Our stay at the Almondy was wonderful but just be prepared to join the danceclub (One Pelham) until about 1am. Not a big deal for us as we were up late but could spoil your restful slumber if you are an early sleeper.

We just enjoyed a perfect getaway, Evelyne is a wonderful hostess, very kind and helpful. The Burgundy Suite was large and comfortable with a fireplace in the bedroom, just what was needed on a rainy night. The breakfasts were delicious and satisfying. We can't wait to return.

We were greeted warmly by the gracious owner. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. However it is located beside an extremely loud nightclub/bar and on both nights of our stay we were unable to sleep before 1.30 am. If you want to sleep don't stay there.

The Almondy Inn was a delightful and hospitable getaway. Herber and Evelyn were gracious, welcoming, and accomodating. The accomodations were well appointed; the sheets were exquisite. We were extremely comfortable.

Quite simply the Almondy Inn is fabulous! The rooms are immaculate and beautifully appointed and the breakfast is a delicious start to the new day. It was Evelyn and Herber, our wonderful hosts however that made this weekend so marvelous. Ahead of our visit Evelyn assisted me in several planning activities for the first weekend my wife and I have had without children in tow for years. She was absolutely wonderful in recommending a variety of special little surprises that I scheduled for my wife. My wife and I have been visiting Newport for many years and we have truly found our second home in this beautiful city by the Sea. We so look forward to the next opportunity to visit them and stay at the Almondy Inn.

What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Theresa was phenomenal. She made our stay comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful house with lots to do nearby.

Our second trip to Newport and first to the Almondy Inn. Put the B&B we previously stayed at to shame. Beautiful inn, outstanding hospitality and a 5 star breakfast. Well worth the extra cost. Will definitely be our go to place in Newport.

My wife and I recently stayed overnight at the Almondy Inn in downtown Newport. It exceeded out expectations. Its convenient location to Thames Street made it unnecessary to take the car to shop or enjoy restaurant week. Evelyne was welcoming and informative. Our room was outstanding with fireplace, Jacuzzi, tv and free internet. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and the delicious breakfast in the morning added to our mini vacation. We will definitely be returning for a longer stay next year.

The Almondy Inn was a beautiful and enjoyable place to stay. We enjoyed every aspect of the experience. Evelyne and Herber are such warm, and down to earth people. Conversing with them and the other couples that were also staying there was such a fun and uplifting time. Wine and cheese each evening, an unbelievable breakfast that was custom to each persons nutritional restrictions, and a suite that was downright gorgeous! What more could you ask for? Each person was tended to in a personal way, down to my sugar and carb restrictions. Evelyne made me muffins that were unbelievable, something I haven't had in about 8 years. It is an experience that you shouldn't miss! Thank you again, Evelyne and Herber....can't wait till we book again!

One night at the Almondy Inn is definitely not long enough. The room begged us to kick back and relax, but we were off and running around Newport - where there is so much to do - one can't see everything even in 1 week! It was not our first visit, and now that we discovered this delightful Inn - so close to the Wharf, we will return. The Blue Bay room was spacious and had partial views of the harbor and the bridge. The large jacuzzi tub was excellent. it was a little difficult to keep water from splashing onto the bathroom floor when using the shower. The room was very clean except for the windowsills. The bed was comfortable with nice linens, although the mattress was starting to sag slightly toward the middle. It was such a lovely room with blue and gold drapes, a fireplace, and elegant touches of antiques. Herber and Evelyn were wonderful hosts. The Inn is restored with beautiful furnishings and large windows. Evelyn's breakfast of blueberry pancakes with a hint of lemon zest and vanilla were fabulous. She also presented home made cappuccino muffins with white choc. chips. The coffee was good, and strong enough- which we do not always find to be the case in R.I. We could hear music wafting up from the wharf during the Seafood Festival, and if the bar next door has loud music on Saturday nights, you may hear that as well. Otherwise, the street is nice and quiet at night. We slept well. What a joy to be able to park in their private lot and walk to nearly everything you would want to see. Parking downtown is not easy during peak seasons. The inn creates a stress free experience.

We were extremely pleased with our experience at the Almondy Inn. The room (Blue Room) was well appointed, clean and had excellent seating available. Evelyn was a wonderful host. The breakfasts were different each day, the service was excellent. Being a small B&B, the mornings were delightful. We met people from Scotland, Sweden, England and New York. The conversations were quite interesting. The Almondy is quite close to the harbor and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. I would recommend this to anyone, at least during the off season. During the summer, it might be somewhat louder with its proximity to the bars and harbor life. Overall, a very excellent choice!

THIS IS A LOVELY PROPERTY IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION. THE OWNER/HOSTESS IS VERY GRACIOUS AND HELPFUL IN GIVING SUGGESTIONS ABOUT WHAT TO SEE IN NEWPORT. WE HAD SOME GREAT BREAKFAST CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER GUESTS.

This is an exceptional Bed and Breakfast. The location is absolutely perfect and very convenient to anything that you wish to do in Newport. There is off street parking in the back, and once we parked, we had no need to drive until we left. The property was immaculately clean. Herber and Evelyne are gracious hosts and their hospitality was outstanding. The breakfasts were delicious and there was wine and cheese in the afternoon. This is the second time that we stayed at the Almondy Inn, and we highly recommend it.

Beautiful rooms in a great location in Newport. Be aware that younger children are not allowed - we surprised the innkeepers with our kids. (It says so at the bottom of the "policies and procedures" link but we never read it). We didn't eat breakfast there but the spread looked quite impressive from what we saw.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. Our hostess was very helpful, and the location is really convenient to waterfront attractions. Just a short drive to the mansions of Newport.
3.2 on August 26, 2013
my husband and I enjoyed our 3 nite stay very much. even though the inn is very close to town it was quiet enough to sleep peacefully. The off street parking was a huge bonus. You honestly can't ask for more when visiting Newport. The location of Almondy was absolutely perfect for us. The owners are unbelievably friendly and warm. The rooms are very nice and very comfortable. I will stay here every time I go to Newport.
4.4 on August 03, 2013
What we expect at a quality B&B is a high bar. Quality service, clean and comfortable accomadations and a welcoming host. Almondy met all of those, and then some. Incredibly convenient location -- a block away from the main wharf and all the shops and a comfortable walk or short drive to the mansions and other sites and sights of beautiful Newport. Our room and bath were a little small, with a window AC but very comfortable. We would definitely return.
5 on August 03, 2013
Our stay at the Almondy Inn was fantastic! We stayed in the Lanai suite. It was perfect. The bed was very comfortable. We had a nice view of the water from our balcony. We looked forward to breakfast in the am it was delicious. We also really liked the wine and cheese in the afternoon. It was a nice way to meet the other guests. We would love to visit Newport and stay at the Almondy again soon.

We stayed for a romantic, one night anniversary get away. The innkeeper was helpful but not intrusive. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We loved the whirlpool tub. The best part is the location, walk out the door and you are in the heart of Newport. Rooms are pricey, but you are paying for a great location.

Love the European ambiance, superb service, fabulous breakfasts and great locaiton within walking distance of the waterfront and Tennis Hall of Fame.
5 on June 19, 2013
We stayed here for two nights as part of a three week honeymoon around New England. We both had the best night sleep of our entire trip in this Inn. The room was beautiful with an amazing bed and lovely fixtures in the room. We couldn't say enough about the location, you are just set back off Thames street, so everything can be reached within a few minutes walk. The breakfasts were really nice, a two course affair, very tasty and they set us up for the rest of the day. Ivan was a really nice host, and took great care of us each day. We met the owner, Evelyn on the last day and she was such a nice lady. She made sure everything was to our liking and was extremely courteous and helpful on checkout. Housekeeping were also excellent. We left something in the room after check-out, and then came down and put it under our car wipers, whilst we'd headed back into town to buy a few odds and ends after having checked out. Room Tip: We chose the Sunset room, great bed and lovely fitting and fixtures. Bonus of partial harbor view.
4.8 on June 15, 2013
What a fabulous bed and breakfast, beautifully decorated and finished, in a great location right next to Thames Street and the waterfront. Free Car parking off road meant we were able to wander the area and enjoy all the sights without running up expensive parking charges. The home cooked breakfasts were to die for and a sociable wine and cheese hour in the late afternoon meant a chance to chat to fellow guests. Evelyne was the perfect hostess and we would highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for a boutique hotel experience. Ceri Hill and Graham Screen, Wales UK

My boyfriend and I stayed overnight at the Almondy, and we wished our stay had been longer. The hospitality was wonderful, and we especially enjoyed the wine and cheese hour in the evening. It allowed us to get to know some other very interesting guests at the Inn. One of the best aspects of this place is the location. You're within walking distance of numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. We didn't even need to drive our car after checking in for the evening. The only very minor complaints we had were that the bed wasn't quite firm enough for our taste, and we would have appreciated a mini-fridge with more beverages than just 2 bottles of water. There was a loud bar playing live music about a block away, but we didn't really notice the sound with the windows shut. The room was clean and beautiful. The jetted bath and bedside fireplace were especially nice. We highly recommend staying here!
4.2 on June 02, 2013
We stayed in the Sunset room, it's on the small side but very comfortable. There were a few peculiarities, like the T.V. is located in the corner to the left which makes it difficult to watch from the four-poster bed as one of the four posts is in the way. Otherwise lovely room, the bed is super comfortable and the bathroom has a great shower. What makes the inn special is Evelyne, the inn keeper, who is friendly and accommodating. Her idea of hosting a wine and cheese get together for guests every day at 5pm is inspired, this sort of attention to detail means the Almondy Inn stands out from your average hotel. Breakfast changes every day and is cooked fresh and served with fruit, tea/coffee & orange juice. What more could you ask for?

My husband and I went for our honeymoon. The owners were away, but the gentleman taking care of the place was super nice and sweet. The location is right there by the waterfront, restuarants and shops. The place was very clean, I was a little disappointed that they didn't have drinks, tea, coffee out all the time for your convenience, all the other B&Bs I visted did this, but the store was right down the street. Also, there is a bar that you can hear their music till 2 in the morning, however, you should expect to hear some noise since your so close to everything. Overall we had a nice time.

The Inn is beautifully maintained, Evelyne and Herbert are very friendly and welcoming. Thanks!!

My girlfriend and I were here for a weekend in April, 2013 and I was very happy with the Almondy Inn. The owners definitely take pride in their Inn and it shows. Rooms were very clean, fresh, and inviting. Breakfast was great both mornings we were there as well. The location couldn't be better - literally steps from Thames street and very easy to get to restaurants, bars, etc. We would definitely recommend/go back.
3.8 on May 05, 2013
We really enjoyed the hospitality provided by the owners, including sharing some life stories over complimentary wine and cheese! The location was perfect for the time of year we went (pre-season, in April), with a very short walk to Thames St. with all of the downtown shopping, food, and bars. We were still able to drive around and see all of the attractions, including beaches and mansions, within a 10 minute drive. The breakfast served was fantastic each morning, and provided a great time to mingle with the other guests. We had a wonderful stay.

My boyfriend and I took advantage of the off season rates and spent a night at the Almondy B&B. We stayed in the Blue room. The room was beautifully decorated , the bed was extremely comfortable, and the fireplace added to the romantic atmosphere. My favorite aspect of the room was definitely the 2 person jacuzzi tub. I'm 6'2 and it was so refreshing to have access to a bathtub that was actually long enough for me. We really enjoyed the personal touches of the inn, wine and cheese at night, a warm delicious breakfast in the morning, bathrobes in the rooms. We can't wait to go back!

My wife and I spent a long weekend in Newport to celebrate our anniversary. Evelyne & Herber are wonderful hosts and clearly love what they are doing. We can't say enough great things about this B&B! The breakfast offerings were far above and beyond anything we've seen in a B&B. The wine & cheese hour was a very nice touch allowing us to meet and chat with the other guests. With only five rooms these events served to bracket the day and really make us feel at home with the other guests in the house.

My wife and I stayed at the Almondy Inn during the America's Cup World Series in July, 2012. It was our first visit to Newport and we knew little about the town, but I don't think we could have found a more perfect place to stay. The location is fantastic, just steps away from the wharfs and the center of the village. The room was wonderful, the innkeepers charming, and the breakfasts were amazing. We will absolutely be returning to the Almondy Inn the next time we visit Newport. Very highly recommended.

Stayed at the Almondy Inn for two nights in September. The Inn was very close to Bowens Wharfe, which was excellent for dining options at night , as there were lots of restaurants to choose from which were only a short walk away. The Inn was beautifully appointed. Breakfasts were lovely and we were offered wine and cheese between the hours of 5- 6. Would have been nice to have coffee machines in the bedroom for early morning coffee. Staff and owners very friendly and helpful with tourist information requests. Would stay again.

Getting to meet and talk with other guests while eating a delicious home made breakfast was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. We definitely plan on staying at the Almondy Inn again next time we visit Newport.

After many hours of research of various B&B's in the Newport Area, we chose The Almondy Inn. We were not disappointed!!! We are very particular in every regard, and the Almondy Inn met and/or exceeded every expectation we had. It is meticulously clean, both inside and out. The food was abundant and delicious. The room and bathroom were spotless and more than comfortable. The inn was within walking distance to downtown (literally 2 minutes), and saved us a bundle on parking. We arrived early, and The Valkenbergs were wonderfully hospitable. Without a doubt we would come back to this Inn! My husband and I felt is was the best B&B around. The previous reviews were spot on! Can't recommend it enough!

Had a wonderful time at the Almondy Inn. Would highly recommend it. The owners, Evelyne and Herber were very warm and welcoming, made you feel like part of the family. They asked us about any dietary restrictions (vegetarian and lactose intolerant) we may have had and went above and beyond to meet them. They were able to give us many recommendations on the area (restaurants, attractions, etc) and knew the history well. The rooms were lovely and well maintained. The free parking during our stay was key as with most other hotels in the area you have to pay a fee. Overall, it was a great experience and this will definitely turn into a yearly trip.

Me and my husband stayed at the Almondy Inn on June 8 and June 9 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The location of the Inn was outstanding, just steps away from Thames Street where all the restaurants, shops and Bannister's Wharf is located. We stayed in the Blue Bay room and it was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable. We also had a jacuzzi in our bathroom, which was very relaxing after a long day of activities. The breakfasts were also very good and if you didn't like something that was being served on that day, Evelyn was happy to make something different. We would highly recommend the Almondy Inn to our family and friends and if we ever have the chance to go to Newport again we know exactly where we will stay.

Evelyn and Herber are the ultimate hosts; we had a great night sleep each evening and woke to a fabulouse breakfast! They have restored the house beautifully and tastefully. Almondy Inn is literally steps from Bannisters Wharf, the Newport Yacht Club marina and directly behind 3 nightclubs; but despite the close proximity to just about everything we didn't hear any noise at all once we closed our window. A very peaceful sleep in the middle of all the action. We will be back!!

Went for a couple of nights to see Newport and wanted to stay at a B&B. We were both very happy with our choice. Evelyn (innkeeper) was very gracious, more then helpful with dinner suggestions, etc. The Inn had off-street parking which was great considering how crowded it is in the historical area (and expensive to pay for a lot). Gourmet breakfast was great, and we loved the wine & cheese hour in the evening. We have already recommended to friends!

We have visited Newport in the last three years and stayed at a hotel and two B&B's. The Almondy is by far our best experience! It is a beautifully restored inn. We stayed in the Blue Bay Room. It was comfortable and exceptionally clean. The jacuzzi tub was a treat! It is evident that Evelyne and Herber take great pride in their establishment and welcome each and every guest as family. The inn is impeccable both inside and out. Ample parking is available. Evelyne knows the area very well and offers great suggestions for restaurant dining and things to do. Breakfast at the inn is superb! She is very accommodating to food allergies and can offer vegetarian options as well. We enjoyed chatting with guests during our stay at breakfast and at the end of the day at the wine and cheese hour. The inn is steps away from all the activities on the wharf area but is also very quiet and relaxing. We had a great experience and will certainly return!

One of the better B&B's my wife and I have stayed in.

My parents have been coming here for a few years, and this time my husband and I took a trip with them. Upon entering the Almondy Inn, my expectations were substantially exceeded. From the hospitable welcome at the front door, to the immaculate, spacious rooms, service, EXQUISITE breakfasts, and other "homey" touches, my husband and I had only wished we started staying here sooner! We were treated like relatives of the innkeepers, and Evelyne assisted us with our daily itineraries, never once leaving us disappointed. Our 4-night, 5-day stay was filled to the brim with activities and delicious meals at the area's superb restaurants. This establishment is run with the utmost professionalism, and the location is spot-on. With just a short walk down to the corner, Bannister's Wharf awaits you. After long afternoons, you can expect "wine and cheese hour" in the parlor and a lovely chat with Evelyne. After dinner, it was a pleasure returning to our charming rooms, but not without relaxing first, on the front porch, enjoying an ice-cream cone from the corner chocolate/ice-cream shop. We will certainly be returning to the Almondy Inn, just like some of the other repeat-guests that we met while staying there. If there is anything you ever need throughtout your stay, Evelyne and her husband Herber are always around to assist you with a smile. We were so sorry to leave!

After having stayed at The Almondy Inn several times, I must say it never disappoints. The rooms are immaculate and Evelyne's breakfasts are superb. We are treated like very dear friends as opposed to guests. We feel very at home there. Also, it is very convenient to the wharf. A very short walk. The only place we will stay in Newport is The Almondy Inn!

You could not ask for better accomodations even at the Ritz. Almondy is by far the best bed & breakfast we have ever stayed at. The location is perfect to downtown Newport, walk to everything. Can't say enough about the room, the view, quiet, the cleanliness, like new condition, and victorian charm, all with a European flare. Now, breakfast was cooked to order no buffet and by candle light at the dining room table. That's over the top. Harold & Marilyn Taylor, Plymouth MA.

We received a gift card for Bed and Breakfast.com and chose Newport as we have never been there. I researched every inn using this site and Trip Advisor and my husband and I agreed that the Almondy was perfect. The location is the best; you are a few short blocks from the wharves, the historic district and all the action, shopping and restaurants on Thames St. Evelyn is gracious and helpful and it is easy to see that she loves what she does. Her breakfasts are absolutely delicious and served elegantly. We enjoyed fresh fruits, homemade muffins and croissants, eggs florentine, etc. She serves up wine, cheese and conversation at 5pm which is a great way to meet other people or just get ideas from Evelyn. She is extremely knowledgeable about all things Newport and with so many choices it helps to narrow things down. We stayed in the Blue Bay room for two nights. The room is immaculate as is the large bathroom, which has a lovely basket of luxury toiletries. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The guest areas of the house are just as well kept, gracious yet inviting. During our travels we did see many of the other B and B's listed and we were so glad we chose the Almondy Inn. We are already planning our return trip!

Well located for the wharfs. Very pleasant inn that is exceptionally appointed. Kingsize bed can leave little room for any luggage in room. Wine and cheese on greeting. Very pleasant

My friend and I had a wonderful stay for 1 night at the Almondy Inn. Evelyne, the innkeeper, is a gracious host and serves a delicious breakfast. She provdided the perfect balance between Newport guide and host while maintaining our privacy. Within walking distance to the main harbor, shops and restaurants. Having parking available as well was a huge convenience. We would definitely consider staying here again with our repective partners.

We had a near-perfect stay at the Almondy Inn. We stayed in the Plantation Room, which was very comfortable, if a bit overwhelmed by a large, very comfortable bed. The location is as good as it gets. Our hosts were very friendly, very helpful, and very accommodating (pun intended). Breakfast was delicious. When I declined a suggested meal, a fine alternative was cheerfully supplied. If we're ever in the area, we would certainly try to stay here again!

Evelyne & Herber Valkenberg are wonderful hosts. They are eager to please and are gracious and welcoming. Their B&B is located about two blocks away from shopping, restaurants and the waterfront. They're also only a 5 - 6 minute drive to the famous Cliff Walk. They offer offstreet parking, a quiet location, a very tasty breakfast, a nice wine and cheese hour where you can chat with them as well as their guests, and lovely amenities. If you're planning a stay in Newport you should definitely consider The Almondy Inn.

Joe and I spent two nights at the Almondy Inn in Newport during the "heat wave" (last week of August, 2010). We had the Burgundy Suite, which was fabulous - superb 4-poster bed, tons of space, and great A/C. Evelynne, the owner, is an extremely gracious, multi-lingual, cultured woman - a delightful hostess, who makes you feel completely at home. The two women who work at the Inn are lovely, charming and helpful. The full breakfast is excellent - wine and cheese in the afternoon a perfect break in a busy sight-seeing day, and an opportunity to meet and talk with other guests (when we were there they ranged from 2 couples from Connecticut, to a lovely couple from Germany who were driving through New England). The Inn is 1/2 block up Pelham Street from Bannister's Wharf - close enough to walk to restaurants - far enough to feel you are in another, quieter, more relaxed world. We will definitely stay there again if we should return to Newport, which is very likely since we didn't get a chance to see all the Mansions, etc.

5/9/09--This was the first time my husband and I stayed in a B&B. Our experience at The Almondy Inn was nothing short of spectacular. The inn is conveniently located to wharves for great shopping and good eating. Our room had a very comfortable bed. Overall, the inn is very clean and elegant. Plus, parking is free in their driveway! Evelyn is a wonderful hostess and goes out of her way to make you feel at ease! We would definitely return again.
