Everything was great about the B&B - service, location, food, accomodations.....

From the moment we arrived at the Victorian Ladies we were welcomed like family. No detail was unimportant, whether it was suggestions for a place to eat, directions to the mansions or the sumptuous breakfast offered each morning. The stafff became our friends and we miss them already! Our dogs were welcome too, and the staff trusted us to behave like responsible dog owners. We are anxious to come back again to what very much seemed like a home away from home.

Just a quaint and hospitable B&B. Will definitely return.

My gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free eating husband and I (a gluten-free, vegan) loved our stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn. We stayed in Pauline, which has a lovely fireplace, and had a very relaxing evening. The owners were wonderful - very welcoming and happy to provide information about Newport and local attractions. The best part was probably the breakfast - we called ahead and they accommodated our food allergies and eating preferences. The food was wonderful and they were very conscientious about making sure everything was right for us. We'll definitely be back!

While we enjoyed our stay at the VLI and felt the rooms were clean and tastefully decorated, we felt the owner was a bit inflexible. When we booked the reservation, we were not made aware of some specials that were available for the weekend. When we brought them to Harrys attention, he was not interested in making any adjustments. It just took a little charm out of the B&B experience. His staff, however, was very nice and quite accommodating to us which helped make the weekend feel like a success.

Besides providing great amenities the staff and owners went out of their way to accommodate a number of non standard requests. From allowing our 21 month to stay with us to making special shopping run to provide a vegan breakfast the service was outstanding. We also liked that the Inn allows pets though we did not take ours with us this time.

We are discussing returning to Victorian Ladies this summer for the Newport Flower Show. The B&B is charming and the inn keepers welcoming.

Stayed Dec 26 and 27, 2012. Owner and staff (Paris by name) took an interest in what we wanted to do and made suggestions. Bought mansion tickets thru the Inn with our reservation which made our tours very easy. Breakfasts are scrumptious with just the right amount of personal attention. All in all, a great two days. We stayed in the Sophie room...very comfortable bed.

We recently stayed at The Victorian Ladies Inn and had an outstanding experience. The service was great and the staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. Breakfast was delicous as well. Great value for the price of the room and we will definitely return!

My husband and I stayed at the Victoria Ladies for my birthday (I will not share my age!). The inn is conveniently located walking distance from Cliff Walk and the gilded mansions. Our room was beautiful with an electric fireplace for warmth and atmosphere. We unfortunately missed out on the afternoon tea, but the full breakfast was delicious and the innkeeper and staff were very friendly. We took advantage of Newport restaurant week as well. This is definitely a find!

A very enjoyable weekend stay in this B&B within walking distance of downtown Newport. Clean and comfortable rooms with friendly and attentive service. Would definitely stay again.

Our room was furnished with a taste for elegance and comfort. The rain head shower and fireplace surpassed our expectations. Walking through the garden past the goldfish and coy pond and then to our room led to the quiet privancy perfect to celebrate our anniversary.

Stayed there for part of our honeymoon and loved it. Pretty house and room, good food, great people, convenient location. Would definitely stay again.

Harry and Cheryl Schatmeyer are great friendly hosts that made our 10th wedding anniversary amazing . Betty Joe is very nice and outgoing and made us feel welcomed and comfortable immediately.The Edward room is beautiful and cozy , at the end of teh property, after a small pound with fishes This was the perfect place to stay for this very special anniversary . I not only recommend it , but also will certainly come back before the 20th anniversary

Our first trip to Newport & I've picked a winner B&B. Everything you see on their website is what you get. It is friendly, immaculate, and warm. Staff is helpful. We will definitely return & stay again!

The Victorian Ladies Inn is a very nice place to spend five nights in Newport. The service is excellent, the breakfasts delicious, and the rooms spacious and comfortable. I've been in the Sophie Room, a gorgeous corner spot overlooking the koi pond. For the 100% able bodied it's close to everything in walking distance. For the somewhat hobbily, like myself, buses can be caught on Bellvue Ave that take you down to the mansions further down the island. There's tea every afternoon at the Inn which variously features home made biscuits and ice tea and sometimes hot tea. My tendency to nap in the afternoon means I haven't taken full advantage of tea, but when I did go it was lovely. An excellent home away from home for the Newport bound.

we were met at the door with chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. The breakfasts were abundant and delicious. We didn't have lunch either day we stayed! Everything was spotless, the linens and beds were wonderful and the garden was just one more bonus. Close enough to the cliff walk and mansions to just walk to them if you choose to.

Loved the location - close enough to walk to the harbor and the sights & restaurants. Cliff Walk is very close also. The accommodations were great - would definitely stay here again and hope to be back to spend a couple of days or a week in Newport.

My best friend and I have been visiting Newport for over 16 years now and have stayed at many Inn's and Hotels in the area. This was BY FAR the nicest, most comfortable and genuinely warm experience we have had. Most places just say Hi, hand you your key and point you to your room and say "have a nice stay"...but not here. We were welcomed by Cheryl and staff, who made us feel at home immedietly. We were offered a tour of the Inn, some information about the area and assistance with our bags. Breakfast was exceptional every morning (homemade and delicious) and Harry came around to each table to say hello and good morning, inquire about our plans for the day and offer suggestions. Even though we didn't join them for afternoon tea and snacks, it was there for us if we wanted....every day.... and it wasn't skimpy by the looks of it. It was a quick walk to the beach and to downtown so it was very central to both areas. Best of both worlds! (I had brought my own beach chair and towel, but was told the inn had them available as well for their guests). We were very happy to say the least and will absolutlely be staying with Cheryl and Harry again.

This is our second stay at the Victorian Ladies Bed and Breakfast and it remains a wonderful and very romantic stay in Newport RI. The welcome is always warm and personal from the wonderful staff, the rooms are impecably clean and have personal touches that are unique to each room. The breakfasts are always a reason to get out of bed and a wonderful way to start the day. Meals are tastefully set out with a great variety of healthy and nutritious cereals, fruits, breads and pastries, and juices with coffee/tea. Add to this a wonderful hot final course that light include a peach cobbler pr eggs served to your desire along with bacon or sausage. The inn has a gorgeous courtyard to enjoy breakfast outdoors when weather permits. Most impirtantly, the staff are wonderful, warm and genuine people who are there to ensure you have a wonderful and memorable stay. Harry, the proprietor, is a very warm and kind person who is always focused on meeting your needs and always has time to talk with every guest. The same is true of Cindy, who will always have a warm welcome and genuine smile come rain or shine. And then there is Maddie, the inn's Westie, who will visit every table seeking a warm and caring pat on her back and the hopes of a dropped bit of the breakfast meal (not encouraged by Harry, his owner). The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Newport and its many restaurant and waterfront as well as the famed Cliff Walk and the Easton beaches. Missing romance and some time for some peace and quiet reflection in your lives? Plan a stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn Bed and Breakfast. You won't be disappointed.

Room was nice. Chocolate on pillow was very good addition. A dark chocolate and a milk chocolate fan. Breakfast was good. Fairly conventional offerings. Breakfast burrito was tasty but would have liked some sort of New England specialty. Staff was friendly as was Harry's Dog.

Great service and clean rooms. I believe its a great place to stay. one small issue is that the roos small and their a A/C makes lots of noise.

This Inn is the finest property and the staff is the best and attentive we have incountered and the food was outstanding.Great Job!!!!!

I booked one of the last rooms at the Inn on the Friday before we checked in. We were able to check in pretty early, get a quick tour of the Inn and a rundown of Newport history and hot spots before a wonderful tea time with the fellow guests. Our time was marrred by a cab company that would not take reservations and then quoted a 15-20 min time when in reality it took 45 min for the cab to arrive causing us to miss the first half of the wedding we were attending but that had nothing to do with the B&B. At the end of the evening we were able to take a pedi-cab part of the way home from downtown Newport and walk the rest of the way. The Inn is in a wonderful location! Thankfully the next morning was BEAUTIFUL so we took the 2 course breakfast in one of their MANY gardens. The buffet breakfast had a selection of tasty breads, bagels, fruits and yogurt. The hot breakfast was a wonderful potato, zucchini, tomato and egg quiche. Coffee, tea, and juice was also provided. After breakfast we went exploring. It is amazing how much they have packed into such a small space! There are so many buildings and gardens you feel like you are on a small family compound! We were also able to park nearby after we checked out and walk to First Beach and the Cliff Walk. All in all it was a wonderful weekend! I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone planning on visiting Newport!

We enjoyed our stay at Victorian Ladies. The service, room and ammentities were great. It's in a very good location with easy access to all Newport attractions, sights and dinning.

I stayed at The Victorian Ladies this weekend for my girlfriends birthday. This place is amazing! The price is great, everyone working there is super friendly and helpful. Cindy gave us great recommendations on where to go. Harry told us which mansions were the best to see, and they were the best. The food was PHENOMENAL! Blueberry pancakes were amazing. Overall it was an amazing weekend at an amazing B&B. We will definitely be back!

We went to the Victorian Ladies on the advice of friends and they were 100% right! Harry and Cheryl were very attentive and made us feel at home. The location was perfect, the room was clean and quiet and there were many cozy nooks outside to enjoy the soothing scenery and privacy. We also loved Maddie, the sweet dog who lives there. Simply put, we plan on returning.

I reserved 3 rooms for myself, a close friend, and family member to attend my daughters wedding in Newport, the rooms, location, and service were excellent, the folks running the Inn were wonderful and overall we had a great time both at the Inn and in Newport that weekend. I look forward to returning someday soon.

Arrived shortly before our dear friends, another couple we had made plans with back in February to meet at the Victorian Ladies Inn for a five-day stay. We booked two rooms with king-size beds. My husband and I had the Pauline Room, a lovely, huge, quiet room on the second floor in the back building that led us through a stoned archway and passed the amazing koi pond each time we returned to it. We were first greeted warmly by Harry the Innkeeper and given an overview of the area. We soon learned that the rest of the staff was just as welcoming, - from the most delicious breakfasts and afternoon tea with homemade cakes, cookies and scones by Cindy and Betty Jo, assisted by a very charming young lady we called "Dee Dee"- the inn really exceeded our expectations. We felt like family! The grounds were so lovely with little alcoves with stone tables where a glass or two of wine could be shared along with conversation about all the memories already made, and those to be made in fabulous Newport. We enjoyed everything, even the weather was wonderful. Couldn't ask for a better vacation - to enjoy the perfect place to stay with great friends, to experience the large variety of restaurants and local fare, to tour beautiful mansions, to find great shopping, and to marvel at beautiful waterviews and sunsets. Our brief stay could not have been more refreshing and pleasant as the owner, Harry and innkeeper Cindy went out of their way to ensure our comfort and cater to our needs. Our room was attractive, charming, comfortable and we slept like a log. Bathrooms were a good size and spotless. Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful, and around 4pm (if you're around then), tea, lemonade, and home-made cookies and scones/pastries are laid out, which is a great energy boost if you plan on having a long night out. All in all, a wonderful place, a a little far from town center so if you're in town late and don't feel like walking all the way back, call a taxi about a half hour ahead of time and A-1 cabs will take you right to their door. Highly recommended - would go back in a New York minute!

Overall I would definitely recommend this B&B. Nice Staff. Nice Rooms. Good Location. Very short walk to Cliff Walk and Easton Beach. Short(10 min) walk to Thames St.

We stayed in the Theobold room which is a lovely large room with a big bathroom on the 1st floor of the stable house. This is our 2nd visit and it was another perfect stay, the welcome and service that you get from Harry, Betty Jo and Cindy makes you feel at home and the lovely cooked hot entrees at breakfast is wondeful and the afternoon treats are great too, especially the mini cheesecakes!! The resident dog Maddy is just such a cutie and again it enhances your stay seeing her in the morning at breakfast! Newport itself has so much to see and do and it is a very beautiful place and we will diffinately be back again very soon and will be staying at the Victorian Ladies b&b!

We stayed in the Victoria room from July 1-3rd 2012 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and very nicely decorated. No issues with water temp or pressure in the shower and the window A/C keep the room nice and cool. Breakfast was delicious and we had the option of eating in the indoor dining room or outside on the patio. Its located about 3/4 miles from Thames Street and the main downtown docks area, but the walk was nice. Walkable to the Elms mansions but easier to drive the others. We would definitely stay again at the Victorian Ladies on our next trip!

We loved The Victorian Ladies! My husband and I reserved the Victoria Room located on the bottom floor in the Carriage House. There are French Doors that lead out to a patio into the courtyard. Unfortunately, it rained that weekend, but it was warm and still nice opening the doors. The rooms were immaculate-bathrooms clean and updated. The location is perfect situated a few blocks from the Cliff Walk, First Beach, the Mansions, and Tennis Hall of Fame- easy access to the 18-mile drive. Very peaceful and quiet (although we were facing the back). I used to live in Newport years ago close to America's Cup Ave near Bowen's Wharf and I much preferred staying a little further out. It's within walking distance to Thames. Finally, our host, Harry, was very hospitable and very efficient in taking care of our tourist needs (pre-purchased Mansion tickets). He took the time to chat with us, especially around breakfast as this is included in the price. They offer a buffet of fruit, muffins, homemade granola and a special breakfast dish, omelettes one day and french toast the next--or catered to your needs. They offer high-tea around 4p, but we weren't around during that time. I think we'll stay there again :-)

Beds were a little too firm for my liking. Breakfast was average. Staff were kind of cold and almost rude at checkout. Friends stayed at la farge perry house which was awesome in every way.

The Victorian Ladies Inn was fabulous! Location was ideal and staff were friendly, helpful and gave individualized attention. I have a food allergy and their outstanding breakfast was not only delicious and healthy but a special breakfast was made for me every morning! Don't miss out on the daily 4:00 PM Tea time. Have already recommended it to friends and family! You will be delighted to stay there.

Stayed at this quaint B and B for a wedding. The room was quiet and had separate entrance that was nice in that we returned late from the wedding and did not have to walk past other guests rooms. Would definitely plan a return trip in the future.

Convenient location, nice owners, nice rooms, knowledgable staff members. Old house, thin walls, not as much privacy as I liked, but overall nice stay.

Aside from its convenient location near Cliff Walk and Bellvue mansions, TVL is a charming group of houses in a serene garden setting. The Edward Room was elegant, bright, and comfortable. Harry and Cheryl and Cindy and staff made these two gentleman travelers feel quite welcome.

We had an excellent stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn in Newport. Lovely inn, very nicely maintained. Warm and welcoming service. Would return for another visit.

We chose Victorian Ladies Inn because it had a room with 2 twin beds, and for the proximity to the Cliff Walk. The location was excellent. Many good restaurants are in walking distance. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Nice toiletries are provided. Unfortunately being on the third floor, it got a bit warm and there were no screens on the windows. The owner told us that would be fixed during the next week. We eventually just cracked the windows open and the left the door to our room open if we were awake and the other 3rd floor guests weren't around. Afternoon 'tea' is provided, which consisted of a carafe of hot water, some tea bags, some cookies and brownies. Not elaborate, but it was a welcome refresher. The breakfast includes a buffet of cold items, and one hot item is prepared and served per day. The staff is very present during breakfast, I would actually prefer a little more quiet. We did purchase our mansion tour tickets at the Inn, at a good rate.

My girlfriend and I went away this past long weekend-May 4 to May 7 2012 to just enjoy some quiet time together. The Victorian Ladies Inn was the perfect destination in a wonderful town. The Inn was very welcoming. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable and our Yorkie DesiLu was a welcome guest. The breakfasts were fresh and so much a part of setting the mood for the time away. The Victoria room was large enough for our needs and we had a deck that was off the room that we could enjoy the outdoors and yet private enough to enjoy a quiet moment. We walked into the town as well as to the seaport from the Inn within 15 to 20 minutes depending on how quickly our DesiLu would allow us to. 3 blocks from the Inn was a 7-11 so if you forgot anything or wanted a coffee etc, it was a quick walk away. Newport is a pet friendly town which is important to us. At checkout my girlfriend booked another 3 day stay over the 4th of July week because there is so much to see and experience. I plan on making the Victorian Ladies Inn an annual destination for the experience we have had so far. The Inn really set a romantic mood for love to continue to blossom. I can't wait to return.

Last minute trip to Newport proved to be an amazing trip. Clean, friendly, amazing food, pet-friendly rooms -- it was heaven!

We spent our 40th wedding anniversary at The Victorian Ladies, Everything was wonderful from the chilled champagne waiting for us to the excellent breakfast. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast to all even if you have not been married 40 years! Susan

The innkeeper, Cindy was welcoming, friendly, helpful and kind. She made us feel at home right away! The room was perfect - roomy, charming and the electric fireplace was wonderful for the chilly nights and really added a romantic vibe. Our room also had direct access to our own porch and a lovely garden with fish pond - very peaceful. We were close to town but the inn was quiet and away from it all. The breakfasts served were superb! A full buffet of choices plus a delicious hot entry - my favorite was the asparagus leek quiche! It was a great way to start a fun day in Newport. The Victorian Ladies made our first stay in Newport a pleasurable one and we will return!

This is our second stay at the Victorian Ladies. The rooms are very nicely decorated with every ammenity you could ever need. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made and served just the way you want it cooked. Harry is very friendly and aims to please his guests. The location is perfect, an easy walk to downtown, the manions, the cliff walk, the tennis museum and more. We would highly recommend The Victorian Ladies.

A charming Inn. Our first b& by experience couldn't have been better.

My fiancée and I decided to spend a last-minute weekend in Newport and booked the Victoria Room. Immediately upon arrival, Cindy helped us find our bearings and told us of numerous activities to partake in. Tea and sweet treats in the afternoon were a pleasant surprise, especially after spending the day in the cold. Our room was charming and cozy. The electric fireplace didn't pump out much heat, but we were comfortable nevertheless. We brought back some cheeses and bread and, when we asked Cindy for a knife, she handed us a cheese board and an assortment of cheese knives. (It is the little things like this that make me happy.) Breakfast was delicious! There was an assortment of fruits, pastries, juices, and homemade granola with yogurt. Our hot dish was spinach quiche with bacon, and it was outstanding. Harry was in attendance at breakfast and was a delight to speak to; he also kept out coffee mugs full, which is always a pleasantry. All in all, our spur of the moment getaway was perfect and The Victorian Ladies played a monumental role. We will definitely be back!

From the warm welcome to the beautifuly, clean room and fantastic breakfast...this bed and breakfast provided us the perfect, romantic getaway. Harry, the innkeeper, was so gracious and helpful. It could not have been any better than it was.

We were first greeted with a warm welcome and some pointers of places we should see. Our room was beautiful and quiet. And breakfast, consisting of crab cakes with mango salsa and scrambled eggs, was delicious. Our visit was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks again for the warm hospitality!

If you plan on visiting Newport R.I. for an overnight or longer,you must check out the Victorian Ladies. The rooms here put you right back in the "Gilded Age" of the Newport mansions We have stayed here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and very helpful if you have questions about the area. Their location puts everyting in walking distance because parking can be a little hard to find sometimes if you drive the short distance to downtown. Give the Victorian Ladies a try. We had a great time at the Victorian Ladies. It's a very cute establishment with many different touches to make the stay special. The breakfast was great, and I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet, unique place to stay in Newport. Much more special than the Marriotts and Hyatt, with a much more reasonable price point.

The Victorian Ladies Inn was what I was looking for in a B&B. It was lovely and in a perfect location to walk to the beach, mansions, and town. Can't wait to go back!

We were in the Sophie room, small but very nice. Our only negative is that the internet connection was virtually non existent. As well we did not have a telephone in the room. The staff were very friendly and we would like to thank Cindy for recommending the Cavendish Inn for dinner, wonderful time there. The location was very good as well and the breakfast was quite tasty.

We booked two lovely rooms at this charming Inn for just one night's stay in Newport. Not long enough, though it was in a heatwave and our room, the Caroline was very warm, no air con, just a fan. Beware the Cliff Walk, which deteriorates dramatically fom a proper pathway to a rocky outcrop beyond the Breakers Mansion, and there is no escape once you are on it. Leave the walk at the Breakers and turn down Belle Vue Avene to see all the mansions in their glory. Linda and John Hunter

My wife and I enjoyed our 2 nights at the Inn, the room was clean and quiet. We were able to walk to the mansions, as well as the dining and shoping area. We highly recommend the Inn.

We stayed in Newport for 2 nights and were delighted with the Victorian Ladies Inn. It was a short walk to the shops and waterfront. Our room was lovely and fairly spacious. All the staff at the inn were delightful and very helpful.

We have stayed at this facility on several visits to Newport. The welcome, friendly atmosphere, is great. The rooms are always spotless and the food is excellent.

We enjoyed our stay in Newport at The Victorian Ladies very much. It was ideally located for all that we wanted to do and the rooms and decor were lovely.

This was an adequate B&B but nothing to write home about. Room was small and reasonably comfortable. Public area was small and not conducive to spending any time there. Breakfast was good. Fulfilled our needs but wouldn't return.

Victorian Ladies was a nice place to spend a few nights celebrating our wedding anniversary. Very convienient to the beach, mansions and downtown even though it is definitely better to drive than walk in my opinion. The cliff walk was fantastic. The room was clean but would of liked to have the option to use the fireplace which was turned off at the time. Very nice place. Would consider going back in the future.

My husband and I were quite impressed with The Victorian Ladies as this was our first time staying at a B & B. Although we enjoyed all aspects of our stay the staff was truly outstanding in that they were very friendly and helpful.

The staff was incredibly helpful, taking nearly a half hour when we checked in to talk about the area, walk us through a map, show us around the B&B, and offering recomendations. Rooms were cozy, clean, and had everything you needed, but a bit small. The location was very good - just off the main road and a close walk to the cliff walk. The breakfast was excellent.

We stayed two nights and had our wedding ceremony in the beautiful garden and it was amazing. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one. Everything was perfect and the breakfast everyday was outstanding. We would definitely love to return again.

We stayed at the Victorian Ladies for two nights during a recent tour through some of New England. It was beautiful, extremely well run and organized, our room and bath were wonderful, the breakfasts were excellent! We will visit again someday! The owner, inn keeper and other employees were very friendly and available. I would heartily reccomend this B&B to anyone!

What a fabulous place. Fantastic room and incredible breakfast. This place is located right in the heart of Newport with easy access to the mansions, the wharf, and all the shopping. Cheryl and Harry bent over backwards to be sure we had a nice stay. Yes it is on the pricy side of things but well worth it. You won't be disappointed.

Our recent 5 night stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn exceeded our expectations. The Inn and rooms are beautifully decorated, comfortable and extremely well kept. We stayed in the Carriage House (Leopold room). The room was very large with a king size bed and large en suite bathroom. Breakfast was amazing! Home made granola, cereals, fresh bowls of seasonal cut up fruit, breads, yogurt etc. Just when you thought that was enough...out comes the hot breakfast. Stuffed french toast with sausage. We had a different hot breakfast each day. Location is perfect...6 min walk to the beginning of the Cliff Walk and an easy 10 min walk to downtown. We loved our stay so much that we have reservations for next year. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed. Excellent value for your money!

Our recent stay in the Aurthur room was great. The B&B is very close to the Cliff walk (2 blocks) and to the Waterfront (10 minute walk). People at this B&B were very friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea and cookies were great since we had just arrived. Breakfast was outstanding as all other reviews indicated.

Stayed for a few nights in July 2011 in Augusta room on 3rd floor of main house. Rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and quiet, super comfy. I found the staff to be exceptional. Warm, friendlt and really went above and beyond to make my stay fabulous. The inn is a few blocks from the beach and cliff walk, making it convenient to eberything and a bit longer but easy walk ino towm. I am looking for reasons to return

The Victorian Ladies is a very lovely B&B. The Harry, the Innkeeper was very sweet as was Cindy, The room (Pauline) was comfortable, quiet and very nice. The food was fantastic.

My girlfriend and I only stayed for one night, but man we wished we stayed for more! We stayed in the Caroline room, on the third floor, and were shocked at the size of both the bedroom and bathroom. Very romantic, tucked away in the back. The innkeepers were also very kind, and catered to our needs. Breakfast was also exceptional. Oh and did I mention the beauty of off street parking? :) Would definately reccomend the Victorian Ladies Inn.

Lovely B&B at a great price in Newport with a delightful host and good food. A B&B is the only way to go in this town . . . and this is a terrific option. The only downside of this establishment is its location--which although convenient is right on the main drag, resulting in substantial traffic noise if you are in the main house on the street (they have several structures, so this may not be the case with the carriage house, for example, which is set back further from the street). The gardens that surround the houses are fabulous: a real bonus! Wonderful experience.

My Husband and I stayed in the Augusta Room for a night at the end of a week-long vacation as a way to end with a little luxury after staying in a bargain hotel. The Inn and the room were just what we wanted -- clean, charming and full of New England character. I would definitely recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again.

Compared to the reasonable price, Victorian Ladies had everything more than I've expected. The room I stayed was very comfortable and far far off from those boring hotel rooms. I would definitely go back here for a visit next time!!

Our stay couldn't be nicer. Cheryl and Harry were very hospitable and friendly. Cindy and Betty Joe were very helpful, friendly, and efficient. We parked our car for the weekend and walked everywhere, even to a wedding on the beach. Location is excellent. We certainly would go back again. Highly recommended.

We have stayed in Newport on many occasions. However, no other stay can compare to our weekend at The Victorian Ladies Inn. Every aspect of this stay far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Pauline Room which was in the third house on the property. It was secluded and romantic and very well furnished with its canopied, king sized bed. Breakfast was included and was spectacular. The spinach quiche was to die for! There was even an afternoon tea. Harry, Cheryl, Cindy, Betty Jo and Maddie (the resident Westie pooch) made our stay one to remember. We have finally found our treasured little hideaway, and we will definitely be coming back!

Our overall stay was a very pleasant experience. I would return again for another visit. The room was very pleasant and clean. I would recommend this Inn to my friends.

My best friend and I had a lovely stay here. It is very close to the Cliff Walk, the mansions and an easy walk to the harbor. Free onsite parking made it very convenient. Quiet! Great food. Nice people, but not intrusive. We will be back.

What a delightful stay from start to finish. The accommodations are top flight and the hosts and staff are outstanding as well. We felt very welcomed and wish we could have extended our stay! Hope to get back there some day.

I love staying at the Victorian Ladies Inn. It is my favorite B&B and I will continue to come back whenever possible. It is absolutely lovely.

The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. I was horrified by the 13% state and city tax which jacked up the bill and unfortunately the person in the room above us walked around in hard soled shoes at very early hours in the morning. But the inn was well located and had lovely outdoor sitting space

We stayed for just a weekend, but the service was absolutely amazing, the food was fabulous, and the owner was phenomenal!!! We will definitely be back, and will be taking our dogs with us. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

My husband and I traveled to Newport for the first time for graduation events at the Naval War College. We can't wait for our next visit! Our stay at TVL made the experience that much better, and we would definitely return to this B&B. The location was ideal; we had a comfortable walk to the beaches, Cliff Walk and mansions, and the downtown restaurants and shops. It was a perfect walk after some nice meals by the waterfront. Even when we drove, parking at the TVL was convenient. During check-in, we had a nice welcome and were given more than enough info to make the most of our 3 days. Breakfast was wonderful and definitely made up for a lackluster dinner reception we had one night. The hot dishes we had did not live up to some of the reviews, but they did not include the breakfast lasagna, were fine, and offset by the other yummy options. The baked goods (crumb cake, zucchini cake, banana cake) in particular were absolutely delicious! The afternoon tea likewise offered tastey treats. We stayed in the Sophie room which is in the carriage house. It was nice to walk through the gardens and upstairs to a charming room. My husband loved the perfectly firm and comfortable bed and slept well. The only slight issue with the room was that it was warm and humid when we got there, and the a/c was extremely loud (of course, that is to be expected from window units). We were the first guests to check-in for rooms in the carriage house and were forewarned, but it would have been nice to have the air already turned on in the carriage house prior to our arrival so the entry and room was comfortable when we arrived around 4. Just a suggestion as the room temperature was not terribly uncomfortable when we entered and remedied after we turned on the a/c unit and returned from getting some dinner. The photos on the website give a good feel for the B&B. I happily recommend a stay here.

We only spent one night there but had a wonderful time. Everything was great! We slept well, the morning breakfast was really yummy and the hosts are very nice.

The good points speak for themselves and there were many! However, I was disatisfied with the service. We were greeted by the innkeeper, not the owners who had time off, who was a bit flippant in her attitude toward us. As she was going over information on the area, another member of the staff kept interupting and speaking to her. As the guest, I felt devalued and unappreciated. The owner came into the room and never said "hello" to us or introduced herself. When we returned to our room in the afternoon our room was not made up and a member of the staff came to our room to ask if we wanted clean towels. My husband said Yes and told the person to leave the towels on the bed. He said he needed the other towels and proceeded to go to our bathroom to get the other towels. This wasn't the BnB experience that I was looking for.

We just spent two nights at the Victorian Ladies and we loved everything about it. My husband usually does not like B&B's , but even he kept complimenting everything. The location is excellent and we will probably go back sometime in the future since there is so much to see in Newport.

We stayed here for a night and felt every corner was just home! Perfect get away! Relaxing and fantastic meal and tea!

Great room and great service ... what more can you ask for?

You will find neither a more convenient location, more gracious hostesses, nor better home-baked goods anywhere on the island than at The Victorian Ladies. This is a real find! Conveniently located within a few short minutes' walk between the Cliff Walk and downtown waterfront restaurants, we were attracted to it first because of their pet policy (they have 3 rooms that can be reserved for dogs) but we will return soon to enjoy the ambiance and hospitality, which is second to none.

The Victorian Ladies Inn of Newport is very nice and is located within (healthy) walking distance to downtown, close to Cliff Walk/Beaches. The Inn Keepr is very pleasant and knowledgable. She also prepared a very nice breakfast. The Pauline room is where we stayed and it is in excellent condition. Every bit of what it is advertised to be.

We stayed in the Pauline Room and found much more than we ever anticipated. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room spotlessly clean, the food excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we booked a second stay as we were checking out.

The Victorian Ladies was listed having great reviews from others and I have to say I was not disappointed. There was the hominess of a B&B but the feel of an inn. We arrived and had off street parking available, a plus for someone who lives in the country and never understands city parking schedules. The building and grounds were very nicely taken care of, but the best part of the experience is the personal attention from the people managing the VL! From the minute we arrived their interest seemed to be in making our stay everything we needed. We were pleasantly greeted, given information about Newport where to eat, a map with explaination of what to see, etc. The room was lovely, however, being on the third floor and heat rising, I had to open a window in the night as it was too warm. Breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit, yogurts, sweet breads and best of all, a breakfast lasagna with noodles, different cheeses egg and sausage. Off season price for this experience was such a deal!!!

...is the key word that comes to my mind. I am from the City, and felt that we were in our own little world. I went there with my girl for our one year anniversary, and it was well spent. There are plenty of resturaunts, bars, and shopping in the area. I got my Tarrot Cards read and was also very happy with the outcome of that as well. We walked to almost everything, then took a drive to the beach to just enjoy the view and eachother company. I recommend this place to anyone one, single, couple, married, or that just wants to get away from interruption, stress, noise, pollution etc... Before I sign off, there is one thing I wish to add... "The Breakfast Lasagna." This was made by one of the owner's, Harry and is just what it sounds like, although I will not tell you whats in it. Put it this way, it was so good, I asked for the receipe, he gave it to me happily and I will be making it this weekend. So, I reccomend this place without hesitation. We stayed in the Alfred Room, with a great window view of the main street and easily accessable to the entire house. Good times! Peace

My girlfriend and I were very happy to have spent our first Valentine’s Day weekend as a couple together in such a lovely place. Harry and Cheryl (the inn keepers) were very informative and suggested great activities to do in the area. The room was very nice and had everything you needed to just getaway for a weekend. The food in the morning always hit the spot and was presented very well. The inn is in a great location being only a minute or two away from downtown. The only drawback and I mean ONLY was the parking. You were still able to park they were just tight spots. Come on if that’s the worst thing about this place you know you are in for a great stay. Strongly suggest booking this Inn if you want a great easy going weekend getaway… Who doesn’t? Thank you for making our stay a memorable one!!

The Inn was very pleasant, and the room comfortable, but best of all was the helpfulness of the staff. Cindy was attentive in asking how we liked our morning coffee and always had a pot of decaf ready for us. The breakfasts were delicious, as was afternoon tea. Cindy was also very helpful in giving us directions and making dinner reservations for us.

This is a gem of a place. Beautiful property near most attractions in Newport. Also, within walking distance from some great restaurants. Everyone, from the owners to the innkeeper, was amazing. It felt like we were staying with family members. We are already planning our next trip to Newport and will be going back to The Victorian Ladies Inn.

My husband and I just wanted to escape for one night and found this Inn online. Our greeting was pleasant and the room was warm, clean, and cozy. We met some very nice couples while there. Breakfast was standard B&B fare. The Inn is located closely to the mansions, beaches, and shops. We would recommend the Victorian Ladies Inn to others.

We stayed in Pauline room for 2 nights and the place is Excellent! The manager and owner are very nice and accomodating. The breakfast on both days were out of this world. Great selection of homemade breads and cakes, bagels, and a hot homemade breakfast. Location is very nice being close to everything. Room was very clean and well kept. Nice fireplace and the bathroom was immaculate. We plan on going back in the warmer weather we like it so much. Great times and great place!

This was our second time at The Victorian Ladies Inn and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The owners are so hospitable and remember all thier guests. Location is outstanding and they accept pets which is a huge plus for us - we love to travel with our dog. We will absolutley stay here again when we visit Newport this Spring and Summer.

Our pre-Christmas holiday in New Port experienced a frigidly cold air, but Victorian Ladies made us feel warm. Once checked in, we never wanted to go anywhere.

We were not able to go on a week vacation. So we tried to get in as much as possibilities. Our expectations were not only met, but went above and beyond.

What a cozy place to stay! Our room was so warm and inviting and the bed was heavenly! The owners were more than friendly and very helpful in reccommending places to eat and visit. The grounds were quite charming and we were only sorry that it was too cold to sit outside in the courtyard by the fountain. The breakfast was amazing and very accomodating to every taste! Very pleasant and relaxing stay...we'll be back!

I have never stayed at a B&B before, so my husband and I decided to try out the Victorian Ladies B&B for our 5 year Wedding Anniversary. I chose this B&B because of the reviews online. We loved out stay!! It is so cute and makes you feel like you are home. We only stayed 1 night, but wished we had stayed longer. We will definately stay there again!!

Very nice B&B. Good location. Innkeeper Cindy was especially helpful in directing us to different venues - and offering discount certificates as well! My only disappointments were the squeaky floor in the room above ours (we were in Alfred, 2nd floor of 3), and the fireplace didn't put out any heat. Other than those minor inconveniences, I recommend this facility

My wife and I spent two day at this lovely B&B. If I compare it to others we have stayed at, I must admit that I was a little disappointed in the breakfast. Although there was a nice assortment of cake, fruit, cereal, yogurt, and things to toast, we were also suppose to have a hot entree and there is where I feel they fell a little short. The first morning the entree was an Apple Crisp, although very good, to me more of a desert than a breakfast. The second morning they served banana pancakes, which were nice but they gave us two small pancakes on a plate, no bacon, sausage, or eggs as protein to go along with it. One lady said that she was not interested in the pancakes, and that she would rather have something like bacon and eggs. She was offered eggs which she received. I hate asking for things that are not being served, maybe I should have. The rest of the place was no better that other places we have stayed at so I can't give it an exceeds in anything.

Had a wonderful stay this past weekend. Checked in and had tea and homemade cookies with some of the other guests. Met the very friendly owners and their dog. The room was spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. I awakend to the delicious aroma of the breakfast and just couldnt wait to get down to the dining room! An awesome sunday 2 course breakfast - totally unprecedented!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We have stayed her two times now. Both time the inkeepers were very friendly and helpful. They also make an unbelievable "main" course breakfast dish along with the typicall breakfast buffet. Nice touch!

The Victorian Ladies Inn is conveniently located near the Cliff Walk, restaurants, and Newport attractions. We stayed in the Sophie room and it was cozy. Could hear some road noise before falling asleep, but did not prevent us from getting to sleep. This was our first of four bed and breakfast's on our tour of New England. My husband and I decided The Victorian Ladies Inn had the best breakfast. They have a buffet of fresh fruit, pastries, and cereal. That is followed by a hot dish. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Inn if you are traveling to Newport, RI.

The Victorian Ladies Inn was absolutely fantastic. We stayed in the Arthur Room. An amazingly big room with a tremendous side room with TV. Large bathroom with great shower. Breakfast was an great two course meal of pastries followed by a hot egg dish. I would definitely stay here again!

We managed to get a last minute reservation and despite a long drive from Manhattan we had absolutely no regrets. We had one of the smaller rooms but it was plenty big enough for us, Victorian decor, a very comfortable bed (top priority), nice sized bathroom with shower and tub. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, homebaked pastries, cereals and yoghurt and a cooked breakfast option which was delicious. Location very central but also very peaceful; just a short walk to the nearest beach, the infamous Cliff walk and the town centre. Lovely!

We stayed in the Victoria room which was in the rear carriage house. It was very private and had french doors out of a little cafe table overlooking a koi pond. the bed was very comfortable and there was a gas fireplace for ambience. The B&B was very close to the entrance of the cliff walk and 1st beach.

We spent 2 nights at Victorian Ladies Inn. Our room was cozy and very homely. Our experience was great. The inn keepers were really helpful. They helped us set up discounted sunset sailboat ride, mansions, and wine tours. The inn is 5 minute walk from Cliff Walk. About 10 minute walk to busy streets/center of town in Newport. Victorian Ladies is great place to be if you are visiting Newport!
