The Artful Lodger is a bright and airy Victorian built in 1850 located in the Mansion District, and centrally located within 5 minutes from downtown Newport's shopping and dining area. We guarantee you private off-street parking, private baths with all rooms and suites, and an exquisite gourmet breakfast in our conservatory overlooking the Newport Harbor. Our warmest welcome! When you stay with us, you will be neighboring "The Elms," a Newport mansion owned by the infamous robber baron, E. J. Berwind. The mansion is famous for its sunken gardens and lavish parties (even in present day). The secret coal tunnel designed by the coal magnate is steps away from our front door. It was used for discreetly transporting fuel for the first electric lights of the turn of the century elite's "summer cottages." Certain weekends may have a minimum 3night stay - call Inn with any questions-800-503-1850

My husband and I stayed at the Artful Lodger recently for a weekend getaway. The Inn is perfectly located in town - no need to drive around, as everything is within a reasonable walking distance (historic mansions, piers, Thames Street, and lots of yummy restaurant options). The Inn itself is quiet, comfortable and cozy - nothing too over the top and nothing underwhelming about it. It's perfectly hospitable, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and met all of our needs. Lisa and Randy were the best part about staying there; they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fun. Not to mention they make a mean breakfast, which is served on the top floor of the inn and overlooks Thames down to the water. If we are able to get up to Newport again, we will definitely be staying here!

Breakfast was delicious and talking with the other guests while eating was very pleasant. Lisa was very helpful with sights to see and restaurants to patronize. It was a pleasant atmosphere and the room was clean and large. We would definitely return.

The Artful Lodger Inn was beautiful, the beds were extremely comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The views from the sunroom/breakfast table were incredible. The inn was easy to find and within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. We are already planning a return trip to Newport and cannot wait to stay there again!

Despite being blocks away from the fun Newport night life, was a great relaxing weekend getaway spot.

The B&B was great. Loved the location, loved the room, and loved Randy and Lisa. The breakfasts were wonderful and the view of Newport from the breakfast table can't be beat. You can walk just about everywhere because it's in the middle of everything. We will definitely return.

This was a last minute trip for my wife and I who just got married a few days before. The accommodations were great...the only complaint I really had were the disrespectful people outside at 3am screaming drunk about who knows what. I know that the college is near by but it is also still a tourist attraction for most of the year.
