This stone house in Narragansett is one of Rhode Island's most charming bed and breakfast inns. The 8500 square foot home resides in a lovely area of South County about 1.5 miles from the beautiful town beach. The home was built in the 1800s from stone quarried on the site. Although the floor plan has stayed true to the original design, it has completely been updated - including the elevator. The home and gardens are a continuous work in progress with new flowers, trees, gardens and improvements every year. The gardens include a white garden, water garden with koi, a shade garden, and a small formal garden with a fountain. The Richards has four bedrooms with king or queen beds. All rooms have private baths and fireplaces. A queen suite and a two-bedroom king/queen suite both have separate sitting rooms. Each morning, guests wake up to the smell of Nancy's full, gourmet breakfast, served in the beautifully appointed dining room.

4.8 out of 5Lovely family weekend
August 28, 2012
My husband, 2 grown sons and our 12 year old granddaughter spent a wonderful weekend at the Richards' while we relaxed in Narragansett. We had the 2 bedroom suite, with sitting room and private bath which were decorated beautifully and gave us plenty of room for all of us to be together, and have separateness when needed! Nancy and Steven were terrific, interesting and engaging hosts and we had quite a few laughs as well. Nancy made scrumptious breakfasts each morning....great for grown-ups and kids alike. We wandered the lovely grounds, enjoying the hammock, plantings and koi pond. We will definitely be back!

As shown on their website, the Richards B&B is a lovely old stone home in Narragansett. We booked the two bedroom suite so we could share it with our daughter and son-in-law. Imagine our surprise to find that the most expensive "room" was the most bare bones. Decorated sparsely with no attention to charm, the suite looked like what it was originally used for when the house was built - the servants quarters. The sitting area was comprised of an uncomfortable loveseat and 2 uncomfortable chairs and there was neither a TV nor music anywhere in the house. We have stayed at a lot of B&Bs and there is usually a feel of welcome, but "Druids Dream" was a nightmare of cold, impersonal space. Sherry in the rooms? No. Water glasses that once used were never cleaned or replaced? Yes. The extra blanket from the closet turned out to be full of beach sand and ruined one night's sleep. On the positive side, the breakfasts were good, the other guest rooms were quite lovely as were the grounds. However, our overall impression was of a formal and impersonal house where we did not feel comfortable or particularly welcome.

We just returned from 3 days in paradise at The Richards Bed and Breakfast. The Inn keepers were down-to-earth and charming. The house is beautiful, elegant inside with beautiful gardens outside. I enjoyed resting in the hammock while listening to the gentle water fall by the Koi pond. The breakfasts were delicious, Nancy should market her homemade muffins! Our rooms were air conditioned which was needed during the heat wave this weekend. The beds are comfortable, the shower was forceful and had plenty of hot water. The inn is close to the beaches and we are ready to move-in with the Richards!

This will go down as one of our most memorable stays anywhere. The set up of the home is excellent plenty of common areas and everything fully decorated (we came away with many new ideas for our own home). The grounds are wonderful we spent considerable time walking the gardens and in the Folly. The hosts were very open and happy to explain about the house and made great food recommendations. They are definately people persons. We will come back.

4.8 out of 5This B & B Deserves High Marks
June 27, 2010
My wife and I traveled from Delaware for a short vacation here about a year ago. Ever since, I have put off writing this review but am compelled to do it since our memory is so positive. The Richards are gracious hosts and their home comfortable and histroically very interesting. The history lesson alone is worth the visit but the gardens around the home are so lovely and the breakfast to die for. What more could you want? Pay them a visit. You wont be sorry. JB

What a treasure! The stately home has been beautifully, lovingly restored. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The grounds are filled with flowers and birds, and a private walking path right to the ocean. The food is fresh, tasty and comforting. The hosts are interesting, genuinely friendly people. My husband and I have been in and out of many a bed & breakfast, but this one is something special. A. O'Neill
4.8 out of 5Best B & B I have ever stayed at
July 28, 2009
I planned my 10th wedding anniversary getaway on the weekend of 7/24/09 and shopped around for B & B's in Rhode Island. The Richards B & B was the most pleasant vacation experience I ever had. The proprietor was warm, friendly, and cooked some outstanding breakfasts. It was very close to the beach, to the town square and a short drive to Point Judith. The house itself was very accomodating for just relaxing if you wanted to stay in. I would highly reccomend The Richards B & B for anyone searching for a unique vacationing experience. J. Tisk

This place was extremely clean and comfortable. We stayed here on our wedding night and the night after and were very impressed. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating, and her breakfasts were delicious!
