Ship's Knees was a great place to stay in a perfect location. It's about a 5-7 minute walk to Nauset Beach and a short drive to lots of restaurants and shopping in Orleans. The pool was an added benefit with complimentary towels. The room we stayed in was a tad small (no place to lay out suitcases), but that may not be the case for all rooms at the inn. The owners were very welcoming and helpful.

We stayed at the Ship's Knees Inn in April of 2011, just as the weather began to warm up. It is a charming house, a bit small, but the rooms are comfortable and the decor makes you feel like you are spending a few evenings in a time gone bye. A walk through the upstairs hallway is particularly intriguing. The breakfast was the best we had in our 2 week tour of New England. The scones are to die for. The inn is situated a mile or so from a public beach, 10 minutes from many places to eat, 30 minutes from Chatham (which was one of my favorite towns we visited) and an easy day trip from the upper arm of Cape Cod. Would definitely recommend staying here, and will return again.

I stay at the Inn once a year, usually for a couple of nights, to walk Nauset Beach and go to a couple of Cape League baseball games. Peter and Denise are terrific - welcoming, engaging, helpful. I've stayed in several different rooms, ranging from small to spacious. All wonderful if you like "old Cape" style accommodations. If you like Nauset, you can't beat this location.

People have a lot of different criteria regarding what they want and need in a vacation lodging. My companion & I wanted something quiet and peaceful where we could spend a few days. Before we found Ship's Knees Inn we had been looking at places in Provincetown, but soon realized that area was quite busy and crowded. We were both so glad to have found this lovely quiet place in East Orleans. We visited in the "shoulder season" (late April in our case) so there weren't a lot of visitors yet either in town or at the Inn. i.e. things were quiet and very peaceful. Our room was sweet and felt very private (we chose rm 4 which has a private entrance) Everything about the place and our stay exceeded our expectations. We have agreed in retrospect we would do it all over again without hesitation and we would certainly choose Ship's Knees Inn again. What a lovely place!
