Purple Plum Kuchen

Serves: 9Ingredients:
- 4 cups Pitted, sliced purple prune plums
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese at room temperature
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
- Butter Pastry
- 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour (unsifted)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Steps:
- Combine all ingredients listed after Butter Pastry. With fingers, rub in ½c. butter or margarine until mealy, stir in 1 egg yolk. Work dough into a ball. Press evenly into bottom of a 9 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
- Arrange fruit on the top of the butter pastry and sprinkle evenly with ½ c. of the sugar and cinnamon. Bake in a 350° oven for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with eggs, sour cream, the remaining ¾ c. sugar, vanilla, and lemon peel. Remove pastry from oven. Pour cream cheese mixture on top.
- Bake about 35 minutes until center is set when pan is jiggled. Cool, then chill well.
