General Information

In October of 2002 Karl and Dorothee Gossel bought the house with the interest of welcoming visitors to the area and preserving a piece of Macomb's history. Dorothee operated a Bed&Breakfast in Germany on the island Fehmarn in the Baltic Sea. The logo of the Inselhaus shows the map of the island Fehmarn.

  • Our signature dish is Inselhaus French Toast
    In small bowl beat 3 eggs and 6 Tblsp peach preserve.
    Beat in 3/4 c cream.
    Place 6 slices of one day old bread without crust and bottom in 11x7 ich baking dish.
    Pour egg mixture over bread and refrigerate overnight.
    In small bowl beat 1/2 c preserve and 4 Tblsp butter until fluffy.
    At serving time, melt 2 Tblsp in skillet, add 3 bread slices and cook over med. heat until browned, turning once.
    Remove and keep warm. Cook remaining slices of bread.
    Serve each French Toast with 1 Tblsp peach butter and toasted almonds and powdered sugar.

  • Cancellations:
    Inselhaus does not operate like a hotel. We have a small number of rooms and need as much notice as possible if you have to cancel your reservation. Cancellations have to be made by phone or email at 14 days in advance to avoid a charge. Whole house cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance to a charge of the full abount of the reservation.
