I have been coming to Villas Flamingo for almost twenty-five years and it still retains it unique charm and beauty. The Villas are spacious, well equipped, clean and luxurious! The staff is wonderful and attentive. The little town itself, is well patroled and security is everywhere. The Villas themselves offer terrific security and I always feel safe while vacationing there. I will return at my first opportunity. I love this place, it is truly paradise!

Sally and I have been visiting Akumal for 20 years. We have tried several of the options in this beautiful paradise but we have only stayed in Villas Flamingo for the last 10 years. These four condos are by far the best selection of any. They are situated in the perfect spot on half moon bay with the reef an easy snorkel from the beach. Each unit is so much more spacious than any other option it is really like staying in a house. With only four units, there is privacy in the compound area and the pool is private. With six excellent restaurants close, we just keep going back a couple of times a year. This is a beautiful and lush compound in a beautiful area. Easy to get to from Cancun airport. This is the only place you will want to stay. Dennis and Sally

My wife, 2 boys and I stayed 6 nights in Villa 3 August of 2011. The condo was very clean and well maintained. Having the owner directly across the street was very helpful. We had some issues with the internet access and instead of the typical shrug you get from most places in Mexico the owner had someone out that day to fix it. The last day we were there the A/C unit in the master bedroom started squeaking. The owner allowed us to use an additional villa for the last night since the unit was not able to be fixed before night time - she offered that without us needing to ask. The fact that we had some issues that were promptly addressed was impressive - we will definitely be returning to the Villas Flamingo.

This is my home away from home. The place I run to when I need a dose of paradise. The staff is always amazing and so friendly. It's close to everything yet far enough from everything that you feel "outside" yourself. You will definitely feel rejuvinated after staying at Villas Flamingo. Take a walk up the beach with your coffee in the morning. Look to see what treasure the ocean has left the night before. Lay on one of the beach beds at night and try to count the stars. Hope you can go all the way to trillions. Lay by the pool or on the beach and bring home an authentic golden Mexican tan. Walk to Akumal Bay and you can even get a free beach chair at Club Akumal-Caribe. Grab a snack at the Lol Ha Beach Bar (coconut shrimp or cucumber hummus....YUM!!!!) Have a massage at the Happy Buddha spa, then fall asleep under a swaying Palm Tree (unless Jimmy Buffet beats you to it). Take a short walk to Yal Kul lagoon for a cool afternoon snorkel. Walk just a few yards up the beach to La Lunita, eat an amazing Continental dinner, way too many Mayan coffess, then stagger home in the dark and nobody will see you.HAHAHAH!!! (no videos of you drunk on Utube). Drive to Tulum, hang out on a magnificent beach then grab some incredible street tamales (NOBODY makes them like the Mayans. Look for the ones wrapped in banana leaves). Then take them home for Happy Hour on your patio with cocktails and beers. I swear, if you travel back to Akumal for a second visit and SOMEBODY doesn't know your name, then you never left your room!!! The Mayans say Akumal means "place of the turlte". I say Akumal means "the place of my heart".

I just returned from one of my favorite vacations ever at the Villas Flamingo in Akumal Mexico. First, Akumal is non-commercial, quaint village in an exceptionally beautiful ecological area with all amenities you'd need. You are not around other American tourists (which I am) but instead get that local feeling with natives, Canadians and Europeans. Actually, I felt like I saw more turtles than people! There are so many reasons to stay at Villas Flamingo: It's quite secluded, quiet, gorgeous, with gigantic turtles laying eggs nightly on your beach. Beautiful coral washing up to shore. Our gardener cut down some coconuts from a palm he was trimming and proceeded to open them up with his machete for us. Just add rum, sugar and a straw - it was delicious and he was so sweet! Two restaurants just a stroll down the beach. And a full kitchen to make whatever you like. The main village at Akumal Bay is just down the road (a bike ride away) with quaint shops, artists and more restaurants that are nestled in trees on windy paths. And of course some of the best snorkeling and beach I've ever experienced. Every time I went out I swam with over 8 turtles! Ya-Kul Lagoon is also around the corner from Villas Flamingo which was a real treat. Of course you also have cenotes, mayan ruins and Excaret close. I am so glad I picked Villas Flamingo and the Akumal area. You are treated like royalty and are immersed in the true culture and nature. I could never think of staying at one of those all inclusives after experiencing this. It's fabulous for both romantic and family getaways. Salud!
