General InformationThe Washington Hotel's pastoral surroundings make it a great place to relax--especially after biking, swimming in the lake or exploring the island. Top that by unwinding in one of the hotel's luxurious steam showers. The historic guest rooms are simple, elegant, and cozy.
Enjoy the harbor and forest views. Bask in the comfort of organic cotton sheets and towels, and hand-woven blankets created especially for guests of the hotel. Shared baths feature state of the art fixtures and features. In the winter, a grand fireplace in the parlor beckons guests for a glass of wine after skiing or snow shoeing.
A private cottage is also available for weekly rentals. Chef Caplan and her staff use Island produce, lake fish, and a brick oven to create heavenly bread, meals, and box lunches. Dine in the historic dining room, the parlor, on the porch, the great lawn, or by the lake. Sublime salads and pizza, a glorious 6-course menu, fine wines, Wisconsin brews, and a symphony of desserts.
With an emphasis on local and organic ingredients, professional chefs teach both hands-on and demo classes on an array of culinary topics and techniques, such as bread baking, fish cookery, and beer and wine appreciation. Cookbooks, equipment, packages, private classes and group retreats are available.
