Review The Pearl Tatman House, Eureka Springs, AR

Photo Album

Gorgeous sunrises from two verandas that look across the valley to East mountain and also overlook the koi pond with its two streams that meander down to Spring Street. Two bedrooms open to this upstairs veranda.A view across the pond at night to the lower veranda that is accessed from the living room and the kitchen. Multi colored lights dramatically illuminate both the water and the bald cypress rising from the pond, which can be seen from the jacuzzi.
The koi pond in daylight. The Japanese maple resting next to the veranda is one of 35 newly planted trees in the yard, including flowering dogwoods, flowering cherry, and several decorative evergreens. The formal dinning room with its Eastlake table and chairs also features an overhead antique ceiling light,a barristers bookcase, two small antique desks, an antique hutch, and several impressive original oil paintings, smartly framed.
A large mirror opens up the dinning area and reflects several of the original oils against the far wall. The door opens to the kitchen and a double opening door to the living area provides light and spaciousness.A corner of the living room highlights antique lighting, and several Eastern couch accessories. The couch itself is purported to have come from the estate of the late J.Paul Getty, along with an antique Eastlake chair that is not pictured.
The full kitchen contains every modern appliance (except a dish washer:sorry). 16 antique signs enliven the walls and a small kitchen table and chairs are great for snacking. Large windows and two windowed doors open to the patio, pond, and the jacuzzi in the "cold room in the mountain." A partial view of the jacuzzi in the "cold room in the mountain." Colored lights now highlight the 100 year old limestone, while cedar woodwork emits a seductive fragance;close the door and let the steam envelope you or open it and enjoy the bald cypress as it changes colors above the pond. An unmatched jacuzzi experience!
The Pearl Room's canopied bed has been perfectly described by a guest as "feeling like I was being hugged." A flowered theme is expressed in some of "The Pearls" finest original art. A door opens to the veranda overlooking the pond and large windows provide a view of Spring Street and the Valley to the east. Below, horse drawn carriages clip clop along as the streams lullaby their way down the hill. The "sitting" room adjoins "Pearl's Room" and is themed to the rose flowered walls. The mattress is a medium softness, accented with a plush feather bed that mirrors the lightness and airiness of the decor.
"Daisy's Room". A firmer mattress in an eclectic feeling room that opens onto the upstairs veranda. Daisy was Dr. Pearls daughter and this was her room. Daisy eventually inherited the house when 'Doc Pearl" passed away in 1944. Four of the flowered artworks in "Pearls Room" are by one of our favorite artists. Not Van Gogh, but
marveleous.
Two cool cats await the next guests. Ah, the early morning sunrises: worth the get up on a cloudless day. This picture was captured off the upper veranda as the sun rose behind the Christ of the Ozarks statute across the valley. Welcome to a new day from "The Pearl."
