This was our second stay at A La Carte B&B. We love it! The hosts are extremely friendly, tri-lingual (french, english, german), and accommodating and the location is really quiet. Nearby there is a nice street with cute little restaurants and some nightlife. Perfect for a little getaway weekend!

Nous avons vraiment aimé l'accueil de Petra & Daniel qui nous ont offert un service impeccable. Ce séjour fut également l'occasion d'avoir de belles conversations avec ces hôtes généreux. De la part de Joannie et Jean-Philippe, merci!

Everything about our stay was lovely. Great hosts, great food, and great locations. Petra and Daniel were very helpful as we tried to see and do as much as possible in 2 short days. We would absolutely return, and hope to stay even longer!

We loved the design sensibility here - especially the glass block, the choice of colors and the warm, glowing wood. Our hosts Petra and Daniel were most welcoming and fun, and Petra gave us great suggestions and practical guidance for making the most of our time in Montreal. Coffee was fantastic! In the neighborhood is a great little boutique (Sylvie B) and 2 restaurants we enjoyed - "M" and "Restaurant Bon-D", all on Rue Masson. Monsieur Petit is just as cute as they say.

My wife and I came to Montreal for our honeymoon and stayed at A la Carte. The location is excellent with a good nightlife, lots of restaurants and shops. Very safe neighborhood with lots of couples and young people out and about. You can walk everywhere but public transport is easily accessible if need be. The B&B itself is very clean, warm and cozy. Breakfast was made to order and fantastic. Daniel loves to cook! We stayed in the Mother Nature room which was, again, very clean and comfortable. Petra, Daniel and Monsieur Petit (their adorable dog and mascot) were extremely friendly and very knowledgable about all of Montreal, the sights, shops, and restaurants to see and exactly how to get around. This is the #1 rated B&B in Montreal for a reason. We look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you Petra, Daniel and Monsieur Petit for Making our honeymoon so great and memorable!

This was our first taste of Canada after our arrival from Europe and it was fantastic. Daniel&Petra are great hosts who are laid-back, helpful and patient and they are complemented by their beautiful BnB. Set on a leafy, quiet side-street but within walking distance to great shops, restaurants and bars. We were travelling with our loud/active 2year old and found this to be the perfect base for our 3night stay! The lovely room, the living-space, the outdoor terraces, the private parking, the adorable M.Petit, the hospitality of Petra&Daniel and Daniel's breakfast are some of the many reasons we will visit again!

This was our second stay at A la Carte, and it was just as lovely as the first. This time we brought friends and stayed in the apartment. We were again met with friendly hellos and an amazing introduction to every detail of the apartment and the city. Petra reviewed all the bus routes and trains so that we could navigate and enjoy the city. The apartment was well equipped from the bathroom to the kitchen. There was even a nice selection of spices in the kitchen, which we didn't make a lot of use of, because there are also a lot of great restaurants in the neighborhood that we chose to try. The living room is warm and inviting, and the dining room has ample space with a couch. The kitchen even has a bar so we all had a space to be together or get away on our own. Even the patio was lovely. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming again!

We had a great stay at A la Carte B&B! Daniel, Petra, and Monsieur Petit were very accommodating to us. Petra gave us incredible insight into navigating the mass transit to popular Montreal sites. Daniel provided the best breakfast that we had in Montreal. Monsieur Petit provided pet therapy in case you were missing yours!

We stayed in the apartment and loved it. It was clean, has an amazing bathroom, nice deck, and WIFI. The owners are very nice and gave us good tips. its in a nice section with restaurants, but is a bit of a distance to downtown - you're better off with a cab or driving if you want to go downtown. That being said, we really loved the place and would happily go back. Highly recommend.

We just spent 4 lovely days at the B&B in a charming Montreal-style home on the outskirts of the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood. We were greeted by the inn's ambassador, Monsieur Petit (if you visit their website you can't miss this personable little pup) and owners Petra and Daniel. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and your every need is met. When you check in, they make it clear that their home is your home. From Petra's thorough overview of getting around the city (her marked-up map is a veritable bible of public transportation) to Daniel's tasty breakfasts, they were the perfect hosts and they made our visit memorable. We felt like we were visiting old friends rather than coming to a hotel for the first time. We like living like locals when we travel and this B&B's location lets you do that - there are many neighborhood restaurants along rue Masson, and yet the B&B is very quiet on a side street just off this busy strip. It was even Moving Day in Montreal during our visit and we never heard any noise. We stayed in the Juilliard Suite which was spacious and comfortable. In addition, there is plenty of space on the main floor that is shared space - a nicely appointed living room with TV and fireplace, a spacious dining room and a large kitchen, where space for your own food and drinks is offered in the fridge. This was our first visit to Montreal, but it won't be our last. And we'll definitely be staying with Petra, Daniel and Monsieur Petit the next time around.

We spent three weeks in Canada this June, and this was our favorite B&B. Daniel and Petra are wonderful hosts, and Monsieur Petit is sure to give you a warm welcome! Everything was perfect from the moment of our arrival through our departure three days later. Make a reservation for the A la Carte and you’ll be glad you did!

We stayed here earlier in June, it was a rainy grey day and we arrived soaking wet and an hour early hoping we would be lucky to get into our room. Petra met us at the door and greeted so warmly, offering us tea and showing us all the facilities that A la Carte B&B has to offer, a true home from home, our room was perfect, we settled in and had a very warm greeting from Monsieur Petit, a loveable small bundle of excitement, he was adorable. Daniel introduced himself and his fresh pancakes and maple syrup were a great way to start the next day. We would not hesitate to recommend the whole family( Monsieur Petit included). Stay here you will not be disappointed. Mr & Mrs Watling

Petra and Daniel (and Monsieur Petit) are excellent hosts. In addition to providing a well appointed comfortable suite and a delicious and substantial breakfast they went out of their way each day to help us to identify the most interesting sites and navigate the city's bus and subway systems. All in all, we could not have been happier with our accommodations.

Should your wish be to discover Montreal and live like a quebecois for a few days, you would choose A La Carte BnB. We are a family of 5, first time in Montreal, for a 6 day stay. Petra and Daniel are just awesome and they run their BnB very professional. First the welcome, both were there when we arrived and it was not by accident, we had a rental car and they let us park for free in front of the appartment. We took the large appartment upstairs. Extremely clean and well thought of. Nothing was missing, should you have an extraordinary request, I am confident ither Daniel or Petra will find a solution for you. On the following morning, Petra came upstairs with stacks of maps and guides and provided us with good advice on what to see and where to eat. We followed almost all of them and our stay in Montreal was a blast! in the evening we lit up the real wood fireplace: everything was set for an easy start. We strongly recommend A La Carte for its location as well: Although not in the city center, we could easily drive around the city (late fall) and if you choose to come in the summer, I would recommend biking to the city center as well. Very quiet neighborhood, very typical as well with rows of the Montreal Triplex houses and maple trees all around. the BnB is walking distance to a nice shopping area for grocery mainly and nice restaurants with good value for money We would definetely come back

We recently rented the 2 bdrm apt in this B&B. First of all, the place is exactly as pictured online, even better in fact! The apartment is nicely decorated and it was super clean. The kitchen and bathroom are beautiful and the water pressure in the shower was great. The beds were comfortable too. The location was perfect for us and it is within walking distance to some great restaurants. Daniel and Petra are super hosts, so friendly and nice. Monsieur Petit is also very cute and friendly! They welcomed us upon arrival and showed us everything we needed to know. We came and went as needed from our private entrance and didn't see them again until the end of our stay because everything was in perfect order! Thank you Daniel and Petra. Hope to see you again the next time I am in Montreal! Rose

We stayed in the apartment in A LA Carte B&B in Montreal for a weekend in August 2013 with our two daughters (aged 10 and 13). Petra and Daniel were exceptional hosts. The apartment was beautiful, clean and comfortable. It was also very typical of the architecture in Montreal so we felt as though we had experienced life as a local. Petra was extremely generous with her time and gave us all of the information we needed to make the most of our short visit. She explained the public transport system so that we could find our way around the city. My only regret is that we didn't stay for longer - I will certainly be returning to Montreal. A wonderful city and a first class apartment.

A la Carte B&B is situated in a quiet and nice area. It's well situated. One can reach it easily. A bus stop is at 1 minute by foot. It takes you directly to the undergroud to reach Montreal downtown. A la carte B&B Managers are so warm and nice people that you feel like at home.

With a warm welcome and super friendly, though never intrusive, help throughout our stay, Petra and Daniel definitely offer a great place to stay in Montreal. The breakfasts are excellent. They even catered to our gluten-free needs. We will book again the next time we go to Montreal and will recommend A La Carte to our friends and family.

We stayed in Montreal on August 11-13, 2013. This was our first trip to Canada and Petra and Daniel made our trip very special. They are very gracious hosts. The apartment was charming, clean and spacious. There are great restaurants, bakeries and shops just a block up the road on rue Masson. We liked it so much, we stopped back on rue Masson on our drive back to the states from Quebec. It was our little home away from home. We loved having croissants in the morning on the outdoor patio. If you want to get the true feel of Montreal this is a great place to stay. There is also great public transportation in the area to take you anywhere you want to go in the city. While you are there, say hello to Monsier Petit their charming toy poodle.

What a delightful place to stay while exploring Montreal! My family rented the "condo" upstairs for three days. We had 2 bedrooms, a luxurious bath, a full kitchen, a dining area and a living room. The bus lines were 1/2 block away so we purchased a three-day pass and saw the sites. Daniel is a charming host and welcomed us warmly (as did Monsieur Petit, their miniature poodle. I am allergic to dogs, but given he is a poodle, like bichons, we folks with allergies have no worries.) Petra gave us a complete tour of our apartment, and then sat down with us for almost an hour explaining the great public transport system, how to get a bus pass, the latest exhibits at the museums, etc. She was a wealth of information and helped us make the most of our time there. Beds were comfortable, everything was decorated nicely, and the rooms were spotless. If ever back in Montreal, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at the A la Carte B&B was great! Petra and Daniel are very friendly and helpful hosts. They made us feel like almost at home! The rooms are very clean, the patio is a nice place to have a chat and Daniels movie collection is very impressive. Besides this Petras tipps for exploring the city and Daniels great breakfast are definitively a reason to choose this B&B in Montreal. I can highly recommend this place.

I like to stay to at B&Bs because (if it's a good one) it becomes part of the travel experience and is not just "a place to stay." A La Carte is a great one. Staying there enhanced our stay in Montreal by meeting new and interesting people (guests and owners), exploring a nice neighborhood we probably would never have seen, giving us a relaxed place to unwind, and not least of all, providing the helpful and detailed local tips on transportation and restaurants that can make your stay easier. The room, though a bit small, is warmly decorated and very comfortable (and includes a Jacuzzi and a wide selection of DVDs). Same with the common area; very relaxing and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, fresh and hot, and served with fresh juice, fruit, and coffee (or tea). The owners really care about their business and it shows, and they make you love it too. The only caveat is that if you are primarily interested in spending time downtown, it's not real close (although public transport is nearby.) It is within easy walking distance of the Botanical Garden and other museums near the Garden.
5 on July 18, 2013
This is a great B&B - the beautiful home, the location, and especially the help and friendliness of Petra and Daniel. We stayed in the apartment and were extremely impressed by the beautiful decor, well-stocked kitchen, spaciousness, cleanliness, private deck, and care the owners have put into it. By staying in this residential neighborhood in our own apartment, we really felt that we got a much more authentic feel for the city than if we had stayed in some large, anonymous hotel downtown. The excellent price also makes visiting Montreal more affordable. Just a note that the apartment is on the second floor with traditional Montreal outside stairways, so if you have any kind of trouble walking up and down stairs this might not be right for you. This is not a criticism, just a fact. We wouldn't stay anyplace else when we return to Montreal.

Both my wife, Betsy and I really enjoyed our 3 day stay at " A la Carte B&B" last week. Daniel and Petra did an outstanding job of making sure our needs were met including taking care of my dietary restrictions and suggestions of great places to see including restaurants. Petra even made reservations for a local restaurant she highly recommended our last night there. She also made sure we understood how to use the public transportation system. The breakfasts were outstanding! We were regularly entertained by their toy poodle, Monsieur Le Petite who let us know instantly how much he appreciated our company. They have a terrific collection of DVDs we could watch when we were not out seeing the sights. Both of us would go stay there again just because of the amazing shower in our room. Hard to go back to what we have at home. We would highly recommend this for especially someone like ourselves who has little or no experience with what Montreal has to offer. Merci, Daniel and Petra!

We absolutely enjoyed every moment at the A la Carte B&B. Our room was beautiful and incredibly clean. The breakfast was delicious and served to order. The best part is Daniel, Petra and their adorable dog Monsieur Petit. They were hospitable, friendly and truly a pleasure to meet. We loved spending time with them and learning more about all that Montreal has to offer. There isn't a single thing we would change about our experience at A la Carte and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal.

We stayed in the appartment of the B&B and it exceeded my expectations. I have a 11 month old daughter and she still naps during the day, so originally I was looking for adjoining hotel rooms so we didnt have to spend time in the hotel hallway during nap time. I found this B&B online and was supprised at the price. A full 2 bedroom appartment, full kitchen, full dinning room, living room and a wood burning fire place. A private entrance and private parking was also provided. Petra and Daniel (Owner's) were great hosts and provided services when we required them. The appartment had its own kitchen so we did not dine with at the B&B, however various local shops helped when we did not feel like cooking. The only downfall was that in the ad it states an outdoor BBQ grill is provided, we were visiting in the middle of winter, so the grill was probably in storage, but I am sure if we would of asked Petra and Daniel, they would of accomadated us. I will definitely return to this B&B next time i visit montreal! Tim

Lovely clean, classy, funky apartment with nice bathroom, heated tile in kitchen and fireplace. Great for our family of four. Hosts were charming and helpful: providing useful info about the city, restaurants, transportation etc.; restocking our firewood; and supplying us lots of movie dvds on request. They were also generous in charging us only half price for our first nite when a snowstorm made it impossible to get there - we checked in early the next morning so it was a very fair resolution, No breakfast for those staying in apartment but we knew that going in so not an issue for us (go to the wonderful boulangerie around the corner for the best cafe au lait and almond croissants ever!). Only downside for me was lack of maid service during the course of our stay - no fun to have to make your own bed on vacation! Would defintely return,

A La Carte is a great place to stay in Montreal. The room had a cozy feel and was very clean. The house was quiet at night and I slept well. We say "best", as if we know them all. But certainly our best experience. Only one night in late July, but a wonderful experience. Daniel and Petra are gracious hosts, and M. Petit is the "ace in the hole" - a very cute toy poodle who greets everyone as if they were long-lost cousins. Great breakfast too, and Daniel is very knowledgable about 1) beer, 2) music, and 3) movies, and is very exuberant about all three subjects. We really hit it off. Highly recommended - not your typical B&B, and that's a good thing! No wonder they're rated #1.

Daniel and Petra will go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant not only at the B&B but also in the city. If it's your first time in the city do yourself a favor and ask Petra for tips on where to visit and how to get there, she's very helpful! They're always available for questions, but will also give you privacy and space when you want it. Amenities in the B&B include access to the kitchen, fridge and dining room. There's also WiFi with good signal and speed all throughout the B&B. The wooden floors are nice but a little creaky, specially at night. During the winter the heaters in the rooms are more than enough to keep you toasty at night. The included breakfast will save you time and money because it's very abundant and delicious. Daniel is a great cook and he will adapt the menu if you have a particular need. For lunch or dinner there are many restaurants within walking distance. The location is a bus ride away from the metro, it will take you 30 minutes to get Downtown. This is not a problem based on local travel times. During our stay they lent us cards for the bus and metro, so we could load them with daily or weekly passes. We stayed at the Mother Nature room and it was comfortable for 2 people. The room is on the back of the house so it's very quiet during the day and night, even when there are people in the kitchen. The bathroom has a jacuzzi which works well, although it's not recommended that you use it at night because of the noise. One of the bathroom doors faces the hall, so you might feel awkward if you're using it and hear steps nearby. And saving the best for last, there's M. Petit, who will make your stay unforgettable. He's friendly, adorable, funny, and he has a Facebook page for fans, need I say more? This is a long review because I truly believe that this is more than a place to spend the night, it's a place to make friends and feel at home while visiting the city.

We recently stayed at this bed and breakfast and highly recommend it if you are looking for a true home away from home. Daniel and Petra along with Monsieur Petit, their more human than dog, mini poodle, will do their utmost to make you feel welcomed and well cared for during your stay. Daniel prepares great breakfasts and adds an element of wit and conversation. Petra will give you a heads up on what's happening in Montreal while you're there. Their B and B is run efficiently; it's clean and quiet and a definite return for us.

I am from Indonesia and know nothing about Montreal, very different culture. But Petra and Daniel made me feel very good being in Montreal. Petra gave me map and lots of suggestion about what best to do in Montreal, all the information really big help. What best for me staying in this B&B is the atmosphere I got especially on breakfast, Daniel really made special breakfast for me and let some great music played. And of course I love the presence of Monsieur Petit !

We were traveling from hotel to hotel during three weeks and we stopped in Montreal during 3 days and stayed at A LA CARTE B&B ( appartment with 2 bedrooms for 4 adults minimum), we were highly impressed by the lodging : so cosy, confortable and spacious. This place was very convenient to go around and the neighbourhood was pleasant with stores, cafés and restaurants. No doubt, we will return to this place if we go back to Montreal. My Husband and I had an absolutely wonderful week staying at A la Carte B&B. Daniel and Petra were extremely nice and helpful. On the first day Petra spent a long time helping us to become familiar with the layout of the city as well as interesting places we may wish to visit. Daniel made an absolutely delicious breakfast for us each morning. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in my life. Monsieur Petit, their miniature poodle, was adorable and a fun addition to our stay. We would highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking for a place to stay in Montreal.

We stayed at this accomodation for 3 nights 27th - 30th June 2011. The room was very clean and comfortable and our hosts Daniel and Petra were very welcoming and helpfull in providing assistance with public transport and places to visit throughout our stay. the breakfasts were excellent, well presented and varied each day. The location was good with an excellent convenient bus service to the Metro Station and from there a short speedy journey to downtown Montreal. There is a nearby shopping street with a good choice of eating establishments and a variety of shops, all within walking distance of the B&B. Overall we found this B&B to be a convenient and friendly place to stay during our visit to Montreal. John and Eifiona Anglesey, North Wales UK

Once more, A la carte B&B was the perfect place to stay in Montreal. Located in an authentic residential neighbourhood, it offers perfect connections to all important places by public transport, and all necessary services in walking distance. Rooms are nice, breakfast is delicious, and the owners are eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Always, always again!

It was our first stay ever in a B&B and we were surprised in a very positive way. Daniel and Petra are excellent innkeepers who take much care to make their guests feel comfortable. Everything was very clean, nicely furnished and decorated in a very charming way. Breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurants located next to this B&B are worth a visit. We really had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. Next time in Montreal we will stay again at the A la Carte.

Due to my wife's busy work schedule we could not have a nice Valentine's weekend getaway as we would have loved to. So I decided to surprise her with a weekend in Montreal the following week. After reading thousands of reviews, checking thousands of b&b and hotels I picked A la Carte, and I am extremely happy I did. It was everything and much more than I expected, Petra and Daniel are superb hosts and they not only inform you very well on how to get the best out of Montreal but they are super friendly. p.s: You will fall in love with their cute dog Mr. Petit!

We stayed at A La Carte B&B a couple weeks ago for the first time. We viewed some pics beforehand and thought it looked beautiful. Once we viewed the suite in person, it was exactly as the images portrayed. Colourful and filled with character and warmth. It's a very beautiful place, and as cliche as it sounds, a breath of fresh air. The service was outstanding. Both Petra and Daniel made you feel welcomed and were very helpful in planning sights to see in Montreal. They always ensured they would be available if we needed anything and were very accommodating. Let's not forget their lovely dog, Monsieur Petit. A fantastic Montreal getaway you should definitely look into if you plan to visit, and we will definitely consider this place again when we return.

Daniel and Petra were knowledgable about Montreal - helped us negotiate public transit, recommended fabulous museums and restaurants - and kept us fabulously entertained as we ate breakfast each morning. I would recommend this B&B, and stay here again, in a heart beat.

Daniel was an amazing host! He helped us navigate the public transportation, drove our bags to the train station when we left, and made us the best breakfasts! Our bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. We traveled from Seattle and were surprised to find that our room was decorated with photographs of Washington State that Daniel had purchased on a trip to Washington. I believe it was karma that we stayed at the A la Carte B & B in the Mother Nature room. I can't say enough about Daniel and the outstanding service he provided. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Our family decided to spend 4 nights at A la Carte Bed and Breakfast for our Montreal trip, and it was the best decision we've made. We stayed in the upstairs Apartment suite, which featured 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a living room and dining room, and a full kitchen. There was also a pull-out couch in the living room that acted as an extra bed. Linen was clean and plentiful (there was a closet full of blankets, sheets and pillows), the washroom was hotel-grade, and we had access to a fireplace, as well a heat controls of the suite. Perhaps the most comforting feature was the full kitchen; we bought produce from the nearby supermarket, as well as excursions to the Jean-Talon market, and prepared our own breakfasts and lunches. Not only did this save us money, it also gave us a chance to sample local foods, and sit down for home-style meals. The location is also very convenient: A few steps from a supermarket, as well as the bus station, which connects to the metro in a 10 minute trip. Right outside of the BnB is a Bixi station, where you could rent bicycles; sadly we didn't have the chance to do so as it was pretty chilly out. Most surprising of all was the price. As a family of four, the apartment only cost us around $200 (taxes included) per night; that's about $50 per person per night! Quite a deal if you ask me, quite an awesome deal given the location/amenities of the establishment. Did I mention they have free wireless and local phone service? Bravo Daniel! You've made our Montreal stay a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back in the summer.

This is the first B&B I have ever stayed in and I must say it has raised my expectations for the rest! I was blown away as soon as I walked in the door. The decor is warm, inviting, and comfortable. I loved the heated floor in the apartment's kitchen. Daniel is friendly and helpful. Everyone loves Monsieur Petit and Daniel was gracious enough to allow him to visit us in our apartment. This stay made my experience in Montreal very memorable and I can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay. The host and hostess were extremely welcoming and are an extraordinary wealth of information. The place is beautifully decorated and designed. The location is convenient to get to the hot spots in the city. The neighborhood is charming. Finally, how can we not mention Mr. Petit (the dog)? The entire family fell in love with him! This was the most unbelievable experience. We absolutely loved our hosts- such a sincere and welcoming couple, constantly ready to provide extensive assistance and incredible generosity. The rooms were spacious, breakfast was delecious and filling, the DVD and CD collections was fantastic and the location was perfect- very easy access to a busline that quickly transports you to the metro (less than 10 minutes). My wife and I spent our honeymoon at A La Carte B&B, thus the first B was more pertinent to our stay- our expectations were exceeded tenfold. If you ever go to Montreal, this is the only place to stay! Thank you D&P!

Daniel is an excellent host. My boyfriend and I enjoyed his conversation and humor. This had been our first stay in Montreal, Daniel gave us a quick tour pointing out all the cool spots for our short visit. He also picked us up at the train station which was a huge help. We had the Nature room which was enough for the two of us. The bed was comfy and we slept well after our long walks. The jacuzzi tub was also refreshing. Morning breakfast, we never had the same dish twice. Daniel is a good cook. We were also in the company of another couple from Canada and two friends that flew in from Italy, the morning conversations were fun and enlightening. We really enjoyed our stay.

We took our grandson to Montreal to expose him to the French he's studying in school and found a home away from home with Daniel Labrosse who helped us find places to visit and to eat and shared stories that interested us all. He easily accomodated our vegetarian food needs.
