I highly recommend Victorian Ladies -- rooms, service, value, cleanliness and dining was excellent. Already planning on returning in the spring time.

My wife and I are a returning couple to this wonderful and romantic inn in historic Newport, RI. We are always assured of a warm welcome, a tastefully decorated and immaculately clean room, followed by a peaceful rest and lovely breakfast that is comprised of healthy buffet food items complemented by a served-to-order warm breakfast item. The Victoria Ladies Inn is so well situated within walking distance of all major attractions in Newport and promises every guest a memorable stay. Ed and Myra

My wife and I stayed here Veteran's Day weekend 2013. A charming Inn with an excellent location and reasonably priced. Very tastefully decorated decor. The rooms and baths were bigger than I expected. Excellent breakfast.
5 on November 11, 2013
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home. Everything we needed to know was explained to us in detail. Location is wonderful to walk along the cliff walk and see some of the mansions. Fortunately we had taken note from the hotel description that luggage would need to be carried upstairs and had packed lightly for the one night stay or we would have trouble with our larger suitcases. My daughter and I travelled for one month around USA and didn't see another breakfast that came close to this one!

This is a nice B&B near the ocean in Newport, RI. The breakfast was good and the rooms were fine. The televisions in the room are very small and therefore hard to see. I would recommend an upstairs room as we were on the first floor and could hear the people above us.
5 on October 21, 2013
regular customers here, we tried other B & B's and were only disappointed. Here, they make you feel like family. very comfortable house and rooms. tea and snacks available afternoon, but were still out after 6pm. Walking distance to all attractions yet far enough for some quiet.

I had a very pleasant experience staying at the Victorian Ladies Inn. Cindy was so intuned to each's guest's experience. It was delightful.

We enjoyed our stay at Victorian Ladies. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and comfortable the Inn was. The innkeeper was very accomodating and helpful with ideas and directions to the Cliff Walk, Mansions, restaurants and the Wharf area. I recommend Victorian Ladies and we will definitely return on our next trip to Newport.

Loved being able to walk to the cliff walk. Tasty breakfast. Nice staff. Good deal on mansion tickets.

Myself and a friend recently stayed at this Inn and loved it there. Our room was beautifaully decorated, spotlessly clean and large for an older building. The welcome and the afternoon tea service were also very nicely done and the garden was delightful but the real highlight was the breakfast which was one of the best I have ever experienced. The location was good too - an easy walk for dinner and other tourist needs. i would heartily recommend this inn for anyone's visit.I

We stayed for four nights at the Victorian Ladies. It is in an excellent location to access Newport sites. The rooms are lovely. The breakfast has a buffet for fruit, home-baked goods, etc. as well as a hot entry, (Plus if you just want some scrambled eggs they make it to order.) Apart from being delicious, it also a lot of flexibility for various tastes and needs in the a.m. The property itself has a number of shaded seating areas amongst the three buildings. It was an excellent choice for my wife and me.

My husband and I were given a gift certificate for an overnite stay. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was cozy and comfortable and the morning staff were very friendly, not to mention the breakfast was very good especially the home made muffins. The Schatmeyer's have a lovely establishment and we look forward to our next visit.

Our room was very nice. We were disappointed with the air conditioner. It advertised as having it in all rooms yet we had no control over it. It was very warm in our room. We had to open our window at night because it was cooler outside but it was on a noisy street. Breakfast buffet was very good.

Just wonderful. Great amenities, wonderful food, fabulous Innkeeper, cook and owner.

Louise is a pleasant room but not ideal for elderly guests. The bed is the highest off the ground I have ever seen (at least three feet) and while the room is advertised as being on the ground floor it actually requires a half flight of steps to reach it. The innkeepers were helpful and tried to accommodate our needs, but the arrangements were still a challenge for my mother. I suggest asking careful questions before booking if you have any mobility issues. Otherwise a pleasant place to stay, convenient to the museums and cliff walk.
4.2 on August 26, 2013
This place is an easy walk to the beach and beginning of Cliff walk. Great food at breakfast. Friendly staff. I stayed here one night just to have a little rest and relaxation, and it turned out to be a good place to get away for a night.

Thank you for such a nice little romantic getaway! Our room was gorgeous!! We will definitely be back again soon!

My time here was excellent! We stayed in the Edward room, which was incredibly charming, came with many amenities (TV, fireplace (!), mini fridge, wine opener/glasses, toiletries, etc) and had a lot of privacy-it was on the second floor of the carriage house (vs the main house), which was accessed via their beautiful garden/lounge area and koi pond. Despite being next door to another room, any adjacent noise was nonexistant. The owners/staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts provided each morning were extensive (buffet of pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt and juice, and a daily hot entree) and delicious! The inn is about a mile (or less) walk from everything in Newport, but it was far enough away from the hustle and crowds of downtown to provide some peace and quiet. A gem-I will definitely recommend this inn to anyone planning a stay in Newport!

Highly recommend, great location and the very friendly staff. Great breakfast every morning and cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. Room was very clean, would definitely go back.

We have stayed here several times and have always had a wonderful time. Harry and Cheryl are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and they have a talent for hiring the nicest employees. Have a yummy breakfast inside or out on the patio...fresh fruit, yougurt, granola, and always a great hot surprise. My favorite this trip was strawberry and cream stuffed French toast drizzle with bluberry topping!!! The location is the best...walk to the beach or walk down to the wharf for shopping and dinner. We've been here in the summer and the winter and always have a great time! Pat and Ken

We were graciously welcomed by an extremely pleasant lady whose name escapes me (not one of the owners) Our room was an outside entrance up a flight of stairs. It would have been difficult to manage the stairs with our bags, but thank God not for her. She made a fabulous breakfast and even made us copies of some of our favorites. An exceptional B&B

I had a lovely three days at the Victorian Ladies Inn. The breakfasts were scrumptious, my room was comfortable, and the staff was consistently pleasant and helpful. The location close to the Cliff Walk and the mansions was particularly pleasant--I like walking, and I found that everything I wanted to see was in comfortable walking distance.
5 on July 18, 2013
Just spent the most amazing three days at the Inn and have to say it was everything we had hoped for, and more. The room was amazing, clean, well appointed and "cool" given the heat wave this week! Can't get a better location and the folks catering to your every need, Cyndi and team, were amazing. We're already in process of booking again next year!

Amazing property located close to Cliff Walk within walking distance to waterfront... stunning grounds with fountains, koi pond, etc. Very relaxing. We were there with our small dog and noticed other guests had pets also... amazingly, we didn't even remember other dogs were onsite... no extra noise or mess. The innkeepers are so kind and friendly... and the homemade breakfast (more than just continental) was so delicious. Made to feel like we were family... definitely going back!

Comfortable, nicely decorated inn and rooms, with quaint outdoor areas including a koi pond, fountain, plants and shaded seating to allow you to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Afternoon iced tea and cookies welcomed us upon check-in, and air conditioner had been turned on in our room prior to our arrival. Proprietors are lovely people and had many helpful recommendations for us during our stay in Newport. The Victorian Ladies Inn is in a great location -- close to everything -- but when you're at the inn you definitely feel like you're a bit removed from the hubbub of the summer crowds, which is wonderful! The building and furnishings are well-established and quite nice, but I did have the impression that some updating was due. It is busy season, however, and I suspect that Harry and Cheryl have a running to-do list for the off season. A nice stay in all.

Couldn't ask for more. Harry & Cindy are the best.,
5 on June 27, 2013
This is our 3rd visit to the B&B, and we enjoy staying here because the staff are just wonderful, both Cindy and Harry and the team make you feel at home. It is always hard to leave after your stay there. There is also a wonderful dog there named Maddy, she is a lovely friendly dog. The breakfast is wonderful and the hot entrees and always tasty. The rooms are well decorated and cleaned to a high standard. The B&B is near the beach, cliffwalk, the mansions and just a 10minute walk to the harbour, and there is lots of good restaurants within walking distance, I can't wait to return there again!
5 on June 21, 2013
I stayed there last weekend and hated to leave! Harry, Cindy, and the staff are very gracious and welcoming. The B&B is very clean and the breakfast was delicious. I will be sure to book a room there again, next time I visit Newport.
4.4 on June 20, 2013
The location was perfect! We could walk to the Cliff Walk and to the waterfront. Parking is a real problem in Newport, so having free parking at the Inn was great. The breakfast was out of this world. Fresh pastries and fruit with a hot entree. Homemade cookies with the afternoon tea. Such a delight! Very quiet area of the city, so uninterupted sleep. A lovely inn that I would highly recommend.
4.2 on June 06, 2013
This charming inn has beautiful Victorian style décor inside and several lovely garden courtyards outside. The staff is friendly and helpful and offered suggestions for sightseeing and dining options. Special care was taken to offer an alternate allergy friendly breakfast for one traveler with food restrictions. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed with everything we needed. Another plus is the location - only three blocks from the Cliff Walk and Easton's Beach in one direction and three blocks to Bellevue Avenue and the Newport mansions the other way.

A wonderful location for seeing the Mansions of Newport. Harry & Cindy made us feel welcomed and were excellent hosts of this beautiful B & B. Note that the stairs are quite steep.
4.8 on May 30, 2013
Warm and inviting historic B&B. Room (Sophie) and bath are large and furnished with many antique touches. Very comfortable bed. Extremely clean. Pleasant and relaxing outdoor space, but it is smaller than expected from photos. Located away from the shops and restaurants, 6 blocks from Thames St. Easy, 10-15 minute downhill stroll there, but uphill on the return. Sufficient on site parking. Be aware that some rooms are upstairs and you have to carry a bag up a narrow staircase.

This was our third stay at the very charming VLI and we celebrated our anniversary . We stayed in the very romantic Pauline room which was equiped with a gas fireplace to add that special ambiance. The inn keepers prepared and served us the most delicious breakfasts in the very quaint dining room each morning. The VLI is walking distance from the Cliff Walk and Bellevue Ave which is a nice plus.
5 on April 02, 2013
From the moment we arrived at the Victorian Ladies we were welcomed like family. No detail was unimportant, whether it was suggestions for a place to eat, directions to the mansions or the sumptuous breakfast offered each morning. The stafff became our friends and we miss them already! Our dogs were welcome too, and the staff trusted us to behave like responsible dog owners. We are anxious to come back again to what very much seemed like a home away from home.

My gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free eating husband and I (a gluten-free, vegan) loved our stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn. We stayed in Pauline, which has a lovely fireplace, and had a very relaxing evening. The owners were wonderful - very welcoming and happy to provide information about Newport and local attractions. The best part was probably the breakfast - we called ahead and they accommodated our food allergies and eating preferences. The food was wonderful and they were very conscientious about making sure everything was right for us. We'll definitely be back!
4.0 on March 13, 2013
While we enjoyed our stay at the VLI and felt the rooms were clean and tastefully decorated, we felt the owner was a bit inflexible. When we booked the reservation, we were not made aware of some specials that were available for the weekend. When we brought them to Harrys attention, he was not interested in making any adjustments. It just took a little charm out of the B&B experience. His staff, however, was very nice and quite accommodating to us which helped make the weekend feel like a success.
4.2 on February 19, 2013
Besides providing great amenities the staff and owners went out of their way to accommodate a number of non standard requests. From allowing our 21 month to stay with us to making special shopping run to provide a vegan breakfast the service was outstanding. We also liked that the Inn allows pets though we did not take ours with us this time.

We are discussing returning to Victorian Ladies this summer for the Newport Flower Show. The B&B is charming and the inn keepers welcoming.

Stayed Dec 26 and 27, 2012. Owner and staff (Paris by name) took an interest in what we wanted to do and made suggestions. Bought mansion tickets thru the Inn with our reservation which made our tours very easy. Breakfasts are scrumptious with just the right amount of personal attention. All in all, a great two days. We stayed in the Sophie room...very comfortable bed.

My husband and I stayed at the Victoria Ladies for my birthday (I will not share my age!). The inn is conveniently located walking distance from Cliff Walk and the gilded mansions. Our room was beautiful with an electric fireplace for warmth and atmosphere. We unfortunately missed out on the afternoon tea, but the full breakfast was delicious and the innkeeper and staff were very friendly. We took advantage of Newport restaurant week as well. This is definitely a find!

The Victorian Ladies Inn is a very nice place to spend five nights in Newport. The service is excellent, the breakfasts delicious, and the rooms spacious and comfortable. I've been in the Sophie Room, a gorgeous corner spot overlooking the koi pond. For the 100% able bodied it's close to everything in walking distance. For the somewhat hobbily, like myself, buses can be caught on Bellvue Ave that take you down to the mansions further down the island. There's tea every afternoon at the Inn which variously features home made biscuits and ice tea and sometimes hot tea. My tendency to nap in the afternoon means I haven't taken full advantage of tea, but when I did go it was lovely. An excellent home away from home for the Newport bound.
4.6 on September 18, 2012
we were met at the door with chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. The breakfasts were abundant and delicious. We didn't have lunch either day we stayed! Everything was spotless, the linens and beds were wonderful and the garden was just one more bonus. Close enough to the cliff walk and mansions to just walk to them if you choose to.

My best friend and I have been visiting Newport for over 16 years now and have stayed at many Inn's and Hotels in the area. This was BY FAR the nicest, most comfortable and genuinely warm experience we have had. Most places just say Hi, hand you your key and point you to your room and say "have a nice stay"...but not here. We were welcomed by Cheryl and staff, who made us feel at home immedietly. We were offered a tour of the Inn, some information about the area and assistance with our bags. Breakfast was exceptional every morning (homemade and delicious) and Harry came around to each table to say hello and good morning, inquire about our plans for the day and offer suggestions. Even though we didn't join them for afternoon tea and snacks, it was there for us if we wanted....every day.... and it wasn't skimpy by the looks of it. It was a quick walk to the beach and to downtown so it was very central to both areas. Best of both worlds! (I had brought my own beach chair and towel, but was told the inn had them available as well for their guests). We were very happy to say the least and will absolutlely be staying with Cheryl and Harry again.

This is our second stay at the Victorian Ladies Bed and Breakfast and it remains a wonderful and very romantic stay in Newport RI. The welcome is always warm and personal from the wonderful staff, the rooms are impecably clean and have personal touches that are unique to each room. The breakfasts are always a reason to get out of bed and a wonderful way to start the day. Meals are tastefully set out with a great variety of healthy and nutritious cereals, fruits, breads and pastries, and juices with coffee/tea. Add to this a wonderful hot final course that light include a peach cobbler pr eggs served to your desire along with bacon or sausage. The inn has a gorgeous courtyard to enjoy breakfast outdoors when weather permits. Most impirtantly, the staff are wonderful, warm and genuine people who are there to ensure you have a wonderful and memorable stay. Harry, the proprietor, is a very warm and kind person who is always focused on meeting your needs and always has time to talk with every guest. The same is true of Cindy, who will always have a warm welcome and genuine smile come rain or shine. And then there is Maddie, the inn's Westie, who will visit every table seeking a warm and caring pat on her back and the hopes of a dropped bit of the breakfast meal (not encouraged by Harry, his owner). The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Newport and its many restaurant and waterfront as well as the famed Cliff Walk and the Easton beaches. Missing romance and some time for some peace and quiet reflection in your lives? Plan a stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn Bed and Breakfast. You won't be disappointed.

I booked one of the last rooms at the Inn on the Friday before we checked in. We were able to check in pretty early, get a quick tour of the Inn and a rundown of Newport history and hot spots before a wonderful tea time with the fellow guests. Our time was marrred by a cab company that would not take reservations and then quoted a 15-20 min time when in reality it took 45 min for the cab to arrive causing us to miss the first half of the wedding we were attending but that had nothing to do with the B&B. At the end of the evening we were able to take a pedi-cab part of the way home from downtown Newport and walk the rest of the way. The Inn is in a wonderful location! Thankfully the next morning was BEAUTIFUL so we took the 2 course breakfast in one of their MANY gardens. The buffet breakfast had a selection of tasty breads, bagels, fruits and yogurt. The hot breakfast was a wonderful potato, zucchini, tomato and egg quiche. Coffee, tea, and juice was also provided. After breakfast we went exploring. It is amazing how much they have packed into such a small space! There are so many buildings and gardens you feel like you are on a small family compound! We were also able to park nearby after we checked out and walk to First Beach and the Cliff Walk. All in all it was a wonderful weekend! I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone planning on visiting Newport!

I stayed at The Victorian Ladies this weekend for my girlfriends birthday. This place is amazing! The price is great, everyone working there is super friendly and helpful. Cindy gave us great recommendations on where to go. Harry told us which mansions were the best to see, and they were the best. The food was PHENOMENAL! Blueberry pancakes were amazing. Overall it was an amazing weekend at an amazing B&B. We will definitely be back!

Simply put, we plan on returning.

I look forward to returning someday soon.

Arrived shortly before our dear friends, another couple we had made plans with back in February to meet at the Victorian Ladies Inn for a five-day stay. We booked two rooms with king-size beds. My husband and I had the Pauline Room, a lovely, huge, quiet room on the second floor in the back building that led us through a stoned archway and passed the amazing koi pond each time we returned to it. We were first greeted warmly by Harry the Innkeeper and given an overview of the area. We soon learned that the rest of the staff was just as welcoming, - from the most delicious breakfasts and afternoon tea with homemade cakes, cookies and scones by Cindy and Betty Jo, assisted by a very charming young lady we called "Dee Dee"- the inn really exceeded our expectations. We felt like family! The grounds were so lovely with little alcoves with stone tables where a glass or two of wine could be shared along with conversation about all the memories already made, and those to be made in fabulous Newport. We enjoyed everything, even the weather was wonderful. Couldn't ask for a better vacation - to enjoy the perfect place to stay with great friends, to experience the large variety of restaurants and local fare, to tour beautiful mansions, to find great shopping, and to marvel at beautiful waterviews and sunsets. We even won some money at the slots! Thank you to all at the Victorian Ladies Inn for your good care and for being the "springboard" to an unforgettable vacation! Karen and Carmine, July 2012

Our brief stay could not have been more refreshing and pleasant as the owner, Harry and innkeeper Cindy went out of their way to ensure our comfort and cater to our needs. Our room was attractive, charming, comfortable and we slept like a log. Bathrooms were a good size and spotless. Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful, and around 4pm (if you're around then), tea, lemonade, and home-made cookies and scones/pastries are laid out, which is a great energy boost if you plan on having a long night out. All in all, a wonderful place, a a little far from town center so if you're in town late and don't feel like walking all the way back, call a taxi about a half hour ahead of time and A-1 cabs will take you right to their door. Highly recommended - would go back in a New York minute!

Overall I would definitely recommend this B&B. Nice Staff. Nice Rooms. Good Location. Very short walk to Cliff Walk and Easton Beach. Short(10 min) walk to Thames St.

We stayed in the Theobold room which is a lovely large room with a big bathroom on the 1st floor of the stable house. This is our 2nd visit and it was another perfect stay, the welcome and service that you get from Harry, Betty Jo and Cindy makes you feel at home and the lovely cooked hot entrees at breakfast is wondeful and the afternoon treats are great too, especially the mini cheesecakes!! The resident dog Maddy is just such a cutie and again it enhances your stay seeing her in the morning at breakfast! Newport itself has so much to see and do and it is a very beautiful place and we will diffinately be back again very soon and will be staying at the Victorian Ladies b&b!

We stayed in the Victoria room from July 1-3rd 2012 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and very nicely decorated. No issues with water temp or pressure in the shower and the window A/C keep the room nice and cool. Breakfast was delicious and we had the option of eating in the indoor dining room or outside on the patio. Its located about 3/4 miles from Thames Street and the main downtown docks area, but the walk was nice. Walkable to the Elms mansions but easier to drive the others. We would definitely stay again at the Victorian Ladies on our next trip!
5 on June 29, 2012
We loved The Victorian Ladies! My husband and I reserved the Victoria Room located on the bottom floor in the Carriage House. There are French Doors that lead out to a patio into the courtyard. Unfortunately, it rained that weekend, but it was warm and still nice opening the doors. The rooms were immaculate-bathrooms clean and updated. The location is perfect situated a few blocks from the Cliff Walk, First Beach, the Mansions, and Tennis Hall of Fame- easy access to the 18-mile drive. Very peaceful and quiet (although we were facing the back). I used to live in Newport years ago close to America's Cup Ave near Bowen's Wharf and I much preferred staying a little further out. It's within walking distance to Thames. Finally, our host, Harry, was very hospitable and very efficient in taking care of our tourist needs (pre-purchased Mansion tickets). He took the time to chat with us, especially around breakfast as this is included in the price. They offer a buffet of fruit, muffins, homemade granola and a special breakfast dish, omelettes one day and french toast the next--or catered to your needs. They offer high-tea around 4p, but we weren't around during that time. I think we'll stay there again :-)

Beds were a little too firm for my liking. Breakfast was average. Staff were kind of cold and almost rude at checkout. Friends stayed at la farge perry house which was awesome in every way.

The Victorian Ladies Inn was fabulous! Location was ideal and staff were friendly, helpful and gave individualized attention. I have a food allergy and their outstanding breakfast was not only delicious and healthy but a special breakfast was made for me every morning! Don't miss out on the daily 4:00 PM Tea time. Have already recommended it to friends and family! You will be delighted to stay there.

Stayed at this quaint B and B for a wedding. The room was quiet and had separate entrance that was nice in that we returned late from the wedding and did not have to walk past other guests rooms. Would definitely plan a return trip in the future.

Convenient location, nice owners, nice rooms, knowledgable staff members. Old house, thin walls, not as much privacy as I liked, but overall nice stay.

Aside from its convenient location near Cliff Walk and Bellvue mansions, TVL is a charming group of houses in a serene garden setting. The Edward Room was elegant, bright, and comfortable. Harry and Cheryl and Cindy and staff made these two gentleman travelers feel quite welcome.

We had an excellent stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn in Newport. Lovely inn, very nicely maintained. Warm and welcoming service. Would return for another visit.

We chose Victorian Ladies Inn because it had a room with 2 twin beds, and for the proximity to the Cliff Walk. The location was excellent. Many good restaurants are in walking distance. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Nice toiletries are provided. Unfortunately being on the third floor, it got a bit warm and there were no screens on the windows. The owner told us that would be fixed during the next week. We eventually just cracked the windows open and the left the door to our room open if we were awake and the other 3rd floor guests weren't around. Afternoon 'tea' is provided, which consisted of a carafe of hot water, some tea bags, some cookies and brownies. Not elaborate, but it was a welcome refresher. The breakfast includes a buffet of cold items, and one hot item is prepared and served per day. The staff is very present during breakfast, I would actually prefer a little more quiet. We did purchase our mansion tour tickets at the Inn, at a good rate.

My girlfriend and I went away this past long weekend-May 4 to May 7 2012 to just enjoy some quiet time together. The Victorian Ladies Inn was the perfect destination in a wonderful town. The Inn was very welcoming. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable and our Yorkie DesiLu was a welcome guest. The breakfasts were fresh and so much a part of setting the mood for the time away. The Victoria room was large enough for our needs and we had a deck that was off the room that we could enjoy the outdoors and yet private enough to enjoy a quiet moment. We walked into the town as well as to the seaport from the Inn within 15 to 20 minutes depending on how quickly our DesiLu would allow us to. 3 blocks from the Inn was a 7-11 so if you forgot anything or wanted a coffee etc, it was a quick walk away. Newport is a pet friendly town which is important to us. At checkout my girlfriend booked another 3 day stay over the 4th of July week because there is so much to see and experience. I plan on making the Victorian Ladies Inn an annual destination for the experience we have had so far. The Inn really set a romantic mood for love to continue to blossom. I can't wait to return.

The innkeeper, Cindy was welcoming, friendly, helpful and kind. She made us feel at home right away! The room was perfect - roomy, charming and the electric fireplace was wonderful for the chilly nights and really added a romantic vibe. Our room also had direct access to our own porch and a lovely garden with fish pond - very peaceful. We were close to town but the inn was quiet and away from it all. The breakfasts served were superb! A full buffet of choices plus a delicious hot entry - my favorite was the asparagus leek quiche! It was a great way to start a fun day in Newport. The Victorian Ladies made our first stay in Newport a pleasurable one and we will return!

This is our second stay at the Victorian Ladies. The rooms are very nicely decorated with every ammenity you could ever need. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made and served just the way you want it cooked. Harry is very friendly and aims to please his guests. The location is perfect, an easy walk to downtown, the manions, the cliff walk, the tennis museum and more. We would highly recommend The Victorian Ladies.

My fiancée and I decided to spend a last-minute weekend in Newport and booked the Victoria Room. Immediately upon arrival, Cindy helped us find our bearings and told us of numerous activities to partake in. Tea and sweet treats in the afternoon were a pleasant surprise, especially after spending the day in the cold. Our room was charming and cozy. The electric fireplace didn't pump out much heat, but we were comfortable nevertheless. We brought back some cheeses and bread and, when we asked Cindy for a knife, she handed us a cheese board and an assortment of cheese knives. (It is the little things like this that make me happy.) Breakfast was delicious! There was an assortment of fruits, pastries, juices, and homemade granola with yogurt. Our hot dish was spinach quiche with bacon, and it was outstanding. Harry was in attendance at breakfast and was a delight to speak to; he also kept out coffee mugs full, which is always a pleasantry. All in all, our spur of the moment getaway was perfect and The Victorian Ladies played a monumental role. We will definitely be back!

If you plan on visiting Newport R.I. for an overnight or longer, you must check out the Victorian Ladies. The rooms here put you right back in the "Gilded Age" of the Newport mansions We have stayed here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and very helpful if you have questions about the area. Their location puts everyting in walking distance because parking can be a little hard to find sometimes if you drive the short distance to downtown. Give the Victorian Ladies a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Eugene & Barbara Lavallee Milbury,Ma.

We had a great time at the Victorian Ladies. It's a very cute establishment with many different touches to make the stay special. The breakfast was great, and I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet, unique place to stay in Newport. Much more special than the Marriotts and Hyatt, with a much more reasonable price point.

We were in the Sophie room, small but very nice. Our only negative is that the internet connection was virtually non existent. As well we did not have a telephone in the room. The staff were very friendly and we would like to thank Cindy for recommending the Cavendish Inn for dinner, wonderful time there. The location was very good as well and the breakfast was quite tasty.

We booked two lovely rooms at this charming Inn for just one night's stay in Newport. Not long enough, though it was in a heatwave and our room, the Caroline was very warm, no air con, just a fan. Beware the Cliff Walk, which deteriorates dramatically fom a proper pathway to a rocky outcrop beyond the Breakers Mansion, and there is no escape once you are on it. Leave the walk at the Breakers and turn down Belle Vue Avene to see all the mansions in their glory. Linda and John Hunter

Victorian Ladies was a nice place to spend a few nights celebrating our wedding anniversary. Very convienient to the beach, mansions and downtown even though it is definitely better to drive than walk in my opinion. The cliff walk was fantastic. The room was clean but would of liked to have the option to use the fireplace which was turned off at the time. Very nice place. Would consider going back in the future.

Our recent 5 night stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn exceeded our expectations. The Inn and rooms are beautifully decorated, comfortable and extremely well kept. We stayed in the Carriage House (Leopold room). The room was very large with a king size bed and large en suite bathroom. Breakfast was amazing! Home made granola, cereals, fresh bowls of seasonal cut up fruit, breads, yogurt etc. Just when you thought that was enough...out comes the hot breakfast. Stuffed french toast with sausage. We had a different hot breakfast each day. Location is perfect...6 min walk to the beginning of the Cliff Walk and an easy 10 min walk to downtown. We loved our stay so much that we have reservations for next year. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed. Excellent value for your money!

My girlfriend and I only stayed for one night, but man we wished we stayed for more! We stayed in the Caroline room, on the third floor, and were shocked at the size of both the bedroom and bathroom. Very romantic, tucked away in the back. The innkeepers were also very kind, and catered to our needs. Breakfast was also exceptional. Oh and did I mention the beauty of off street parking? :) Would definately reccomend the Victorian Ladies Inn.
5 on July 18, 2011
Lovely B&B at a great price in Newport with a delightful host and good food. A B&B is the only way to go in this town . . . and this is a terrific option. The only downside of this establishment is its location--which although convenient is right on the main drag, resulting in substantial traffic noise if you are in the main house on the street (they have several structures, so this may not be the case with the carriage house, for example, which is set back further from the street). The gardens that surround the houses are fabulous: a real bonus! Wonderful experience.

My Husband and I stayed in the Augusta Room for a night at the end of a week-long vacation as a way to end with a little luxury after staying in a bargain hotel. The Inn and the room were just what we wanted -- clean, charming and full of New England character. I would definitely recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again.

Our stay couldn't be nicer. Cheryl and Harry were very hospitable and friendly. Cindy and Betty Joe were very helpful, friendly, and efficient. We parked our car for the weekend and walked everywhere, even to a wedding on the beach. Location is excellent. We certainly would go back again. Highly recommended.

We have stayed in Newport on many occasions. However, no other stay can compare to our weekend at The Victorian Ladies Inn. Every aspect of this stay far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Pauline Room which was in the third house on the property. It was secluded and romantic and very well furnished with its canopied, king sized bed. Breakfast was included and was spectacular. The spinach quiche was to die for! There was even an afternoon tea. Harry, Cheryl, Cindy, Betty Jo and Maddie (the resident Westie pooch) made our stay one to remember. We have finally found our treasured little hideaway, and we will definitely be coming back!

The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. I was horrified by the 13% state and city tax which jacked up the bill and unfortunately the person in the room above us walked around in hard soled shoes at very early hours in the morning. But the inn was well located and had lovely outdoor sitting space

My husband and I traveled to Newport for the first time for graduation events at the Naval War College. We can't wait for our next visit! Our stay at TVL made the experience that much better, and we would definitely return to this B&B. The location was ideal; we had a comfortable walk to the beaches, Cliff Walk and mansions, and the downtown restaurants and shops. It was a perfect walk after some nice meals by the waterfront. Even when we drove, parking at the TVL was convenient. During check-in, we had a nice welcome and were given more than enough info to make the most of our 3 days. Breakfast was wonderful and definitely made up for a lackluster dinner reception we had one night. The hot dishes we had did not live up to some of the reviews, but they did not include the breakfast lasagna, were fine, and offset by the other yummy options. The baked goods (crumb cake, zucchini cake, banana cake) in particular were absolutely delicious! The afternoon tea likewise offered tastey treats. We stayed in the Sophie room which is in the carriage house. It was nice to walk through the gardens and upstairs to a charming room. My husband loved the perfectly firm and comfortable bed and slept well. The only slight issue with the room was that it was warm and humid when we got there, and the a/c was extremely loud (of course, that is to be expected from window units). We were the first guests to check-in for rooms in the carriage house and were forewarned, but it would have been nice to have the air already turned on in the carriage house prior to our arrival so the entry and room was comfortable when we arrived around 4. Just a suggestion as the room temperature was not terribly uncomfortable when we entered and remedied after we turned on the a/c unit and returned from getting some dinner. The photos on the website give a good feel for the B&B. I happily recommend a stay here.

The good points speak for themselves and there were many! However, I was disatisfied with the service. We were greeted by the innkeeper, not the owners who had time off, who was a bit flippant in her attitude toward us. As she was going over information on the area, another member of the staff kept interupting and speaking to her. As the guest, I felt devalued and unappreciated. The owner came into the room and never said "hello" to us or introduced herself. When we returned to our room in the afternoon our room was not made up and a member of the staff came to our room to ask if we wanted clean towels. My husband said Yes and told the person to leave the towels on the bed. He said he needed the other towels and proceeded to go to our bathroom to get the other towels. This wasn't the BnB experience that I was looking for.

You will find neither a more convenient location, more gracious hostesses, nor better home-baked goods anywhere on the island than at The Victorian Ladies. This is a real find! Conveniently located within a few short minutes' walk between the Cliff Walk and downtown waterfront restaurants, we were attracted to it first because of their pet policy (they have 3 rooms that can be reserved for dogs) but we will return soon to enjoy the ambiance and hospitality, which is second to none.

The Victorian Ladies Inn of Newport is very nice and is located within (healthy) walking distance to downtown, close to Cliff Walk/Beaches. The Inn Keepr is very pleasant and knowledgable. She also prepared a very nice breakfast. The Pauline room is where we stayed and it is in excellent condition. Every bit of what it is advertised to be.
5 on April 01, 2011
We stayed in the Pauline Room and found much more than we ever anticipated. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room spotlessly clean, the food excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we booked a second stay as we were checking out.
4.8 on March 29, 2011
The Victorian Ladies was listed having great reviews from others and I have to say I was not disappointed. There was the hominess of a B&B but the feel of an inn. We arrived and had off street parking available, a plus for someone who lives in the country and never understands city parking schedules. The building and grounds were very nicely taken care of, but the best part of the experience is the personal attention from the people managing the VL! From the minute we arrived their interest seemed to be in making our stay everything we needed. We were pleasantly greeted, given information about Newport where to eat, a map with explaination of what to see, etc. The room was lovely, however, being on the third floor and heat rising, I had to open a window in the night as it was too warm. Breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit, yogurts, sweet breads and best of all, a breakfast lasagna with noodles, different cheeses egg and sausage. Off season price for this experience was such a deal!!!

...is the key word that comes to my mind. I am from the City, and felt that we were in our own little world. I went there with my girl for our one year anniversary, and it was well spent. There are plenty of resturaunts, bars, and shopping in the area. I got my Tarrot Cards read and was also very happy with the outcome of that as well. We walked to almost everything, then took a drive to the beach to just enjoy the view and eachother company. I recommend this place to anyone one, single, couple, married, or that just wants to get away from interruption, stress, noise, pollution etc... Before I sign off, there is one thing I wish to add... "The Breakfast Lasagna." This was made by one of the owner's, Harry and is just what it sounds like, although I will not tell you whats in it. Put it this way, it was so good, I asked for the receipe, he gave it to me happily and I will be making it this weekend. So, I reccomend this place without hesitation. We stayed in the Alfred Room, with a great window view of the main street and easily accessable to the entire house. Good times! Peace

My girlfriend and I were very happy to have spent our first Valentine’s Day weekend as a couple together in such a lovely place. Harry and Cheryl (the inn keepers) were very informative and suggested great activities to do in the area. The room was very nice and had everything you needed to just getaway for a weekend. The food in the morning always hit the spot and was presented very well. The inn is in a great location being only a minute or two away from downtown. The only drawback and I mean ONLY was the parking. You were still able to park they were just tight spots. Come on if that’s the worst thing about this place you know you are in for a great stay. Strongly suggest booking this Inn if you want a great easy going weekend getaway… Who doesn’t? Thank you for making our stay a memorable one!!

The Inn was very pleasant, and the room comfortable, but best of all was the helpfulness of the staff. Cindy was attentive in asking how we liked our morning coffee and always had a pot of decaf ready for us. The breakfasts were delicious, as was afternoon tea. Cindy was also very helpful in giving us directions and making dinner reservations for us.

My husband and I just wanted to escape for one night and found this Inn online. Our greeting was pleasant and the room was warm, clean, and cozy. We met some very nice couples while there. Breakfast was standard B&B fare. The Inn is located closely to the mansions, beaches, and shops. We would recommend the Victorian Ladies Inn to others.

We stayed in Pauline room for 2 nights and the place is Excellent! The manager and owner are very nice and accomodating. The breakfast on both days were out of this world. Great selection of homemade breads and cakes, bagels, and a hot homemade breakfast. Location is very nice being close to everything. Room was very clean and well kept. Nice fireplace and the bathroom was immaculate. We plan on going back in the warmer weather we like it so much. Great times and great place!

This was our second time at The Victorian Ladies Inn and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The owners are so hospitable and remember all thier guests. Location is outstanding and they accept pets which is a huge plus for us - we love to travel with our dog. We will absolutley stay here again when we visit Newport this Spring and Summer.

What a cozy place to stay! Our room was so warm and inviting and the bed was heavenly! The owners were more than friendly and very helpful in reccommending places to eat and visit. The grounds were quite charming and we were only sorry that it was too cold to sit outside in the courtyard by the fountain. The breakfast was amazing and very accomodating to every taste! Very pleasant and relaxing stay...we'll be back!

My husband and I loved this Inn. We visited Newport to see the mansions decorated for the holidays and found this wonderful inn reasonably priced and in an ideal location. Cindy the innkeeper was a wonderful hostess and cook. Will definitely come back and stay here again.

This was the first time that my husband & I stayed at a B&B. I was a little hesitant, but my fears were put to rest at The Victorian Ladies. Cheryl & Harry couldn't have been nicer or more helpful as was Cindy. The room and bathroom were a nice size and very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. We met very friendly people at breakfast and had good conversations. We won't hesitate to come back. Ellen & Steve

I have never stayed at a B&B before, so my husband and I decided to try out the Victorian Ladies B&B for our 5 year Wedding Anniversary. I chose this B&B because of the reviews online. We loved out stay!! It is so cute and makes you feel like you are home. We only stayed 1 night, but wished we had stayed longer. We will definately stay there again!!

Very nice B&B. Good location. Innkeeper Cindy was especially helpful in directing us to different venues - and offering discount certificates as well! My only disappointments were the squeaky floor in the room above ours (we were in Alfred, 2nd floor of 3), and the fireplace didn't put out any heat. Other than those minor inconveniences, I recommend this facility

My wife and I spent two day at this lovely B&B. If I compare it to others we have stayed at, I must admit that I was a little disappointed in the breakfast. Although there was a nice assortment of cake, fruit, cereal, yogurt, and things to toast, we were also suppose to have a hot entree and there is where I feel they fell a little short. The first morning the entree was an Apple Crisp, although very good, to me more of a desert than a breakfast. The second morning they served banana pancakes, which were nice but they gave us two small pancakes on a plate, no bacon, sausage, or eggs as protein to go along with it. One lady said that she was not interested in the pancakes, and that she would rather have something like bacon and eggs. She was offered eggs which she received. I hate asking for things that are not being served, maybe I should have. The rest of the place was no better that other places we have stayed at so I can't give it an exceeds in anything.

Had a wonderful stay this past weekend. Checked in and had tea and homemade cookies with some of the other guests. Met the very friendly owners and their dog. The room was spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. I awakend to the delicious aroma of the breakfast and just couldnt wait to get down to the dining room! An awesome sunday 2 course breakfast - totally unprecedented!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Victorian Ladies Inn is conveniently located near the Cliff Walk, restaurants, and Newport attractions. We stayed in the Sophie room and it was cozy. Could hear some road noise before falling asleep, but did not prevent us from getting to sleep. This was our first of four bed and breakfast's on our tour of New England. My husband and I decided The Victorian Ladies Inn had the best breakfast. They have a buffet of fresh fruit, pastries, and cereal. That is followed by a hot dish. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Inn if you are traveling to Newport, RI.

We managed to get a last minute reservation and despite a long drive from Manhattan we had absolutely no regrets. We had one of the smaller rooms but it was plenty big enough for us, Victorian decor, a very comfortable bed (top priority), nice sized bathroom with shower and tub. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, homebaked pastries, cereals and yoghurt and a cooked breakfast option which was delicious. Location very central but also very peaceful; just a short walk to the nearest beach, the infamous Cliff walk and the town centre. Lovely!

We stayed in the Victoria room which was in the rear carriage house. It was very private and had french doors out of a little cafe table overlooking a koi pond. the bed was very comfortable and there was a gas fireplace for ambience. The B&B was very close to the entrance of the cliff walk and 1st beach.

We spent 2 nights at Victorian Ladies Inn. Our room was cozy and very homely. Our experience was great. The inn keepers were really helpful. They helped us set up discounted sunset sailboat ride, mansions, and wine tours. The inn is 5 minute walk from Cliff Walk. About 10 minute walk to busy streets/center of town in Newport. Victorian Ladies is great place to be if you are visiting Newport!

My husband and I stayed at the Victorian Ladies B&B on July 25, for one night. We were met by the innkeeper and staff and guided through the property to our room, explaining where things were, what time we could expect deliciouse treats for tea in the afternoon and breakfast the next morning. Upon opening the door to our get away, we just melted. The room was gorgeous, we stayed in the Edward Room in the remodeled Carriage House. We loved that a private entrance to our exterior door through the courtyard brought us "home". The outdoor courtyard is so beautiful and relaxing with the sound of water gurgling and the views of plantings and the Koi pond. Staying on Memorial Boulevard allowed us to walk to the Cliffwalk, just down the street as well as Easton's Beach. The location took us away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but still were close enough for a short drive to Bellevue, or Thames. We purchased a package to Newport Vineyards Wines for a tour and tasting the next morning. We had lunch before at Sweet Berry Farm, a place to return to as well for lunch and baked sweets... We look forward to returning each year and enjoying another great stay! The Browns, Rhode Island

Having breakfast in the secluded garden, one would never imagine that on the other side of the fence shrouded in greenery was a busy thoroughfare in a major tourist mecca. The room (Edward, one of the smaller ones) was spacious, well appointed and quiet - we slept through a heavy thunderstorm. The breakfast buffet contained all our favorites, fresh fruit, croissants and bagels, homemade granola, breakfast pasteries and was topped with a special homemade entree that changed each morning. The grounds and public rooms are delightful and the staff are so friendly, pleasant and helpful. We are eagerly awaiting our next stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn.

We are 49 years old and we had never stayed at a B&B. We stayed here because it was close to everything and the internet reviews were great. It was wonderful and we are talking about going back and taking my mom (she loved the pictures). The innkeepers were very friendly and informative. We felt so welcomed and at home. The breakfast was amazing! We loved the homemade granola and the 4 o'clock tea snack. Great 1st experience.

Victorian Ladies is perfectly located so you can leave your car there and walk to everything! Cheryl and Harry are wonderful innkeepers and make you feel right at home. Cheryl was so helpful in explaining everything in the town of Newport and how to navigate around the town. We had the Louise room and loved the little private area next to our room.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Victorian Inn in July and would stay there again without hesitation. Everything was terrific- we stayed in the Edward room which was off of the main house via the small, quaint garden. The room was furnished beautifully, very quiet (except for the air conditioner, oh well). Breakfasts were delicious and very convivial. The innkeepers, Cheryl and her husband were very knowledgeable about Newport and things to do, we purchased a 3-mansion tour through the inn (at a small discount) as well as a lovely afternoon of sailing on the schooner Madeline. What a great trip it was.

My husband and I spent three wonderful days at this B&B starting Tuesday, June 1, 2010, and have nothing but positive things to say about the inn, the owners and the innkeepers - all delightful people. Cindy's recommendation for dinner at the Canfield House for a delicious dinner for two with a bottle of wine for $28.90 was so good - and such a great value - that we went back the next night, too. It's within easy walking distance of the B&B (handy after that bottle of wine!) and I strongly recommend this special if it's available when you are there. The only disappointment on our trip was the heavy fog that we experienced for a day and a half, but it was hardly the fault of the B&B. Of course the sun came out as we were driving out of town Friday morning :-). We stayed in the Edward, a "traditional" room but a gorgeous one with a big bathroom and lots of privacy. The landscaping was beautiful, and the grounds were just immaculate. Highly, highly recommended!

I have stayed in several B&B's and this is by far one of the best! The minute I walked in the door I felt welcomed by the staff. I couldn't have asked for a nicer room and the food was exceptional. I had breakfast every morning except one in the garden area. It was so beautiful and tranquil. The entire staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

We attended a wedding at the Rosecliff mansion and had the opportunity to stay at The Victorian Ladies inn. This was our first stay at an B & B and the stay was much better than we expected. From the time that we first walked in the front door, to the time we packed the car to leave, Cheryl, Harry and staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. From the smell of baking in the kitchen to the gardens at the rear patio, we were very impressed. We look forward to returning for a weekend this coming fall.

From the moment we arrived we felt like we were home. Harry, Cheryl and Mattie welcomed us and set about making sure that we were comfortable and ready to enjoy all that Newport has to offer. Harry's jovial personality confirmed that we made the right choice of where to spend our Anniversary. It was an added bonus to have them make reservations for us at many of the local attractions along with a special discount. As we were shown to our room, we passed through a secret garden that calls you to sit, relax and enjoy. We found our room to be beautiful, private and spacious. Cindy and Betty Jo were a pleasure to wake to in the mornings as they brought us coffee, the special of the day and shared just the right amount of pleasant conversation. Overall, we highly reccommend Victorian Ladies Inn to anyone who is looking to stay at a home away from home while enjoying Newport. We look forward to our next visit at the Victorian Ladies Inn. Betty Jo and Cindy were extremely friendly, professional and provided great breakfasts and afternoon tea. We locked ourselves out on the first night and Betty Jo was more than happy to help. The Inn is literally one block away from the Cliffwalk, one block away from restaurants and shops. Great value, great service and great room.

we had the "luck" of staying at this beautiful inn on one of the worst weather weekends of the year. The hosts made feel at home immediately. Their warmth and willingness to share their knowledge of the area allowed us to enjoy Newport in a way that we never could have if we had stayed in a local chain hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated in period pieces and immaculate. the main house has a lovely parlor and the breakfasts were divine, each morning there was something different to make it special. We look forward to returning to Newport in better weather and we will stay at the wonderful inn again and hopefully many more times in the future. Debra & Carl Bonewald

The Victorian Ladies Inn is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in Newport, RI. The staff and owners are very friendly and do all they can to make sure your stay is pleasant. The inn is just a short walk to downtown, Cliffwalk and mansions. Unlike other bed and breakfasts this inn has rooms that are very private, also you can eat their wonderful breakfast anytime between 8-10am, you do not need to schedule a time. I highly recommend this inn. My husband and I will most definetly be returning!

This review is long overdue. My girlfriend and I were totally AMAZED by the quality of the Victorian Ladies Inn- it was above and beyond our expectations. I have traveled to a lot of places in Asia and Europe in my life and this is one of the top 5, finest place I have ever stayed. We first spent a few days looking at rates of different Inns in Newport. We were traveling during the peak time and wanted the best deal. We were a little dubious with the prices at VLI as they seemed lower then what we expected. Yet the reviews of the Inn were stellar. Now I see why. We were in the Alfred Room for three days. We were warmly greeted by the hosts and taken to our rooms. The entire place was clean (can't emphasize this enough) and immaculate. The details on the room spec was spot on and everything was operational and seemed brand new (remember, the house must be at least 100 yrs old). My favourite place was the bathroom. Conventional luxuries were provided in antiques which never failed to deliver. For dining, I only made it to one breakfast (the other day, the two of us overslept because the beds were that good). We had several choices of beverages, cold dishes and a hot dish (Belgian Waffles) which really exceeded what I expected. I wish I could rate it higher, but it seemed biased to over-credit the dining when I only ate only once. The best part? when I was paying for the stay. I could not believe that I got everything I was given at the rate I was charged. I would go there again and would recommend everyone to see what I think is easily, one of the best Inns in Newport.

We stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn the weekend of Thanksgiving, arriving in wind swept conditions on that Friday to a very warm and inviting inn. The inn is beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean and well kept. Our room was on the third floor in the back of the main house and was very cozy and inviting! Cindy & Betty Jo made us feel quite at home and helped us make dinner choices which were wonderful (loved Mama Luisa's & The Brick Alley Pub!) They also helped orient us to Newport. The inn is located just two blocks from the beginning of the Cliff Walk (which is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed!) It is also easy walking distance to a few restaurants and one of the shopping areas. We took the car to the restaurants and shopping area down near the water/wharf only because it was rather cold and windy the entire weekend, but it is about a 20 minute walk if the weather permits. The inn was also not far from the gorgeous Newport Mansions that are on tour in Newport, again another not to be missed tour. We visited the Breakers and the Marble House and would love to visit them all! Our breakfasts were delicious, starting with a continental buffet of fruits, cereals, bagels, breads and muffins. Then a hot entree is brought to your table to top off the meal. Afternoon tea consisted of your choice of variety of hot teas or hot cocoas along with a sweet treat. It was an opportunity to meet the other guests. Newport is an historical, charming town with great restaurants and delightful shops. When in town, stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn. You will love it!

By far, the most memorable part of our stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn was the wonderful Innkeepers. Yes, the location is perfect--no more than three blocks away from the shore and the famous Cliff Walk; yes, the rooms are homey and well-kept; but what makes this b&b the best option in Newport are the innkeepers who make sure your stay is memorable and who will try to accommodate for whatever you've got planned in Newport. Although there are many options in Newport, VLI is head and shoulders above the rest.

While visiting Newport during the last blizzard of Dec 20th 2009, we drove into the this quaint and lovely Inn. We were two love travelers in this terrible snow storm with no reservations or direct plans made. Even though guest were attempting to leave when walked in. The Inn keeper took a special interest in us to make sure we were made welcomed and warmed from the harsh winter outside. They showed us immediately onto a wonderful room, which the fireplace was turned on and bubble bath was all ready in the bath room. The room had a great view of the snow covered street with it's wrap around windows and the decor was true to the Inn's name. Every thought was put in to make us comfortable right down to the warm and soft bathrobes. We had a great time just enjoying our unexpected stay. Even breakfast was given great care since my partner has an aversion to eggs. I highly recommend this Inn and I will return to try out the other rooms available Thank you

From the moment we arrived everyone (fellow guests included) were so friendly & personable that we elt right at home. The room was so cozy, as it had a fireplace and porch. They were also decorated very nicely. the beds were very comfortable and the full size bathroom was very clean. The breakfasts were of very good quality and quantity. They also tasted delicious. We were able to walk to the main part of town where the shops and restuarants were as well as the two main features in town- the Cliff walk and the mansions. We didn't use our car the whole second day. I would go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed in the Edward room, which has beautiful hardwood floors now (there is wall to wall carpeting in the picture). The service & company were wonderful. The hearty breakfast was like a brunch - we were well fed & set for the day of sight seeing! The inn is just steps away from the start of Cliff Walk. It is about 1/2 mile from downtown Newport, which is a nice walk if the weather is nice. What a personable place - we would definitely return to Cheryl & Harry!

I don't think there are enough adjectives to describe this beautiful facility. My fiancé and I have traveled extensively and always stay at the Ritz no matter where we go, let’s just say that; we won’t be doing that anymore. Staying with Cheryl, Harry & Cindy was a delight! Absolutely made we feel like we were home. This was the first time that I have not felt homesick after just one day. The food was delicious and beyond belief and the service was superb! I give it 10 stars! Victorian Ladies Inn has set the standard super high for other places we intend to visit. The Ritz could learn a thing or two from these folks! We loved it and will make this our annual destination for weekend get aways! We love it! We will send EVERYONE we know to them.....and we know a LOT of people.

This was an inn that the owners Harry and Cheryl, and Cindy, also truly wanted you to have everything you wanted and tried to make sure your stay was enjoyable. They were very friendly and knowledgable about the area were able to give excellent recommendations of places to eat and visit. Generally my husband and I are not fond of staying at an inn but we would definitely recommend this inn and would return if going back to the Newport area. Breakfasts were beyond what you would expect in quality and variety of what was offered. Thank you.

Last minute decision to getaway for a couple of days. Found the Victorian Ladies Inn on the internet. Found a selection of rooms in 3 affordable price ranges. I called, they held a room for 24 hours while I decided. Arrived to a warm greeting, beautifully comfortable room to rise to a lovely breakfast.

Hearts and roses surrounds us this mid-February sojourn to the giltedge of yesterday still very much alive at this wonderful B&B in historic Newport, RI.

Proprietors Cheryl & Harry and Innkeepers Cindy and Betty Jo welcome you into their home and truly make you feel like you are part of their family. Their knowledge of the area is comprehensive, so they can help you with whatever your sightseeing goals are. The Victorian Ladies Inn itself is extremely well maintained and well appointed. We stayed in the Arthur room, which was very warm and cozy, and had a separate TV room. The bathroom was huge – unusual for a B&B. Breakfasts were delicious and generous. Afternoon teas included hot cider and homemade cakes. The Victorian Ladies Inn is a must for anyone who visits the Newport, RI area.

Everything about our stay went very well. We were greeted at the door, given an orientation to Newport, recommendations for dinner, and escorted to our well appointed, clean, and comfortable room. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with friendly and attentive staff. We would definitely stay again.

My husband and I have only once stayed in a B&B before, many years ago, so we were not sure we would like it. It was the best experience ever. Personal service, friendly people, Clean, Comfortable, Wonderful atmosphere, I would/will recommend it to all. I have never had such personal service in a hotel. We stayed in the Pauline Room and it is just like the Photo, even better. Bathrooms clean, fireplace, comfortable bed, just great. Quiet, too. The gardens are lovely, even in November.

We were in town for a wedding and had a wonderful time on our long weekend. The staff, Cindy and Betty Jo, were amazing and our room, the Alfred, was perfect. We had a nice buffet each morning with homemade granola (yum) and fresh baked breads (yum) and then the special entree for the day. The Inn was within walking distance of the Cliff Walk (highly recommend) and First beach. Also, it was just a quick walk to the Tennis Hall of Fame and shops. We thought it was the perfect location, both the distance from the Newport airport, but for visiting the sites in Newport as well.

The location and setting of this Victorian B and B is worth the trip from N.J. to experience this friendly and wonderful group from around the east coast. The rooms are clean and upgraded and made my first stay at a B and B memorable and on my to do again list.

The proximity of Inn to all attraction, also the Cliff Walk. But the biggest draw were the innkeepers, Harry and Cheryl, and Cindy. Not only were they informative, but they made you feel at home. A bonus was the gourmet breakfast.

This B&B is a "gem" in the heart of downtown Newport. Just far enough away from the hustle of downtown, it is within walking distance to most sites. Lovely, clean rooms; wonderful breakfast; great innkeepers!

Our first time here but will definitely return. Loved all the gardens and tables outside. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. You can't beat the location -- we walked everywhere from here (except for the 10 miles along Ocean Drive). Our room was a restful retreat end of day.

My boyfriend found Victorian Ladies on line---what a nice surprise. I rarely stay in b & b's and was happy to find the service, room, food and hospitality outstanding. The location is perfect. You are so close to the cliff walk, shops, restaurants and the beach. Leave your car in the parking lot and grab one of the beach chairs and towels they supply and walk down the beautiful street to a spectacular beach. I took a jog in the morning and came back to a wonderful home cooked breakfast of leek tarts, chicken sausage, fresh fruit and the best coffee. You have a choice of eating in the dining room or outside on the porch. Luckily they had a cancellation and we were able to stay two nights! The grounds are beautifully manicured, along with the sound of running water and shaded areas for reading and relaxing. The owners greet you in the morning and welcome your questions and even share their receipes. They were so happy to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I'm telling all my friends! Can't wait to come back. C.C. Corsini and Dave McGuire
