General InformationThe Stockade Bed & Breakfast located on historic Highland Road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s State Capitol is conveniently located 4 miles from LSU. Named after the Union stockade that existed on the property during the Civil War, the property surrounded by 11 acres of land is on the National Register of Historic Places as an archeological site. Five spacious guest rooms are decorated with original Louisiana art from the proprietor’s gallery. All rooms are elegantly appointed with modern conveniences including color television, mini-refrigerators, VCR’s, coffee pots, irons & boards, hair dryers, and private baths. Full Southern breakfast is served in the dining room of lovely antiques. Three restaurants are within walking distance. Several historic properties including The Old State Capital, the Old Governor's Mansion, the USS Kid, Magnolia Mound Plantation, and the Rural Life Museum are close by.

The Stockade is located at the intersection of Highland Road and Staring Lane in Baton Rouge. From I-10, the closest exit is Essen Lane (Exit 160) which turns into Staring Lane. Head south on Essen until it reaches Highland Road. Head west on Highland and turn left into the first driveway at The Stockade. - Nearest major airport: BTR 15 miles

From Airport, take I-110 south through downtown Baton Rouge. Continue on I-10 East to Baton Rouge. At exit 159, I-10 veers to the right. Continue on I-10 to exit 160 (Essen Lane). Take Essen Lane exit and turn right. Continue south on Essen Lane. Essen will change names to Staring Lane @ Perkins Road. Continue south on Staring Lane until it ends @ Highland Road (prox 3 ¾ miles). THE STOCKADE is the first driveway on the left after you turn right onto Highland Road (less than 50 yards). It is directly across from LAUREL LEA SHOPPING CENTER. The house is a large Mediterranean style with blonde brick and red tile roof.
