A unique feature of this fine inn is the boathouse beds. Each room has a bit of nautical whimsy with each bed set having been created from an actual boat. You may sail away to a calm weekend on a racing boat with a sail canopy, enjoy tranquil days upon a wooden fishing vessel complete with wheelhouse, or peacefully drift with a canoe along the river. There is a library and guidebooks to the area. There is an outdoor smoking area. Business traveler services such as fax and voicemail. Massage available on site.

    Melanie loves to share the special places Monterey Bay and Moss Landing offer. She knows fun stories of local history and can identify most wildlife. Originally from Nebraska, Captain Yohn is a certified U.S. Coast Guard Captain who operates Elkhorn Slough Safari Nature Boat Tours. He also officiates at weddings and tells fun fishing tales. Both enjoy birding.

    Stay in any room at the Inn for at least two nights in January, February or March and get two whale watching tickets for the regular price of one, just a few blocks walk from the Inn. For many of our guests, this is a favorite whale-of-a-trip not to be missed. Ask for two for one whales. Schedule may be variable. Can not be combined with 'best prices' package.

    Our area is just wonderful for wildlife watching. Add a wildlife adventure to your stay, at a discount rate for those who stay at our Inn. You can take "Elkhorn Slough Safari" guided nature boat tour to see otters, birds, seals and more on the calm waters of the slough. Or you can go hiking in the reserve and wildlife areas only a few miles away.

    Package stays for events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca are available! We are only twelve miles from the back gate of the raceway. We offer packages for those attending the American Lemans, Ferrari racing, MotoGP, and Sports Car Festival. The race and room package includes two "3-day" admission and paddock passes, call us for prices. Please put "Mazda" in the message field for online bookings, or just ask when you call us. Other races scheduled (no ticket packages available) include Historic Auto Races. See you at the races.

    This special package lets you add a special touch to your romantic weekend at the Inn. Great for annniversary, birthday, engagements, valentines, and other special times. The package includes special scents for your soaking tub (or scented gel for your shower), a box of hand dipped chocolate truffles, a bouquet of fresh flowers complete with a note from you (bouquet that your sweetheart can take home after check out), cooled lemonade, and fresh fruit (seasonal selection). All will be waiting for your sweetheart in your room before you arrive. This package is available for only $59.00 when you stay at the Captain's Inn.

    Melanie and Captain make you feel welcome the moment you enter the Inn. Breakfast is warm and wonderful. From many of the rooms you can see wild life in action including a fluffed out Blue Heron, Snowy Egrets as they fly in and out of the slough and playful otters. Melanie has great recommendations for local activities and restaurants. I definitely enjoy staying at the Captain's Inn and recommend it to my colleagues and friends.

    Tranquility and friendly birds & wildlife galore -- just a happy, beautiful place. Meals are amazing, take Elkhorns bush tour -- Perfect weekend.

    We have stayed in B&Bs all over the country. The Captain's Inn immediately became one of our favorites with its amazing location, lovely, comfortable rooms, warm hospitality and attention to detail...we will return.

    My wife and I have stayed at over 50 B7Bs over the last 20 years and this rates as one of the best. The rooms are unique and comfortable. Melanies hospitality is outstanding, her breakfasts are wonderful and the afternoon cookies are beyond compare. She knows the area extremely well and will readily make dinner reservations for you. This Inn is truly a wonderful find. Its close enought to do a daytrip to Monterey and then come back and relax and look at the wonderful group of shore birds in the water infront of the boathouse.
