    Signature Dish

    Banana’s Foster French Toast
This has become a guest favorite and legend around our town of Pacific City. Guest rave about it to local shopkeepers, restaurant staff and locals. It is suggested by waiters to our guests, so this is a staple in our B&B. If you have ever had the dessert Banana’s Foster, you have an idea of what your in for. A popular New Orleans dish, it combines bananas, vanilla ice cream, rum, butter and sugar. Our version excludes the rum and ice cream, but we add pecans. Banana’s Foster is Laura's favorite dessert. I won't let her have desert for breakfast, so she developed this dish,

We spent a couple chilly coastal nights here in January, 2012- our first time seeing the Oregon Coast and we were very happy with the accomodations. Mike was a gracious host, made amazing breakfasts both mornings, and was happy to answer our many questions about his B&B "project" (Check out the scrapbook and ask him!) and also happy to point us in the direction of potential dinner places or anything else we needed. The bed was soooooo comfy, our room was simple and warm; it just felt like staying with friends, which is why we like B&Bs so much in general. No, you can't see the ocean from the room, but you can sure hear it, and its just a hop skip and a jump away. We were looking for some peace and quiet and we definitely got it at the Craftsman.

We came for a New Year's getaway and enjoyed every minute of it! The craftsmanship in the house truly lives up to its name, and the owner's quirky collection of salt & pepper shakers made me smile. I loved the deep porcelain tub with a book holder and also took advantage of the hot tub out back at night. The bed was soooooo comfortable, slept so deeply. Oh, and the espresso! Wow! Something like 6 different bean varieties...so delicious! The color of our room (green) was very soothing, and the antique furniture was perfectly chosen. Our host was perfectly accomodating and not in the least bit intrusive. Breakfast the next mornings was wonderful, enjoyed dining with other travelers - others had all been here before. I think we might become repeat guests ourselves!

    Outstanding service!

We really enjoyed this B&B. It is about 200 feet from the best restaurant on the coast in this area. The owner is friendly and made tasty breakfast for us. He also was able to give us great information regarding all the activities my wife and I were looking to do on the coast. Thanks for the great couple of days!

The Craftsman is a wonderful place to relax in an area on the Oregon Coast overlooked by most tourists. The gracious and knowledgeable innkeeper, Michael, was a pleasure to chat with during breakfast. The food was fresh and inventive. Wine list was solid and fairly priced. After staying only one night, my wife and I are already planning our next visit.
