    Hilltop,circa 1910, abounds with architectural details,charm and romance. Stained glass and craftsman-style casement windows make enchanting light in every room in the inn. Hilltop has nine fireplaces,all of which have been lovingly restored with classic arts and crafts ceramic tiles or slate.The bedrooms (one on the first floor and four on the second) each feel private and tucked away from the others. Linger in an easy chair in the spacious living room and enjoy the refined antique furnishings and décor, the mission-tiled fireplace or the flat screen plasma TV, or step out onto the intimate balcony overlooking Bellevue Avenue and Kay Street.The bathroom,offers guests the comfort of a marble bath with whirlpool tub or a separate oversized marble shower with body sprays and a rain shower.

There is a needlepoint fireplace screen, marvelous molding detail and stained glass transoms above the guestroom and bathroom doors as well as personal touches like artwork from the Inn owner's family collection. The bathroom features a whirlpool tub, a separate large marble shower, a second plasma TV and a charming water closet nook. From the Kay Room guestroom, French doors lead onto an enormous private balcony where the afternoon sea breeze plays in the trees.

    The second floor Murray Room is perhaps our coziest guestroom, and features a queen sized four poster beehive bed with a pillow-top mattress, plasma TV, gas fireplace and Bose CD player. The décor is sunny and plush: blue and yellow toile fabrics, blue and white porcelain vases, a dainty writing desk and an antique silvered mirror make this room gracious and exceedingly charming. The large white tiled bathroom has a combined whirlpool Jacuzzi and shower, a second plasma TV, and a make up vanity, and handcrafted shower linens that match the guestroom's rich drapery.

    • Deposit amount required: We require a full payment for a one night stay or 50% deposit for 2 or more days.

    • Cancellations: There is a 10 % cxl fee on the total stay at anytime. If you cxl 14 days prior to the day of arrival you will receive a refund less 10% of total stay. A room cancelled within 14 days of arrival must be rebooked to receive a refund less 10% penalty.

•Follow the signs for Newport Rhode Island. Travel over the Jamestown Bridge, through Jamestown Island, then over the Newport Bridge ($4.00 toll). 
•At the end of the Newport bridge, take the first exit for Scenic Newport downtown. 
•Turn right off of the exit ramp. Go straight through the first set of lights. 
•Bear to the left at the set of lights after the Newport cemetery. This is Farewell Street.
•At the stop sign bear right (do not actually turn right) This is Thames Street. 
•At the next set of lights, take a left (at the Banana Republic Store). 
•Continue up the hill to the second set of lights, which is Kay Street. The hotel Viking is on your right.
•Turn left onto Kay Street. Hilltop is your first left into the parking court

    Visiting Newport for the first time, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.....blown off course by Igor the hurricane from Bermuda......we landed in lux at the Hilltop Inn

    My boyfriend and I spend a couple of days in this B&B and we had an amazing and memorable time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The Inn was clean and very relaxing.I will recommended to any couple who wants to get away and have a romantic time with your partner to stay at the Hilltop Inn in RI.

    First visit to Newport and we wanted a somewhat quite place, yet close to everything. Hilltop fit the bill perfectly. It was mostly booked so we took the larger Bellevue suite (a bit big for just 2), also bought the extra "experience Newport" pkg. Best parts of that were the sightseeing sail, mansion tour tickets, and dinner voucher at a local restaurant. Some of the pkg was not really needed- the limousine tour ride (I have a car) the cheese and crackers in room (too much food already). Maybe next time the pkg offering can be modified or done ala carte? The Inn itself is quite clean and comfortable, reminded me of my grandmother’s house as a child. Period furniture from early to mid 1900's yet with all modern amenities- whirlpool tub and shower which fit two nicely, free wireless internet that connected easily, and flat panel LCD TV's (however a bit small at 22"). Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast each day was very good and you had a couple hot entrees, cooked to order, from which to choose. We thought the afternoon tea at 3pm was outstanding. The selection of fruits, pastries, cakes etc. to go with your coffee or tea was excellent. These items were also left out for 2-3 hrs so you wouldn't miss out if running late. The only very minor suggestion we can make is that lighting above the mirror in the bathroom is inadequate, could be improved/brighter. Primarily for the ladies wanting to apply or remove make-up. Other than that, everything else is wonderful. We highly recommend Hilltop and would stay there again next time in Newport. Cheers!

    Hilltop Inn is the perfect place to stay in Newport RI. Just far away from the crazyness of the strip but still only a short 5 minute walk to everything! The Inn and the staff were wonderful. Rooms lovely! Breakfast divine, teas wonderful, evening port and munchies so good. From soup to nuts it was PERFECT!
