General InformationThe Artist Cottage is a perfect getaway nestled among the Big Island's native Ohia trees and lush Hapu'u ferns, only minutes from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and the summit of Mauna Loa where magic begins and the sky never ends.
This charming vacation cottage features the art of Bonnie Layton, a local environmental painter whose studio and gallery are right across the street. Samples of her beautiful work can be found on every wall of the Artist Cottage, adding to the warmth and charm of this special place.
You will fall peacefully to sleep as the rainforest embraces you and awaken refreshed to the sweet songs of our indigenous birds. Relax and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast of local fruits, cereal, tea or fresh Kona coffee. Lounge on the lanai or journey out to see the sights. From Hilo Airport take Hwy. 11 toward Volcano Village. Just past the 25 mile marker make the first left on Nahelenani Street. The cottage is the third residence on the left. Look for the American flag flying from the pole in front of the cottage. It is an easy drive through some of the most lush landscapes on the Big Island.
