We were at amstel last week. Room was decent enough except bathrooms were small. We stayed at std room with bath attached. Rooms were well done..had decent breakfast spread. They don't have elevator,so if u r room is at first floor u need take 15 stairs steep stairs in dutch home. The good thing, they provided wifi, washing and dryer free of cost. It was few stops by tram from amsterdam centraal and close to all resturants and dam square too..

We just stayed with Ken in the family room and it was fabulous! Room was all prepared for us, breakfast foods available at all times, refrigerator available. This room was on a quiet street surrounded by many great small cafe restaurants, easy to reach the Montplein tram stop. Ken arranged for taxi to the airport at a great rate. Perfect place to stay!

I've stayed at high end hotels all over the world and I have to say the level of service and attention to detail at the Amstel was second to none. We got a really warm friendly welcome and our host Ken couldn't do enough for us. He clearly takes great pride in his work. The rooms were classy and immaculate with plenty of space and a top of the range large flat screen tv and sound system and two sofas. There were three of us and we shared two connecting rooms with one double and one single bed. The beds were very comfortable and crocs were provided for each guest. We had our own personal kitchen that was equipped with a wonderful espresso machine (very user friendly). Baskets of fresh fruit and bread were laid out and the fridge stocked with juice, Dutch cheese, ham, jams etc. The bathroom is small but functional and the shower is good and strong (though not a power shower), with shampoo and shower gel provided. The location is perfect - city centre but around the corner from the main shopping and eating areas so noise was not a problem (despite hoards of melodius Scots wandering around after a football match). There are also plenty of lovely restaurants within 5 mins walking distance. We came back after a day of walking all over Amsterdam to find a bottle of red wine and glasses laid out for us! All that, and the price was great too - €60 per night. The combination of the location, beautiful accomdation, superior service and price meant this was the perfect place to stay while in Amsterdam. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The staff couldn't have been more cordial, as they helped me find my way around Amsterdam to the guest house and to get settled in. The room was wonderfully large and the place spotless. Ken couldn't have been nicer as he answered all my questions and even when I had to leave at an ungodly hour to make my train connection, he still had a little something waiting for me the next morning. I can't wait to come back and I've recommended it highly to all my friends.

    Just to thankyou~
