Sue and I loved our stay.Fabulous location and Annie was great.Nice room,good breakfast.Wayland Square is right at your doorstep.Would highly recommend it.

It was a very hot day when we arrived and Annie made us feel very welcome. She wasn't prepared for us because we just showed up. The room was very nice and clean and we also had a bathroom which was very welcoming. She gave us a very good dining tip and her selfmade breakfast was simple but delicious.

I had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at the Annie Brownell House. Very convenient location and off street parking. Breakfast was delicious and lots of casual conversation. Hope to visit again!

It was a pleasant stay and have no complaints. Nice house but would go elsewhere next time to have another experience.

Charming old house with lovely decor. Free off-street parking. Annie the inn keeper works hard to keep to keep guests happy but it is sometimes hard for her with just one person running the house, I think she is a little frazzled at times. Breakfast was delicious but it was not clear what time it would be served. One morning I got up early (after getting in very late) so I wouldn't miss breakfast and ended up waiting about 45 minutes for it to be served. Wonderful comraderie with the other guests at breakfast. Bathrooms lacked shampoo and conditioner.

We had a great stay at Annie Brownell House. Excellent room with private bath, good breakfasts, off-street parking, wireless Internet, and strategically located for access to all points of interest in the East side of Providence. We enjoyed meeting Annie, the innkeeper, and sharing breakfast with pleasant and interesting guests.

I've stayed twice at Annie Brownell's House (bed and breakfast) in Angell St, Providence. It's a place with a lot of period charm, run by the very welcoming and helpful Annie. The rooms are very comfortable, with wooden floors, well appointed bathrooms, and great food. Also, if you're visiting Brown students or eyeing up a possible place at the university, there's a good chance that like me, you'll meet others in the same boat and be able to exchange notes. Annie Brownell House is a great place to stay for many reasons. The location makes for an enjoyable walk to anywhere in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence, including the Brown campus, RISD, the historic district and an abundance of good restaurants. Annie Tunderman is helpful with information if you need it and with hospitality. If you are independent and don't need advice from her, she respects that also. During a recent two night stay at Annie Brownell House, she was both available with helpful information and respectful of our need for privacy. My husband and I enjoyed good conversation with Annie and the other guests staying with her over delicious breakfasts in the beautiful dining room. I wanted to linger much longer over breakfast, good coffee, interesting company and an abundance of magazines. Our room was lovely, cozy and oh so comfortable. Annie Brownell House B&B exceeded our expectations and we would stay there again without question.

You can stay in a hotel in Providence, if you like wandering among ugly sky-scrapers in a depersonalized traffic-filled area. Or you can stay in this B and B, in the midst of the beautiful architecture that makes Providence worth visiting. We loved this place. Gorgeous house. Immaculately clean, spacious room and bathroom with beautiful touches throughout. The owner is welcoming and very helpful. And a great cook! Be sure to leave time for breakfast. Dog-lovers will want to get to know Lady, whose behavior is perfectly suited to her name.

Annie has an outstanding location and a friendly atmosphere. The location has easy access to Brown University, flashy downtown Providence, and cultural hotspots of the city. Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast conversation was always lively and interesting. Her Golden Retriever was a comforting, calm, and very well trained. Overall, a great value.

If you’re visiting Providence and manage to book a room at the Annie Brownell House, you’re in for a treat. During my son’s four years in college in Providence, I have stayed here on every visit. I have stayed with my son, with my husband, and by myself, and in almost all the rooms in the house. The rooms are all immaculate and beautifully decorated with period furniture, and the breakfasts are so good and abundant, and the other guests often so interesting, that it’s easy to linger late into the morning. Typical breakfasts include apple and walnut pancakes, French toast with homemade preserves, fresh fruit salad, homemade muffins, juices, and lots of steaming coffee with milk or cream. The shirred eggs were such a favorite that I asked for the recipe, and they’re on their way to becoming a holiday breakfast at home. Most of the rooms have private bathrooms, and two of the rooms can be combined into a suite. The B&B is a pleasant 10- or 15-minute walk from the Brown University campus along a lovely street lined with trees and historic houses. Annie Tunderman, an Englishwoman, goes out of her way to make her guests feel at home. We have been offered a ride into town when it was raining, and late-evening conversation when we arrived back from a night out. And always waiting to greet the guests is Lady, Annie’s well-mannered and affectionate golden retriever—when you’ve traveled 3000 miles, what could be better?

The Annie Burnell House is a lovely spacious house in the colonial style where you seem to be back in historic Providence. Annie is a friendly hostess, well-informed on this historic city and we enjoyed the breakfast and conversation with the other guests. Angell Street was the birthplace of the visionary writer, HP Lovecraft, and you can sense the atmosphere of his stories in the high wooden houses and leafy streets. I will always remember the strangeness of walking at night in search of the house of his birth. He loved solitary walks and must have often walked this street. Sadly the house was demolished in the 1960s, but you can enjoy a Starbucks coffee on the site. Our stay was a very memorable experience and not I hope the last in Providence .
