General InformationWelcome to the Causey Mansion Bed and Breakfast where your stay will take you back to antebellum Delaware and its plantation lifestyle. It is on the national Register of Historic Places and has been the home of 2 Governors... Daniel Rogers (1797 - 99) and Peter F. Causey (1855 - 59). Causey Mansion began as a grand Georgian home build by Levin Crapper in 1763 on over 1,000 acres. The land was farmed by Crapper (2 of the original out buildings remain on the property). After Peter Causey purchased the home in 1849, he enlarged the house by adding a 3rd floor, and changed the style from Georgina to Greek Revival.
Early in the 20th century, it was the home of the Joseph Holland family. In the 1930's, Captain Wilson M. Vineyard, a well-know ship builder, purchased the home. Causey Mansion is now proudly owned and operated by The Connolley Family.
