Quick Stroganoff
Serves: 4Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 6-oz packages sliced tavern loaf, cut into strips
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup beef stock or consomme
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 3/4 cup sour cream
Steps:
- Combine 3 tablespoons flour with salt and pepper coat meat slices with the seasoned flour. In skillet melt shortening, add meat and onion and saute for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in remaining flour. Gradually stir in beef stock and cook, stirring until sauce is smooth and thickened. Stir in mustard and sour cream, cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Be careful not to let the sauce boil. Serve with cooked rice or noodles.
