The Mercersburg Inn

  • Inn Details

In 1909, Ione and Harry Byron embarked upon a dream - the creation of a magnificent private estate. The Byron's unlimited wealth, impeccable taste, and sophisticated vision of a life of casual elegance led, two years later, to the completion of Prospect, a stately Georgian mansion surrounded by 6.5 landscaped acres and named for the mansion's panoramic views of the Tuscarora Mountains and the charming town of Mercersburg. Situated across from the campus of The Mercersburg Academy, the Inn has views of the beautifully proportioned Academy Chapel with its grand, 43 bell carillon. Awaken to the aroma of homebaked breakfast breads. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the 225-year-old historic village or ride an Inn Mountain bike over back roads to a covered bridge.

I stayed at Mercerburg with my 10 year old during a ski trip. The Inn was not our destination but it was definately the highlight. The house is enchanting and beautifully maintained. The hosts are honest, gracious, welcoming and let you see the other rooms so you feel at home. I intend to go back jsut to stay there.

A pair of innkeepers ourselves, we had the Inn to ourselves on a quiet Sunday night. The inn is spectacular, meticulously clean, well appointed and warm( not easy to acheive in a house this size!) We had dinner in the restaurant which was outstanding. My only regret was that I couldn't find room for dessert. The service was wonderful as well. Melissa and Nicole who took care of us upon arrival and in the restaurant were warm and friendly. The Innkeepers were delightful. We enjoyed swapping stories and found that little inns and big inns are not so different sometimes! Breakfast was another culinary treasure. We hated to leave and promise we'll be back with friends and for longer next time. Great job to Lisa, Jim and their incredible staff.

    What a pleasant stay!

Just spent a Saturday night at the Mercersburg Inn with my husband and three children. We had two rooms, both with queen beds and one with a roll out bed. The rooms and baths were very clean. The linens were beautiful and spotless. It is a large inn, which was relaxing for us because we didn't feel like we had to tip toe around, especially with the children. And the game room in the basement was fun for all -- pool, air hockey, tv. That was a nice surprise!

Tell the innkeeper that sent you.
