Inn Details
The English Garden Bed & Breakfast is nestled in the heart of the Historic Stockade District of Schenectady, New York. It was built in the 1760s for wealthy fur traders. The dwelling was originally built Federal in style & Victorian architecture was added during the 1800s. The B&B is conveniently located near many desirable destinations of both business and pleasure. Many forms of public transportation are within a few blocks of the B&B to include bus and train service as well as a short drive to The Albany Airport. Parents and alumnus find that the eight blocks separating the B&B and nationally know Union College makes it an ideal place to stay during campus visits, sporting events, family weekends and graduations. Proctors Theatre yearly boasts a highly acclaimed play bill and by adding a stay at the English Garden one can complete an entertaining and relaxing get away. Steps from the front doors are the banks of the Mohawk River, its breathtaking views, and appealing Towpath Byway. In less than a mile radius of the B&B, guests can trace the history of the Stockade at the Schenectady Historical Society, enjoy a Broadway Show at Proctors Theater, explore the Schenectady Museum, or visit The Nott Memorial at Union College. Within an hour drive one can visit the Historic Saratoga Raceway, or visit the Adirondack Region.

This was our second stay with Virginia - and this time we brought the dog! The house is historic and is furnished with lots of antiques, but also has the modern conveniences we all want. She makes the best breakfasts ever, and is very accommodating of food allergies. If you will be in this area, by all means stay here! You won't be disappointed!!
A terrific place to stay!

The innkeeper was very, very accommodating. We stayed here one night while changing trains from the Lakeshore Limited to the Adirondack lines. Virginia provided transportation from and to the Amtrak station. At breakfast we met several people who had stayed here longer and one gentleman who stays here often while in town for business. A really great B&B.
Fabulous B&B!
