The service is outstanding at this historic property in Savannah. The center fountain/courtyard is the perfect place for socializing, reading, etc. It is very relaxing and charming. The evening desserts are a must! The service was amazing. I didn't like the frozen fruit at breakfast. I would have expected fresh fruit as such a nice property. Otherwise the buffet was very delicious! I would stay there again.

Our trip was a short one, May 23-26, 2010. "great"; it couldn't have been better. arrived around noon, room wasn't ready, walked around the city for 4 hrs, came back & our room was upgraded to a Superior King Room 128 (awesome)!! Breakfast was a salsa egg casserole, on Monday, crab & egg casserole on Wed, sausage, biscuits, & hash brown rds, grits, muffins, granola bars, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, oj & water. 5:00pm - finger sandwiches (ham & cheese); one sided panini sandwiches, deviled eggs, chicken salad w/crackers, soda's, wine (white or red), 8:00pm - cake & muffins, (2) waters in your rm ea. day.My husband & I had breakfast in the courtyard, appetizers at 5:00pm. I'm from the south & I was taken in by Savannah's beauty. We went to Savannah to relax and that's just what we did. went to The Crab Shack at Tybee Island, it's OK, my dh loved the Crab, I had the Low Country Boil, not enough spice for me, very bland. Next time I will take my Tony Chacheres. had a slice of Vinnie Van GoGos pizza, good, huge. went to Ms. Wilkes for lunch, good. $16 per person. went to Barnes BBQ,the sauce they have to put on this BBQ was awesome. My husband had the ribs, he said they were falling off the bone, I had chopped beef, oh my. As I say often, it was good enough to slap your mama. We also did a trolley tour and carriage ride, and we also saw Forrest Gump I have to say that The Warehouse on River Street is a great place to get a beer ($3.00 or $3.50) and they make a mean margarita too for $6.50 to $7.50. tip the bartender well & they'll treat you good. !! In conclusion; We paid $139.50 AAA rate for our room plus tax, but if you were on a limited budget, you could probably get by with just eating w/what Eliza Thompson served on a daily basis. It's a personal preference, but to each his own. We didnt, but somebody else might. We personally would recommend that folks who love history and just want to relax, stay at The Eliza Thompson House.

This was our first B&B and we just loved it. The breakfast was great, and the afternoon cheese and cracker with wine and beverages was wonderful. When you come in at night, there are cookies and deserts too! They make reservations for you and are most accomodating to anything, including leaving your bags to change after check-out for an evening flight. We just loved Savannah and staying at the Eliza Thompson House, and loved walking everywhere from there.

We stayed here for three nights on the first leg of our vacation. It was a wonderful little place. We had a pretty good sized room that overlooked a central courtyard with a fountain. This is an old house that really puts you back in the spirit of the early days of Savannah. They serve breakfast in the courtyard in the morning and they server wine, pastries, and snacks in the sitting room in the evening. The staff was helpful and nice. Free parking pass for parking on the street (and all over historic Savannah). Our stay was very laid back and the place was quiet, there were a few other couples but we pretty much felt like we had the whole place to ourselves (not that many rooms to begin with). Only negative was we had to drive down to the river front, would have been nicer to stay closer. You could walk it but it's quite a hike. Great stay!! Would stay again.
