General InformationAs you drive down the country lane into the Seventy-four Ranch, you'll see the lovely rolling foothills of the North Georgia Mountains. The big sky is wide and blue, and our spirited horses and our cattle are on the move.
Get ready to relax in rugged indulgence. The historic Butler-Cape House, built in the mid 1800's, is the heart of the Ranch. Our rooms, cabins and suites are hand-crafted for your delight. Antiques, artifacts and artwork await you, and you'll be refreshed by comfy beds, down pillows, quilts and fluffy towels.
Care for a little adventure? We have 1200 acres to ride. Stay right here on the ranch and learn to rope like a cowboy or fish for your dinner in Parker Pond. We've got the poles, bait and plenty of fish. Watch our foals learning to become cow horses and our calves scampering after the herd. Big Scarecorn Creek invites a family expedition or a rendezvous point for cocktails.
In the moonlight, roast marshmallows around the campfire and listen to the true tales of the history of the ranch. We'll tell you about the Cherokee Indians, the Civil War, and the 'Moonshine War' here. The night sky sparkles with stars, and we have a fun and easy way to get you started on your exploration of the starry heavens.
Wake to the smell of rich coffee and the sounds of the ranch coming to life. Your hearty breakfast is served on the antique french dining table in the Butler-Cape House. Savor the freshest of foods, often straight from our garden and organic when possible. Stroll around our gardens, full of antique roses and period flowers, or find a porch or a wooden swing and luxuriate in the breeze that sweeps through our valley.
When it's time to leave, you'll be refreshed and renewed, with memories that will last a lifetime.
