General Information

Nestled in a sea and country setting, the Rose Farm Inn is situated on a hill a short walk from town and island beaches. This historic 20-acre farm offers two handsome buildings, the original 1897 Farm House and the Captain Rose House. Bordered by stone walls and flower gardens, the inn’s two houses host Victorian parlors with wet bar. Gracious rooms are decorated individually with old fashioned wallpapers and romantically furnished with antiques, some with canopy beds. All offer ocean or country views; some have whirlpool tubs and separate decks. Complimentary breakfast is served in the glass-enclosed dining room that boasts ocean views.

One favorite room offers a king canopy bed and dramatic views from two windows, one looking north to town and Crescent Beach, the other looking east to the Atlantic Ocean. Another favorite room has a king canopy bed, in-room whirlpool for two, and a separate deck that looks out over the farm, which is home to marsh hawks, ring-neck pheasant, and white-tail deer.

In fall, the Canada geese stop by on their migration south, and the Gulf Stream warms the ocean so beaches and swimming are favorites for September and early October. The island’s songbirds and sunsets can easily be enjoyed from the Farm House’s grand deck.

Guests may rent bicycles from the inn’s Beach Rose Bicycles. Biking is the best way to see the 9½ square mile island, with its walking trails, secluded coves, and historic landmarks, including two lighthouses.
