  • Inn Details

This 19th century house was completely restored in 2001 and transformed into a charming bed & breakfast. Le Clos du Rempart is located right in the heart of Avignon old town, few minutes walking from the Popes' Palace and the famous Pont d'Avignon. Around its pretty patio, 2 comfortable guest rooms with A/C and private bath, each in a particular style. A flat/self catering apartment is also available for vacation rental in Provence Nothing would lead you to believe that behind its imposing walls hides a secret patio, planted with Provencal plants and whose friezes remind you of Andalusia or the Middle East...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and we thoroughly enjoyed this charming oasis of tranquility. Aida was so warm, welcoming and helpful to us, her hospitality was beyond compare. Not only did she make us feel at home in her pretty surroundings, she went beyond the call for us. One night, when we could not find parking on the street, she got into the car with us and showed us where to park for free in the lot just outside the walls. It was only a short walk back to the B & B from there and we really appreciated her taking the time to help us. Her knowledge and expertise of the city and the whole area was also helpful as she sat down with her maps and planned out a route for us to drive to the coastal resort town of Cassis (near Marseille). She is an exceptional innkeeper who truly cares about her guests. We felt very comfortable in her home and we also enjoyed her lovely breakfast. We would highly recommend Le Clos du Rempart. We stayed at le Clos du Rempart for a week in September 2006. It was everything we had hoped for. Madame Assad was a warm and welcoming hostess; we felt relaxed and at ease. Fresh bread for breakfast explained why she was not at home as we came downstairs! She helped us to find trips to take and recommended restaurants for our dinner. Our bedroom was lovely -cool and fresh with a view over her pretty courtyard. We are looking forward to a return visit as soon as we can manage it.
