Chocolate Chip Scones

Serves: 6Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 6 tablespoons butter, chilled and diced
- 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg yolk, large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In large bowl, combine flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well. Using pastry blender, cut in butter until crumbly. Mix in chocolate chips.
- In medium bowl, whisk milk, egg yolk, and vanilla extract; add to flour mixture. Mix until dough comes together in moist clumps. Gather dough into ball.
- On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1 inch thickness. Using 2 1/2 inch round cutter, cut scones and place on prepared baking sheet. Brush tops evenly with 2 tablespoons cream and sprinkle with 2 teaspoons sugar.
- Bake 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Serve warm with Strawberry Sweet Cream.
