What a great B & B! The scenery was beautiful - property overlooks the river - great view from outside patio and dining/living area. Nice swimming pool available also. I stayed in the Sycamore Room which was a very lovely room! In the evening, we enjoyed a drink in the large living area (with a fireplace) which was quite cozy and comfortable - wonderful view of the river! The breakfast was excellent - delicious omlet with fruit and pastries! I must say that Marijo was the friendliest hostess that I have ever met at a B & B! I would highly recommend this B & B! You will not be disappointed!

    Innkeeper Response
I regret that we found no way to resolve this guest's complaint. The "bites" she endured in July were not "mosquitoes", but from a swarm of tiny insects our guests called "noceums", which within 2 hrs, moved on. 'Only occurrance. On the Mississippi, & a "green" establishment, we work hard to make our home as insect-free as possible without harming the environment. We use natural sprays that work, but this guest felt that this wouldn't have happened, had we used enough pesticides. We are not naive enough to believe we can eradicate all insects in the woodlands & the riverbanks, surrounding us, but we try to keep them away from our home and guests. Mainly an outdoor venue, we work on this daily. We sprayed again after this ceremony, but the "noceums" had vanished. Re: scolding the child----we love sharing our home, especially for these special times in our guests' lives, such as weddings. This gracious home, with its hardwood floors, panoramic view, and beautiful furniture, is perfect for celebrations and nearly all our guests are very respectful of our home. I have scolded children for picking bricks from our patio wall and throwing them over the bluff, for chipping tiles off our swimming pool, and jumping on our furniture and beds in their shoes. I have not, however, scolded anyone for being "close" to the white brocade draperies. The circle drive / fire lane must stay open, and guests were asked to move their cars from this area, which is irritating to the one who has to move their car further away. Understandable! I have difficulty remembering names, and we speak with many people each day, so I ask prospective brides to sign in with a form indicating "guest(s) of honor", and that is how I address gifts. I hope the gift met with their approval, and I certainly regret the error. We will continue to do our best to make our events beautiful, relaxing, and special in every way, and suggestions for doing a better job are ALWAYS appreciated.
