Apothecary Inn

  • The "amuse-bouche" that went with the first course: individual apricot "boats" filled with a single boysenberry, and dribbled with blueberry-lavender-lemon verbena jam, and garnished with a borage flower, a lemon verbena sprig, and local blueberries. This was served alongside our farm fresh scrambled eggs with butter-fried garden sage and chives.

The Apothecary Inn is nestled in the beautiful Applegate Valley, in the heart of wine & paragliding country! At the inn, you will find elegant suites, hearty breakfasts, and the joys of animals all around you. It is a working mini-ranch, and the innkeepers are breeders of registered nigerian dwarf dairy goats & miniature donkeys. Each morning at 8:00 am sharp the innkeepers will provide a healthy (and hearty!) home-cooked breakfast containing ingredients from their very own dairy farm & garden, as well as eggs from their flock of chickens. The Apothecary Inn is a unique experience, and shouldn’t be missed!!

    Signature Dish

    "Goat Grain Granola"
(When in-season, this dish is made entirely with products straight off of the farm & garden!) Homemade granola (made with rolled oats, wheat bran, oat bran, sunflower seeds, dried cherries, fennel seeds, flax seeds, & honey) with fresh berries (picked from the on-site strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, & blackberry patches!) served over our very own goats milk yogurt. This is the perfect dish to get you through your busy day!

From the hot tub, we watched the stars come out, while the llamas made silly faces at us. LOVED Jillian's handmade salve, the gorgeous breakfast, the mini-donkeys(!!) and the inspiring story of a young couple following their dream. My husband and I have since vowed to find ways to make our own lives more artistic and sustainable, and to dare to follow our own dreams. We will be back!

Nice back-to-nature couple. Very refreshing. The farm tour was great! We loved Gloria, the llama!

A very different Country Inn with interesting farm animals and hosts that are hospitable and down to earth. The food is all natural and very different. They sell jams and other home grown items. We stayed here a few days while going to the Britt and Shakespeare festivals. We would suggest this for a nice and enjoyable experience.

Great rooms, even better food, the Apothecary Inn is a Bed and Breakfast like no other you will find! From the many animals (llamas, alpacas, goats, donkeys, and more) giving a distinct rustic feel, to the stark contrast with the artistic and antique flair of the living area, this B&B made for a fantastic stay!

Right next door to the Valley View Winery, this is an ideal place to stay for a weekend (or even week long) getaway. The rooms are all decorated beautifully, and are very comfortable. The food that the owners prepared was all fresh from the farm, and was delicious! I would definitely recommend staying here.
