Honza and Paula wish to welcome you to Amarte; an intimate B&B and eco-boutique hotel with 24 rooms divided among separate bungalows in a lush tropical garden, 10 km. North of Playa el Carmen, and with private access to Maroma Beach. Each bungalow has 2 identical rooms and a shared terrace with either 2 double beds or 1 Queen bed. We also offer 4 Junior Suites with 1 King size bed and a private terrace. A refreshing pool surrounded by coconut trees serves as the heart of Amarte. But the best is yet to come. Separated by a valuable nature reserve, and 2 kilometers from our hotel, you can find one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: Maroma Beach. The use of sun beds and a shaded palapa is free. You can walk (20 minutes), take a taxi ($7,00 US), or use your own rental car. You can expect to find the same warm and personal hospitality from Honza and Paula as they have offered over the years in their B&B Hacienda El Sol in Playa del Carmen. They live 1 kilometer from Amarte, but they are always around to teach a morning yoga class, answer your questions about places to visit or share a few interesting stories. Whenever possible we personally receive our guests at our reception. A continental breakfast is included and served at the Piano Cafe starting 7.00 am. There is a large breakfast menu from which you can order additional dishes. The Piano Café – or Burger Stop as they call it as well – is open ‘till 11.00 pm and serves a tasty menu of steaks, ribs, burgers and salads. On the premises you can also find a small supermarket with bottled water, sodas and snacks.

Our stay with Paula and Honza at Maroma Amarte was lovely. This is a new opportunity for Paula to manage a beautiful jungle retreat. It will be a wonderful place for her yoga retreats and would also be a lovely site for destination weddings. Amarte is the perfect escape for anyone wanting to get away from it all and connect with nature again.

We stayed at HACIENDA del SOL during Playa del Carmen's yearly JazzFest, Fabulous ! We were there 10 days and everyday was a lovely surprise thanks to our wonderful hosts : Paula and Honza , they know their city well and guided us past that " just another tourist " phase very quickly, the great meals and attention to little details meant alot to us; like the pick-up service to & from the Cancun airport , our own little sunset picnic on a secure, but secluded beach , or a "Margarita cocktail " send off as you leave your apt. for an evening of fun ! Spacious, Safe, not pretencious, a perfect fit for the artistic soul, although maybe not so much for the fancy " sticky-picky " types .... All in all, we can say that : Hacienda del Sol is a really GREAT VALUE for your $ money $ investment !

We stayed for only 3 day on November 2001 and we're sorry could not stay longer, we enjoyed the hospitality of Paola and Honza and we are looking forward for the next trip. All the reviews say all what Hacienda del Sol is and want to thank Paola and Honza to share paradise. p.s. we don't use the bicycles but the beach chers, the umbrella and the cooler on the side, we could not ask for more. We stayed at the Hacienda el sol in August 2011. Honza and Paula were great hosts and the included breakfast was huge and included juice, coffee, youghurt, fruit, museli and a daily hot treat. We are foodies and we really enjoyed the freshness and quality of what was provided. The accommodation was huge. We did not cook but could have if we wanted too and Honza was happy to help out with anything you needed including doing your laundry which was quite expensive downtown. It was great to see how everyday life happened around where we were staying however having to deal with dishonest taxi drivers on a daily basis to get to the beach became a burden for us. The taxi fare should only have been 40 -50 pesos but we were often asked for 80-90 pesos. This of course is out of Paula and Honzas control so no reflection on them. We just felt that this part of Mexico was not the most authentic experience however the carribean was beautiful and our accommodation was priced really cheap for what we recieved. Hola Paula and Honza from Di and Terry Wilson

I stayed in the Hacienda El Sol for 5 nights in middle of April. The place is exceptional. The room is spacious and airy. It is a lovely place for a couple. From the balcony I had a great view on the beautiful front yard with a huge tree. The room is also equipped with a fridge and a kitchenette for preparing small meals and coffee and additionally a potable water dispenser so you have always fresh and clean water. The bathroom is clean and spacious as well. The place is far enough away from the packed and busy party area so I had a pretty relaxing time with the privacy I wanted and without disturbance. Still the place is close enough to the beaches which can be easily reached within a short bike ride, by taxi or bus. The breakfast is prepared by Honza, Paula’s husband. It is incredibly good. I’m a hearty eater and he immediately figured out what size of breakfast I needed. I not only got the right size for surviving the day, it was also delicious. Fresh ingredients, organic coffee and handmade orange juice, it was perfect for me. The time for the breakfast could be arranged for each day to suit my variable travel plans during the day. Not only the place was superb, it was also always a pleasure to talk with Paula or Honza. They are kind hearted and worldly wise people and it is nearly impossible to find a topic to which they can’t contribute. I recommend this place to any traveler who wants enjoys a quiet and relaxing place distal to the overfilled hotel districts.

From the airport start driving South towards Playa del Carmen. Once you've passed Puerto Morelos you're almost there, because Amarte is located exactly between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. Before you reach Amarte you will pass the Mayan Palace and Iberostar. Amarte has the same entrance as Catalonia Maroma and Secrets Maroma.
