have two other spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished rooms. We sunk into the elegant lounge suite and watched TV with a glass of vino after our long day. The Happy Hour with Ana and Ken was so appreciated - I think it was H.H.2 or 3!! We thoroughly recommend this elegant, gracious and sophisticated bed and breakfast. We give it more stars than are available!

The real gem is not the Opals, it is this B&B

One of the best places we have ever stayed in in Australia. So comfortable, modern, clean, friendly, classy and with everything we could want and more. Truly an enchanting place, and soooo relaxing. We stayed 4 nights with our 5 and 8yo boys and still we were able to relax. This is really a case of the accommodation making our holiday. I really cannot recommend this place enough. I don't normally write reviews and I have been lazy about getting around to writing this, but I really feel that Ken and Ana have something special and I want to share. The boys had such fun looking for Opal fragments in the grounds (they even found quite a bit) and my wife found a decent piece the size of her finger which we had made into a pendant. I can't think of a single thing that I would like to see changed - it is perfect as it is. Now if only there were more like them...

    Fantastic!

My husband and I weren't sure what to expect after reading the reviews for Coober Pedy ("the middle of nowhere" & "piles of rocks" etc.). We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Coober Pedy airport and Ken was there waiting for us with all of his knowledge about the area and a huge smile. Ken and Ana have created a wonderful desert oasis in their underground bed and breakfast. It is extremely close to town and to all of the recommended restaurants and sites. We stayed in room 1 (queen sized bed & ensuite). There is a huge common area including a TV room with plenty of movies, a full kitchen (stocked with cereals for breakfast, tea, milk and fruit). Both rooms and common areas were clean and nicely appointed. There is a fantastic covered BBQ area with a table and lounge chairs to relax and enjoy the breeze. On the edge of the property, one can find the scrap Ken brings back from his mine site for guests to noodle through. We found a lot of beautiful opal shards and one was big enough to cut and polish! I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Ken and Ana are incredibly friendly and helpful when it comes to planning activities for the day. They have their own tour company (Ando Tours) and Ken will bring you everywhere you need to go (see tours on their website) and is very knowledgeable about the area and about opal mining. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

My sister found Ken & Ana's B&B on the web - we decided that if we were going to visit Coober Pedy, we would do it in style! Boy are we glad! The moment we arrived we were greeted by Ken & Ana - very warm and friendly people, for whom nothing is too much trouble. The B&B is superbly appointed, equivalent to a 4 or 5 star hotel. The children were welcomed too, and loved noodling for opal out the front (so did we). My husband enjoyed Ken's home brew beer as he is a home brewer himself. We enjoyed Ken & Ana's company for a few drinks in the outdoor entertaining area - conversation flowed easily! We have already recommended their B&B to all we have spoken to, and won't hesitate to return ourselves! This will be a highlight of your holiday if you choose to stay at Ken & Ana's. We have made new friends in Ken & Ana, and will stay in touch.

Two couples from Tasmania touring the Flinders Ranges travelled down from Oodnadatta and decided to stay at the Underground B&B (picked up a brochure from Arkaroola). On arrival we were given a tour of the premises and a cool beveridge to slake our thirst. After advise from Ken & Ana we knew the best places to visit & dine. While we were having a look around Coober Pedy Ana hang our washing out to dry - how good was that?? After showering in the spotless bathroom we were ready to dine out. Before leaving Ken & Ana produced a red wine to whet our appetites. The range of drinks, cereals, bread & fruits available for us was unbelievable. Their hospitality has to be experienced to be believed. Thank you Ken & Ana for making our short stay a memorable one. regards Sheryl & Pat Manion
