A queen size handmade bed with 8 foot column posts sets the classic tone of this beautiful, luxurious room with shower bath. The adjoining Sitting/Soaking room has a large double whirlpool tub in black granite surrounded by marble, in front of a gas fireplace.
You might wish to step out onto your private balcony in our warm, fluffy robes while enjoying some excllent Virginia wine or champagne. This room, and balcony, overlook the Patio.

The "Madison" Room
Savor this room! It was the Master's Suite where the owners of the plantation, Col. and Mrs. John Willis, spent their evenings.

Their room is designed to honor his great uncle, President James Madison, and wife, Dolley. The ruby red wall covering was Dolley's choice for their bed drapes. The four poster king size bed is adjacent to the marble fireplace. A vintage claw foot tub with overhead shower and antique marble lavatory grace the bath. This spacious and very romantic room overlooks the pond.

The Magnolia Room
Blooming magnolias, as you may see on the 10 very large magnolia trees of Mayhurst, cover the walls of this warm and inviting room.

Enjoy the wood burning fireplace from the antique French queen size bed. The bath has a shower and an 1890 marble lavatory from Washington's Historic Willard Hotel. Overlooks the Patio and Rose Garden.

The Southern Charm Room
Looking as it might have in plantation days, this cheery blue and white room receives morning sun through a palladium window and overlooks the pond. Formerlly the Mayhurst Guest Room in the days of John Willis, this very large room is where "Stonewall" Jackson slept on August 6, 1862. He would have enjoyed the double whirlpool tub in front of the wood burning fireplace and the king size bed!

Frequently used by bride and groom, the Southern Charm Room is made for romance.

The Generals Room
This room is truly perfect for the Civil War or Victorain enthusiast. In honor of the three Confederate Civil War generals who have visited, stayed a night or stayed for the winter, Generals Lee, "Stonewall" Jackson, and A.P. Hill respectively, this queen bedded room has 1860 antiques and decor. The gas fireplace is surrounded by the original Italian black marble. Three 10 foot arch top windows shimmer with the original glass. This room overlooks the Patio, Gardens and spectacular, 150 year old, Boxwood Grotto.

The Piedmont Suite
Our Piedmont Suite is two rooms divided by the bathroom, which has a shower and tub. The romantic queen bedchamber with fireplace overlooks the Patio and gardens. Relax in the sitting room on the wicker daybed, or a big comfy chair with the in-room cable TV and VCR. Perfect for families, this suite can accommodate four.

The Garden Room
Yellow, soft green and blue colors enhance this king bedded room with electric fireplace. This room has its own terrace outside a private entrance.

Three deep window seats add to the easy, comfortable feel of this popular room. The spacious bathroom and shower are lined in green slate. This room and bathroom are ADA compliant and the bathroom features a no barrier, roll-in, shower.

A great family room, it easily accommodates two roll away beds.

The School House
The original Mayhurst Plantation School House (c1837) is completely restored with all modern amenities. The perfect place for a romantic stay. School was NEVER like this.

The Willis children likely sat through many a class in the "school house." Although they had the same fireplace, they didn't have central air and heat, a full bath, kitchen, and a queen size bed.
Guests can choose to enjoy all the amenities of the Manor House and enjoy their nights in the privacy and warmth of their own "class room." The perfect place to start the Honeymoon or enjoy an Anniversary!

The Mayhurst Library
The Mayhurst Library is the prime gatering spot for evening wine, cheese, soft drinks and snacks. Filled with antique furniture, decorated in the Victorian style of the 1850s, and warmed by a large fireplace, it is a guest favorite. Filled with books describing the History of our nation, the world, and local history. Guests can read, watch Cable TV, or use the VCR/DVD player. A real hot spot during the Super Bowl and other playoff games.

The Mayhurst Dining Room.  Seats 32.  Frequently used for Luncheons, Rehearsal Dinners, Small Receptions and, of course, breakfast. A warm comfortable room with a beautiful fireplace with a carved wood mantel.Mayhursts main entrance Parlor (There are Three Parlors).  A great gathering spot.  Also used for small wedding ceremonies (seats 40).  General A.P. Hill's daughter, Lucy Lee was christened here in May, 1863.  Her Godfater, who held her during the ceremony, was Robert E. Lee.
Mayhurst Verandah.  Seats 30+.  A favorite spot for evening wine and cheese, luncheons, breakfast, or just for talking, reading and relaxation.The "Southern Charm" room.  Very large bedroom, king bed, wood burning fireplace and a two person Jacuzzi.  Formally the Mayhurst Guest Room.  General "Stonewall" Jackson stayed here.
The Mayhurst Patio.  The Verandah overlooks our large Patio which is surrounded with flowers.  A beautifully peaceful breakfast spot that is frequently used for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and cocktails.One of the many brides who choose Mayhurst for her wedding destination. Mayhurst has hosted weddings and receptions for 6 to 300 guests.
The unique spirial staircase ascends all four stories at Mayhurst and is an example of the Italianite infludence on the victorian architecture.The Mayhurst Library is the favoite location for evening wine, soft drinks, cheese and snacks.  The original Italian Marble fireplace keeps the room toasty warm on cold winter nights.  The shelves contain both fiction and non-fiction works and an  extensive Civil War collection.
