A la Carte B&B

Ideal place if you drive to Montreal. Quiet, pleasant, very friendly. A plus if you like art (walls full of very niece works) and an impressive collection of music. A must.

We absolutely enjoyed every moment at the A la Carte B&B. Our room was beautiful and incredibly clean. The breakfast was delicious and served to order. The best part is Daniel, Petra and their adorable dog Monsieur Petit. They were hospitable, friendly and truly a pleasure to meet. We loved spending time with them and learning more about all that Montreal has to offer. There isn't a single thing we would change about our experience at A la Carte and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal.

We stayed in the appartment of the B&B and it exceeded my expectations. I have a 11 month old daughter and she still naps during the day, so originally I was looking for adjoining hotel rooms so we didnt have to spend time in the hotel hallway during nap time. I found this B&B online and was supprised at the price. A full 2 bedroom appartment, full kitchen, full dinning room, living room and a wood burning fire place. A private entrance and private parking was also provided. Petra and Daniel (Owner's) were great hosts and provided services when we required them. The appartment had its own kitchen so we did not dine with at the B&B, however various local shops helped when we did not feel like cooking. The only downfall was that in the ad it states an outdoor BBQ grill is provided, we were visiting in the middle of winter, so the grill was probably in storage, but I am sure if we would of asked Petra and Daniel, they would of accomadated us. I will definitely return to this B&B next time i visit montreal! Tim

It was perfect. From the room, to the delicious breakfasts, to the proximity to transport. And the hosts and Monsieur Petit were incredibly charming. Made me wish I could stay longer.

Lovely clean, classy, funky apartment with nice bathroom, heated tile in kitchen and fireplace. Great for our family of four. Hosts were charming and helpful: providing useful info about the city, restaurants, transportation etc.; restocking our firewood; and supplying us lots of movie dvds on request. They were also generous in charging us only half price for our first nite when a snowstorm made it impossible to get there - we checked in early the next morning so it was a very fair resolution, No breakfast for those staying in apartment but we knew that going in so not an issue for us (go to the wonderful boulangerie around the corner for the best cafe au lait and almond croissants ever!). Only downside for me was lack of maid service during the course of our stay - no fun to have to make your own bed on vacation! Would defintely return,

A La Carte is a great place to stay in Montreal. The room had a cozy feel and was very clean. The house was quiet at night and I slept well. In the morning, I quickly made my way by car downtown with the help of Daniel's instructions. This is a friendly place, with easy parking in the back of the house which I found helpful. I expect to stay here again the next time I am in Montreal.

For us, Daniel and Peta were the perfect hosts - their personal guidance was precisely what we wanted.

This was a wonderful B&B. The owners are the nicest people on the planet and helped us with getting to know Montreal better. I highly recommend A La Carte to any visitor of Montreal.

We say "best", as if we know them all. But certainly our best experience. Only one night in late July, but a wonderful experience. Daniel and Petra are gracious hosts, and M. Petit is the "ace in the hole" - a very cute toy poodle who greets everyone as if they were long-lost cousins. Great breakfast too, and Daniel is very knowledgable about 1) beer, 2) music, and 3) movies, and is very exuberant about all three subjects. We really hit it off. Highly recommended - not your typical B&B, and that's a good thing! No wonder they're rated #1.

Very welcoming B&B in Montreal. The innkeepers are friendly and have wonderful suggestions and ideas to experience the best that Montreal has to offer. Will definitely stay at Ala Carte on our next trip!

The apartment is really nice for families. A lot. Of restaurants down on Mason St just around the block. This was our 3rd time here and we still enjoy it. Our only regret is that the apartment does not come with breakfast because Daniel makes great breakfast!

Daniel and Petra will go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant not only at the B&B but also in the city. If it's your first time in the city do yourself a favor and ask Petra for tips on where to visit and how to get there, she's very helpful! They're always available for questions, but will also give you privacy and space when you want it. Amenities in the B&B include access to the kitchen, fridge and dining room. There's also WiFi with good signal and speed all throughout the B&B. The wooden floors are nice but a little creaky, specially at night. During the winter the heaters in the rooms are more than enough to keep you toasty at night. The included breakfast will save you time and money because it's very abundant and delicious. Daniel is a great cook and he will adapt the menu if you have a particular need. For lunch or dinner there are many restaurants within walking distance. The location is a bus ride away from the metro, it will take you 30 minutes to get Downtown. This is not a problem based on local travel times. During our stay they lent us cards for the bus and metro, so we could load them with daily or weekly passes. We stayed at the Mother Nature room and it was comfortable for 2 people. The room is on the back of the house so it's very quiet during the day and night, even when there are people in the kitchen. The bathroom has a jacuzzi which works well, although it's not recommended that you use it at night because of the noise. One of the bathroom doors faces the hall, so you might feel awkward if you're using it and hear steps nearby. And saving the best for last, there's M. Petit, who will make your stay unforgettable. He's friendly, adorable, funny, and he has a Facebook page for fans, need I say more? This is a long review because I truly believe that this is more than a place to spend the night, it's a place to make friends and feel at home while visiting the city.

We recently stayed at this bed and breakfast and highly recommend it if you are looking for a true home away from home. Daniel and Petra along with Monsieur Petit, their more human than dog, mini poodle, will do their utmost to make you feel welcomed and well cared for during your stay. Daniel prepares great breakfasts and adds an element of wit and conversation. Petra will give you a heads up on what's happening in Montreal while you're there. Their B and B is run efficiently; it's clean and quiet and a definite return for us.

We stayed in alacarteB&B during one week from the 20th to the 26th of february. The room was very clean, with a service closed to an hotel ( towel changed every day ). My wife did not prepare very well the visit in Montreal, but Petra took the time to explain where to go, restaurant and museum. Daniel is a chief from breakfast, and his pancakes are very good. I recommand the alacarteB&B, it will be a great canadian experience.

Wonderful bed and breakfast run by a couple and their cute little dog - Monsieur Petit. My boyfriend and I felt right at home upon entering. The cleanliness of the B&B exceeded our expectations as did the warm breakfasts that are cooked every morning. We will be recommending this place to all our friends and family. We are already looking forward to returning soon.

I am from Indonesia and know nothing about Montreal, very different culture. But Petra and Daniel made me feel very good being in Montreal. Petra gave me map and lots of suggestion about what best to do in Montreal, all the information really big help. What best for me staying in this B&B is the atmosphere I got especially on breakfast, Daniel really made special breakfast for me and let some great music played. And of course I love the presence of Monsieur Petit !

We were traveling from hotel to hotel during three weeks and we stopped in Montreal during 3 days and stayed at A LA CARTE B&B ( appartment with 2 bedrooms for 4 adults minimum), we were highly impressed by the lodging : so cosy, confortable and spacious. This place was very convenient to go around and the neighbourhood was pleasant with stores, cafés and restaurants. No doubt, we will return to this place if we go back to Montreal. My Husband and I had an absolutely wonderful week staying at A la Carte B&B. Daniel and Petra were extremely nice and helpful. On the first day Petra spent a long time helping us to become familiar with the layout of the city as well as interesting places we may wish to visit. Daniel made an absolutely delicious breakfast for us each morning. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in my life. Monsieur Petit, their miniature poodle, was adorable and a fun addition to our stay. We would highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking for a place to stay in Montreal.

We stayed at this accomodation for 3 nights 27th - 30th June 2011. The room was very clean and comfortable and our hosts Daniel and Petra were very welcoming and helpfull in providing assistance with public transport and places to visit throughout our stay. the breakfasts were excellent,well presented and varied each day. The location was good with an excellent convenient bus service to the Metro Station and from there a short speedy journey to downtown Montreal. There is a nearby shopping street with a good choice of eating establishments and a variety of shops, all within walking distance of the B&B. Located in an authentic residential neighbourhood, it offers perfect connections to all important places by public transport, and all necessary services in walking distance. It was our first stay ever in a B&B and we were surprised in a very positive way. Daniel and Petra are excellent innkeepers who take much care to make their guests feel comfortable. Everything was very clean, nicely furnished and decorated in a very charming way. Breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurants located next to this B&B are worth a visit. We really had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. Next time in Montreal we will stay again at the A la Carte.

Due to my wife's busy work schedule we could not have a nice Valentine's weekend getaway as we would have loved to. So I decided to surprise her with a weekend in Montreal the following week. After reading thousands of reviews, checking thousands of b&b and hotels I picked A la Carte, and I am extremely happy I did. It was everything and much more than I expected, Petra and Daniel are superb hosts and they not only inform you very well on how to get the best out of Montreal but they are super friendly. p.s: You will fall in love with their cute dog Mr. Petit!

We stayed at A La Carte B&B a couple weeks ago for the first time. We viewed some pics beforehand and thought it looked beautiful. Once we viewed the suite in person, it was exactly as the images portrayed. Colourful and filled with character and warmth. It's a very beautiful place, and as cliche as it sounds, a breath of fresh air. The service was outstanding. Both Petra and Daniel made you feel welcomed and were very helpful in planning sights to see in Montreal. They always ensured they would be available if we needed anything and were very accommodating. Let's not forget their lovely dog, Monsieur Petit. A fantastic Montreal getaway you should definitely look into if you plan to visit, and we will definitely consider this place again when we return.

Daniel and Petra were knowledgable about Montreal - helped us negotiate public transit, recommended fabulous museums and restaurants - and kept us fabulously entertained as we ate breakfast each morning. I would recommend this B&B, and stay here again, in a heart beat.

Daniel was an amazing host! He helped us navigate the public transportation, drove our bags to the train station when we left, and made us the best breakfasts! Our bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. We traveled from Seattle and were surprised to find that our room was decorated with photographs of Washington State that Daniel had purchased on a trip to Washington. I believe it was karma that we stayed at the A la Carte B & B in the Mother Nature room. I can't say enough about Daniel and the outstanding service he provided. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Our family decided to spend 4 nights at A la Carte Bed and Breakfast for our Montreal trip, and it was the best decision we've made. We stayed in the upstairs Apartment suite, which featured 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a living room and dining room, and a full kitchen. There was also a pull-out couch in the living room that acted as an extra bed. Linen was clean and plentiful (there was a closet full of blankets, sheets and pillows), the washroom was hotel-grade, and we had access to a fireplace, as well a heat controls of the suite. Perhaps the most comforting feature was the full kitchen; we bought produce from the nearby supermarket, as well as excursions to the Jean-Talon market, and prepared our own breakfasts and lunches. Not only did this save us money, it also gave us a chance to sample local foods, and sit down for home-style meals. The location is also very convenient: A few steps from a supermarket, as well as the bus station, which connects to the metro in a 10 minute trip. Right outside of the BnB is a Bixi station, where you could rent bicycles; sadly we didn't have the chance to do so as it was pretty chilly out. Most surprising of all was the price. As a family of four, the apartment only cost us around $200 (taxes included) per night; that's about $50 per person per night! Quite a deal if you ask me, quite an awesome deal given the location/amenities of the establishment. Did I mention they have free wireless and local phone service? Bravo Daniel! You've made our Montreal stay a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back in the summer.

This is the first B&B I have ever stayed in and I must say it has raised my expectations for the rest! I was blown away as soon as I walked in the door. The decor is warm, inviting, and comfortable. I loved the heated floor in the apartment's kitchen. Daniel is friendly and helpful. Everyone loves Monsieur Petit and Daniel was gracious enough to allow him to visit us in our apartment. This stay made my experience in Montreal very memorable and I can't wait to return!

This was the most unbelievable experience. We absolutely loved our hosts- such a sincere and welcoming couple, constantly ready to provide extensive assistance and incredible generosity. The rooms were spacious, breakfast was delecious and filling, the DVD and CD collections was fantastic and the location was perfect- very easy access to a busline that quickly transports you to the metro (less than 10 minutes). My wife and I spent our honeymoon at A La Carte B&B, thus the first B was more pertinent to our stay- our expectations were exceeded tenfold. If you ever go to Montreal, this is the only place to stay! Thank you D&P!

Daniel is an excellent host. My boyfriend and I enjoyed his conversation and humor. This had been our first stay in Montreal, Daniel gave us a quick tour pointing out all the cool spots for our short visit. He also picked us up at the train station which was a huge help. We had the Nature room which was enough for the two of us. The bed was comfy and we slept well after our long walks. The jacuzzi tub was also refreshing. Morning breakfast, we never had the same dish twice. Daniel is a good cook. We were also in the company of another couple from Canada and two friends that flew in from Italy, the morning conversations were fun and enlightening. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed one night. Proprietor was very nice, room had a fabulous renovated bathroom that we quite enjoyed. Breakfast was fairly basic but enjoyable. Would stay again.

We took our grandson to Montreal to expose him to the French he's studying in school and found a home away from home with Daniel Labrosse who helped us find places to visit and to eat and shared stories that interested us all. He easily accomodated our vegetarian food needs.
