General InformationThe Black Bear Inn is Ketchikan's most Elegant Waterfront Bed and Breakfast. It's unique furnishings, decor, original Alaskan Art, and numerous amenities can only be matched by the finest of hotels.
It is the perfect place for large gatherings, retreats, business and fishing groups, wedding parties and romantic Get-A-Ways. There is a covered Hot Tub and barbecue on the water's edge and multilevel decking around the house for wild life viewing and the fabulous sunsets.
You can rent one room or the whole house, a one bedroom luxury apartment or a two room Cabin with two beds. All bedrooms have private entrances and baths, porches that overlook the ocean, fireplaces, fine bed linens, Cable TV, radios, DVD and CD players, refrigerators, and phones. The house has Sirius Satellite surround sound and free Wireless High Speed Internet throughout. Short term and extended stays are welcome.

The one bedroom luxury apartment, called the Eagles Nest, is located on the top floor of the Black Bear Inn. It has a bedroom with 2 beds, a living room with a free standing fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, a laundry room, a private enterance and covered porch and a magnificent view of the ocean and mountains. Free wireless internet, cable TV, and phone/fax are provided. The two room Cabin, called the Bunkhouse, sets next to the main house and overlooks the Ocean. It was brought to the property in 1940, by water, from a lumber camp up north. It has a queen bed,a single bed, a fireplace, large pictures windows facing the Tongass Narrows, an eating area, a bath and a kitchenette. There is a covered porch and viewing deck for smokers. The Cabin is private, very charming and can sleep three.

From the center of town, go north past the airport and Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminals. You will pass The Narrows Inn Restaurant& Marina, on the left, and the stop light at Don King Road, (this turn off goes to Wal-Mart). The Inn is about a half mile past this stop light. The Inn
buildings are gray with red roofs and red trim. They are set back in the trees on the water side (Left) of the road. If you come to the North Tongass Car Wash you have gone a little too far. Turn around at the car wash and head back toward town. You will see small parking signs infront that say Black Bear Inn Guest Parking. - Nearest major airport: KTN 3 miles
- Directions from airport:
Take the Water Taxi or the Airporter Shuttle, across the water, to the Ketchikan Airport Ferry Terminal. Turn left (north) when leaving the terminal. If you turn right, you will go into town.
The Inn has plenty of free off street parking on-site and additional parking for RV's, boats, and boat trailers near by. If you do not have a car we are on the bus route and cabs are readily available. - Meeting places:

Innkeepers- Innkeeper(s): Nicole and James Church
James is a fourth generation Alaskan whose great grandparents came to Alaska in 1898. He has extensive knowledge about Alaska and the typography of South East Alaska. Nicole is a former University and Hospital Administrator. They enjoy cooking, landscaping, fishing and hiking. They designed and built the Black Bear Inn themselves. - The innkeepers speak: English
