Merci Diane !

excellent bed and breakfast - very nice location and people.

my husband and i randomly picked this b&b because i liked their website and the rooms looked nice and the price couldn't be beat. we didn't know montreal and when we found the location we felt like we got really lucky. the plateau mount royal neighborhood was very busy and beautiful with lots of great cafes and shops. the owner, diane, made us feel right at home with lots of great advice on the sights and making a home cooked delicious breakfast every morning. the parking was on the street, which we were nervous about but it ended up being no problem. we had a wonderful time in montreal and would stay here again.

An oasis of calm in the center of it all...

My wife and I decided on the spur of the moment to spend a few days in Montréal for a mini-vacation of sorts, and we had the good fortune to find an available room at this gem of a B&B. The innkeepers (Diane and Frédéric) are friendly, the space is neat, clean, and tastefully arranged, and the breakfasts are superb -- assorted fresh fruit, crepes, yogurt, and wonderful conversations with the other guests around the table. There is artwork literally everywhere you look, both inside and out. Le Gite is in an older residential part of town (Diane told us the building dates from 1896), with several public parks within close walking distance and an open-air pedestrian mall just a few steps away on rue Prince-Arthur. Within two blocks' walk we found a grocery store, several bakeries, a variety of restaurants, huge outdoor murals, and all kinds of interesting shops. Our room was a little small for two people, but to be fair, we made our reservation two days before our actual stay (and during the week of the Montreal Jazz Festival no less) and the larger rooms were all booked. Next time we stay we'll be sure to reserve further in advance. We definitely plan to return to Le Gite again -- it's truly a gem of a place.
