General Information

Being only 45 min drive south of Auckland International Airport, we are an ideal first or last stop for interational travellers. Our small 6 Ha (16 acre) farm/orchard has around 400 mature chestnut trees and we run about 60 ewes and lambs and a few calves and chooks. Guests are welcome to look around as long as they leave things as they find them. We have large gardens and, being on a ridge, have extensive views over the gardens, orchard, farmland, Whangamarino Wetlands, Lake Waikare, surrounding hills and Te Kauwhata township.

    From North (Auckland) or South (Hamilton): Follow State Highway 1. Take the southern turn off to Te Kauwhata (well sign-posted, 10 mins north of Huntly) and turn left onto Wayside Road at the top of the hill (at the old fruit shop) and then right into Travers Road at the Greenstone Shop. Moorfield Road goes straight on at the 55 kph sharp right hand bend on Travers Road. We are the driveway on the right at the end of the road, under a big oak tree (with a "Chestnut Ridge Farmstay" sign on it) and just before a big old (re-covered though) shed. From East (Thames or Tauranga): Take left turn from State Highway 2 to Te Kauwhata. After several Km winding through forestry and farmland go straight through Te Kauwhata village and zig-zag across the railway and up the hill. At the top of the hill turn right into Travers Road. Go down & up a hill. When Travers Road makes a sharp LH bend at top of hill, turn right into Moorfield Road.We are the driveway on the right at the end of the road, under a big oak tree (with a "Chestnut Ridge Farmstay" sign on it) and just before a big old (re-covered though) shed.

    Follow Highway 20 labeled Manukau and South. At Manukau change to State Highway 1 (South). Follow SH1 over the Bombay Hills and past Pokeno, Mercer & Meremere. The northern turn off from SH1 to Te Kauwhata (Wayside Road, about 10 mins south of Meremere - old power station now refurbished as a recycling centre) is not well sign-posted so you'll probably take the southern turn off (well sign-posted) and turn left onto Wayside Road at the top of the hill (at the old fruit shop) and then right into Travers Road at the greenstone shop. Moorfield Road goes straight on at the 55 kph sharp right hand bend on Travers Road. We are the driveway on the right at the end of the road, under a big oak tree (with a "Chestnut Ridge Farmstay" sign on it) and just before a big old (re-covered though) shed It is only a 45 min drive usually but can take longer at rush-hour
